Why anyone believes a thing this kid has to say about Natalee is beyond me. He said she was falling down drunk and then changed his story. He said she fell out of the car and then changed his story. He said he took her to the HI and then changed his story.

It is not normal for an innocent person to continually say negative things about a missing young girl. Even if it is true if he had any class at all he would keep his mouth shut and stop making her out to be some kind of sex fiend.

Joran van der Sloot disgusts me. We may never know exactly what it is he has gotten away with, but he is a pathetic excuse for a man.

I have now heard it out of his mouth in several interviews, I don't need anyone else's interpretation to make my judgement that Joran van der Sloot has no morals, no ethics, no shame and no remorse.

Natalee Holloway has not accused anyone of anything, therefore, a decent human being would NOT continually paint her out to be the sexual aggressor and say negative things about her behavior. She is not here to give her side of the story or to defend herself.

Only a coward would say the things about Natalee that Joran and Deepak have said. It is a short step from devaluing and demeaning a woman to abusing her.

Really? I am wondering which interviews you saw this in because I saw the same kid who told one reporter (about sex with Nat) that this area was none of his business (which it is not.) In the ABC interview I saw him admit the TMI of hands down each other's pants, but onlly when prodded by the interviewer.

All other stuff we have heard has come from Beth and Co. And most of the people who talked so much at the very beginning are strangely silent today.

I heard him say he had never done a body shot before, which I find very doubtful since he was a regular at C&C, where body shots are done all night every night by patrons of all ages.

I heard him say she wanted unprotected sex and he declined.

I heard him say she was the one in control that night, she 'screamed' at him from the dance floor, she wanted to go to his house, she wanted, she did....poor kid makes himself out like he had no control over any of the events.

I heard Deepak say she dressed like a slut and acted like a slut, which is pretty hard for me to accept having seen photos of Deepak, Joran and Satish with girls looking and acting much more provactive than Natalee was dressed that night.

I heard him say he would hate her if she was alive.

In short, I've heard all I need to hear to make a judgement about Joran.

PS: The MB photos do not come close to the photos of Joran passed out wtih a bottle in his hand or the multiple photos of 2 guys with one girl making the sign for group sex over their heads.

The statement about JvdS saying he'd hate NH if she were alive has been severely taken out of context. His implication was that if she were to pop in and say hello, that he would be pretty ticked after spending so much time being dragged through the mud and for spending his 18th birthday AND his graduation behind bars.

I've said it before, but things like this are just like reading the daily horoscopes--if you want to pick out something good, you can find it--and vice-versa.

OK I have never heard him say he never did a body shot before. Nor did I hear that Natalee insisted on unprotected sex--he said she was okay with sex but also that he did not have protection so they did not. Sounds like the change of heart was mutual--she was not trying for more. The "scream" from the dance floor was also a wave to him--"hey, we are over here" sort of thing. He did say she wanted to go here and there--in my eyes, he stressed that she did not want to go back to the hotel that night more than anything. In Deepak's eyes, she may have "looked like a slut" but face it, in the casino pics her skirt was riding off into the unknown--everyone would have known about her embroidered-flower panties. Add to that the cultural norms and you can see the other side...and Joran said nothing about her being a slut, looking like a slut or dressing like a slut.

As for hating her, he said he would hate her if she was alive and pulling a scam on her family because of what it has done to everyone involved---and frankly, I would, too.

I guess, for those who are completely convinced he is guilty then nothing will pass muster. The minds are already closed to any other possibilities. However, this is more like Chandra Levy's case--let's disregard any other possibilities other than "the last man she may have been with" even though two other former interns were found dead in the same area.

I am not sure of his innocence, nor am I sure of his guilt. I am sure there are definite cultural differences and a language barrier that can create misinterpretations and most of our info is third person.

If there were any cultural differences I think they would skew toward Mountain Brook being a much more conservative culture than the one Joran and his friends created.

Well, I read on another site where a Dutch man said he liked "screwing in his car." This can sound really bad to us, but the American colloquialism would be "screwing around with" or tinkering with his car. One can see where a word pattern can change the entire meaning and his native tongue is not English. And he never once called her slutty or trampy, literally or by interpretation...wasn't that Deepak on the doctored Skeeter tapes?

As for the sex and drug references...girls with their tongues down each other's throats (and other places)...boys making the same hand gestures as the Tickle site and calling themselves the PIMPs, and an annual survey conducted by MBHS shows that the kids there are not all that conservative, either.

The truth that is at the heart of this case is the belief of people like Dan, Antoinette and others that women are to blame for being assaulted and that if their behavior does not conform to some puritanical norm--no drinking, no flirting, no being alone with males, no 'willingly' going anywhere alone with them, no body shots, no kissing, no making out--then they are not deserving of protection from rape and assault.

"Good girls" it appears, are simply not sexual, they don't dress sexy, act sexy, or show any possible sexual interest in the opposite sex. Those girls, maybe, are deserving of belief and protection against rape and assault.

The other girls who dare to, act like the boys, flirt, dance, kiss, and act with an expectation that their limits, whatever they are or are not, will be respected are not to be believed, assumed to be twisted liars who "cry rape" at the drop of a hat and, regardless of what happened to them, it is mostly or partly their fault for not acting 'decent.'

The fact that this belief system has been imposed upon this case, where we don't even have a live woman to make any accusations shows just how far the issues of women and sex go in our culture.

Now that you opened the can of worms, how about personal accountability? You are right that drinking and flirting and leaving with a man is not an open invitation. However, one has to think before putting themselves in a risky position. If I am driving my new Ferrari with the top down and my doors unlocked through the worst neighborhood I can find, I am not asking to get carjacked--but I have increased my odds of such. If I decide to go jogging in Central Park at 4 AM wearing 25000 dollars in diamonds, I am not begging to get mugged and robbed...but I am setting myself for exactly that. Both women and men need to be less foolhardy in decision making and not put themselves in risky situation. Kids are taught this stuff today; why parents (who should know more than kids) would send their kids on a week long drink-fest is beyond me...especially after reading their school reports.

Natalee did not cry rape. She has not been seen around to do so. Her mother has, even though there is no sign of any of this coming to pass. I have heard that in his interview tonight he states that he does not believe Natalee is still alive. That remains to be seen. The fact remains ... Natalee is not here to defend herself. She may not have been an angel. Who are we to say or condemen her? Irregardless of what she may have said or done, does that make it right that any harm may have come to her? Did she deserve to be raped or murdered (if that's what happened)? I don't think so. The Twitty/Holloway family are doing what they have to do to find some sort of closure. Some of you are too narrowminded to remember or acknowledge that. Again, what we should focus on is the fact that Natalee is not here to defend herelf. That is true, but no one would ever suggest that your stupidity in any way mitigates the crime of the carjacking...they wouldn't say, well, since the person was driving through a bad neighborhood the criminal is going to get less time or maybe we will even let him off the hook.

Where in cases of rape, the behavior of the victim is almost always used as a mitigating factor, if you were acting stupid or making risky decisions then you are either not believed AT ALL or you're rapist is given a slap on the wrist.

I posed a recent case in NY and never got any response..the woman was extremely intoxicated, she stayed out by herself after 3am when her roommate went home, went to another bar by herself....isn't she at fault for whatever happened to her?

But of course no one answered because her body was found nude, dumped by the side of the road, her genitals were slit open and her entire face was wraped in clear tape...so no one is going to say she deserved it...but if she had shown up alive and said she was raped it would be a totally different story.
