Is that a serious question? For starters, if Joran files a suit against Fox or anyone related to this case, then he definitely has submitted to this jurisdiction and all kinds of counter claims, interpleaders, and joinders come in.

I am very very happy to see this lawsuit. I for one believe that Joran and his father and the Kalpoes know exactly what happened to Natalee, and I believe the police in Aruba do as well...the police apparently just don't have the physical evidence to prove their case in court, so they continue to hope for a new witness or to find Natalee's remains... or to find something that got lost the first 10 days Natalee disappeared-something I am sorry to say, they may never have.

I am really glad Beth's lawyer was able to serve Joran yesterday even though I dont understand how the court is going to get him to come back to the US if they let him leave. It isn't that big of a deal in Aruba, where all happened. If Paulus is found guilty for that then all MBkids-parents (including Beth and Dave) must be found guilty aswell. There kids were minor drinkers by Alabama standards aswell and they allowed their kids to go to Aruba for a drink-fest!

Aruba is a different culture than the US. The attitudes about underage drinking have changed a lot in the US over the past 20 years. I never was much of a drinker cause my body doesn't like it - I throw up with just a few drinks, but was around alcohol a lot late teens and college. I dated a guy 12th grade and early college whose parents let him use their bar tab at the country club and they had a stocked bar/party room at their house that we all had access to. Nobody really thought much about it being that bad. (Except my parents would have, as they are staunch Southern Baptist tee totalers and I wasn't allowed to drink, so I definitely didn't tell them, especially since I wasn't one of the drinker.) The law didn't arrest us for underage drinking then like they do now, but they would probably call the person's parents if they were drunk.

Point being, lots of people just didn't think this was that big of a deal in our culture at that time.

I went to weekend several parties in Mountain Brook with friends from college who were from there and their parents had a full bar setup for us, as well as Bloody Mary's ready for us to drink in the morning. Some of the people with me were fairly heavy alcohol drinkers. This was common practice - all underage legally. And Fraternity parties - well, few were sober ( and not that different today either.)

The US culture has just changed to where this is considered inappropriate, but it was much more widely accepted 20-30 years ago.

In Aruba, it does not seem to be culturally taboo for Joran to be drinking at 17. That is his culture so people cannot impose standards from somebody's else's culture on him.

Additionally, none of these MB youth could legally drink in their culture until they reached 21 - three more years. Yet the MB parents seemed to think that it was OK to authorize them to have the Holiday Inn armband allowing unlimited drinking while in Aruba. Joran was basically in the same age group. They try to say it is OK for the MB group but not for Joran. Illogical!

No. 1 Your perp is a suspect. If you mean Paul, he was in jail for a couple of days. He hired a lawyer, by law the prosecutor MUST, they often don't, hand over any documents relevant to the case, to the defendant. Same goes for Joran.

The man spoke in papiamento( our native language) but he does not live in Aruba. The Ale has order more help from Holland this week to help search for her body....Dompig said that he believes that the man spoke the truth.

I am going to find out what is going on because the man claims he knows someone who helped joran and the kalpoe brothers bury Natalee or was it he the who helped them...I don't know yet....I will come back later!!!!!!

The complaint didn't differentiate between Joran and Paul, but named them both. As you know Joran spend 3 months in jail, and was led before a judge to determine his prolonged detainment,Paul as well, you don't think the defense obtained any documents?
A suspect can be held in jail for say 116 days without charges being brought, but he is not totally without rights not even in the dutch/aruban system.
FBI documents I don't know, maybe they were part of the investigetion, remember the duct tape that was investigated by the FBI lab, they may have sent a report.

Sometimes the stupidity of people is breathtaking.

They didn't even mention a dollar amount, they are footing the bill for this suit and don't have a hope of getting a dime UNLESS the van der Sloot's participate, which they won't and unless they win a civil trial.

They filed this suit in a desperate attempt to get some of the documents related to the case and ask a last chance to get Joran van der Sloot and his father under oath. But since the van der Sloots are almost certain to simply go back to Holland, that isn't going to happen.

For exactly the same reason no lawsuit is ever going to be brought against Beth Twitty, Fox News or anyone else in this case....they will NEVER risk their son being deposed and called as a witness in a trial.

I think you don't have to worries about this news, as wreck say: every time new 'leads'come up to get Aruba and the Van der Sloots in the defense. The family of the Mansurs have a lot of money (and a newspaper which sucks..) and they have bribed a lot of Arubans to spread rumours about the Kalpoes and Van der Sloots.
I am very surprised you believe this news crap. I have seen this evening Joran in a NOVA interview and - boy - this is just a kid. He seems very sincere to me in his story on the events of the fatal night. The Van der Sloots look like a very nice family who are very open and sincere (totally contrary to the sharks of the Twitties from Alabama).
