Still a lot of chatter on the Holloway investigation, especially in light of the recent civil suit. There may be some minor updates here.
It seems a discrepancy is emerging over whether or not Satish actually drove Joran Van Der Sloot home. You can't dismiss the notion that if either of the Kalpoes did indeed drive Joran home that night, as some ealier reports suggest, then at least one, if not two people may have known that there was a young blonde American girl passed out or sleeping on a beach nearby, and basically out of view.
Were that the case, it appears as though Joran might not have had access to a vehicle for a quick return to the beach. That obviously can't be said for all of the boys.

Suppose just for a minute they didnt know...then why in the hell didnt they say that? Why continue to concoct stories out of thin air? Becuase they are all covering for Paulus...seems to me he FOUND OUT about Natalee missing and admitedly coached the 3 in what to say....why would he do that if they are innocent? LE knows that criminals lie and lawyers tell the truth but what do you get when you have a lawyer who is criminal?
Posted by: boywonder | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 01:28 PM
You know, boywonder, I'm not anywhere near Aruba, but I would bet a gazillion bucks that they've all 3 said "I don't know what happened to Natalee Holloway" at least a few times. If you haven't noticed, no one (namely, Beth Holloway Twitty, Fox, Alabama, and a small portion of the rest of the general American public) will accept that answer--even if it's a truthful one. Therefore, why wouldn't a person--especially a teen--try to find an answer that makes these people happy?
The Paulus van der Sloot quote has been quoted, re-quoted, mis-quoted, and changed a thousand times. I'm betting he only said it once--and--I wonder in what context it was meant...

Chin,
The Davis case is fairly new, it was only on the last month or so that the murder and perjury indictments were handed down, though I think she disappeared in '98ish.
I thought Peterson was guilty, there was no evidence or motive that someone else killed her; but I didn't follow the trial so can't say for certain whether the prosecution met reasonable doubt or not, I didn't think he should have gotten the death penalty though...
I thought the DA met the burden of proof in OJ and in Robert Blake's trial and think both those verdicts should have been guilty.
Posted by: xxx | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 01:35 PM
Okay...I've spoken way too much. I hope these posts continue...I'll continue to read them, but I'm done with writing. Thanks to those who responded!
Posted by: ChinbeardXIV | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 01:35 PM
xxx, I agree about Blake and Simpson...oh, yes. I don't think (from what the public saw) the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Peterson was guilty. As you know, the defense doesn't have to point a finger at anyone else...they merely have to show that the prosecution's case is doubtful within reason. I think they more than proved Peterson was a crappy husband and that he could have cared less that his wife was dead...but, I think they missed the mark in proving (reasonably) that he killed her.
That's it...I'm done. I'm killling Mr. Riehl's space with my rambling...
Posted by: ChinbeardXIV | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 01:38 PM
What is 'reasonable' is always the sticking point, my personal pet peeve is jurors who say "We thought he was guilty, but didn't think it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt"
That to me is unreasonable and stupid and a wrong understanding of the true meaning of reasonable doubt.
I would never in a million years vote not guilty if I thought the defendant was guilty...that kind of crackpot CSI thinking is exactly why Avila and Smith and Nichols were left free to graduate to murder.
Posted by: xxx | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 01:46 PM
Quick response...
I agree, xxx...reasonable doubt should be the subject of a short quiz during the jury selection phase of any trial. If the potential jurors need proof beyond the shadow of a doubt, they should be excused...quickly...

In the "Algemeen Dagblad", a newspaper from the Netherlands, there was written on Saturday February 18, 2006 that the Aruban Authorities got 5 new potential witnesses, including a long-distance call from a man speaking papiamento (native language of Aruba). This man burst into tears, saying that he cannot live any longer with what he knows and apparently knows where Natalee's grave lies. It is also written that Dompig believes this call as he can feel it in the man's voice that he cannot live any longer with the guilt of withholding the truth. In 2 weeks Aruba will get some "blood dogs" from the Netherlands to go search that area and they hope that they will also find Joran's sneaker which he had lost that night near the grave. Hope the truth will finally come out. Follow this link, it is in Dutch however.

Maxification: Pretty good post! I'm a believer that Natalie's life changed dramatically at 13 years, when her mother remarried. 5 years with the Major will do it. However, Natalie's trip to Aruba as an adult should have been more closely watched by the chaperones and her peers. You know that people do watch out for their own, especially in a situation like this unfortunate one.
There are people who have been through worse. My parents are divorced. My brother experienced the same thing at thirteen. My dad was, and still is, dating someone else. We didn't go out partying and screwing around. My dad was in the military and ignored us most of the time. Divorce shouldn't be the end all to someone's life. Try to make the best of it, even if you have to go to therapy.

All three lied and told the first story (HI drop off), therefore, all three are involved, maybe not to the same extent.

It's definitely a fact that all three have lied, but it's not a fact that they're involved, you know? I'm still thinking this thing will die down again and will eventually be nothing more than an unsolved mystery, forever...

Julia outed Garrison a while back that he was representing both Dave and Joran. (I personally feel there is something unethical about that) Garrison is very upset that the information is now out there for all to see. What is Garrison afraid of that Julia knows that he feels he has to slander her?
Julia is not writing a book, and certainly not about Jug impregnating Natalee.
And does anyone really believe that Aruba Today is upset because they did not get the Joran scoop? Come on, no offense, but Aruba Today is not the most read newspaper in the world.
Think about it, who announced this rumor about Natalee and Jug on national tv? It wasn't anyone from Aruba. What does Garrison have to gain by starting this rumor about Natalee again?
Posted by: CSI | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 02:57 PM
Julia and Garrison deserve each other.
They are both unethical liars who will change positions, alliances and beliefs depending on which way the winds of fame and money are blowing.
My guess and my hope is that we've seen the last of both of them as 'sources' on this case.

Then they convienantly tell of a drop off at the beach where no cameras are and everyone buys into it? If they told lie #1, lie #2 is no closer to the truth...

I just watched Dan Abrams and was apauled by the investigator Beau Dietl. What an obvious thug. He attacked Joran when came out of customs and started screaming at him using very foul language then shoved some papers down his jacket. This is not serving papers, this is attacking someone and is illegal, but NYC finest will do nothing because they are in league with this thug. I'm surprised ABC didn't do anything when Dietl and his 10 associates knocked the ABC producer down on the ground. It took two of them. Dietl never travels alone, as most cowards need many cohorts to feel brave. This was an attempt to scare Joran into not doing the interview. Beth and Company is desperate to keep his story away from the American public. He comes across too nice and good for them to keep attacking him as an animal. All the stories we hear about Joran lying is put out by Beth and Company. We have never seen any statements telling his side, just Beth Twitty's lies and innuendos. I think Joran told about the younger brother Satish picking him up some time ago and the ALE just didn't bother to let anyone know, but Bethie knew and she lied. She keeps on lying and her groupies keep making excuses for her saying she's the grieving mother and has a right to lie, attack, order murder and beatings, anything to get her way. This reminds me of the old classic, "MR SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON", does anyone remember that movie? How such hot shot southern man pushed his weight around a bought congressmen and senators and newspaper editors like it was nothing. He blocked all attempts of one lone newspaper to print the truth and even killed and maimed the young boys trying to deliver the papers. This rich white southern criminal businessman tried to shut up one lone honest senator, when he couldn't shut him up, he made every effort to make sure no one heard what he had to say. This is exactly what the Twitty machine is trying to do Joran Vandersloot and his family. The family and Joran come across too good and tell about things Beth Twitty doesn't want America to know. THIS MAKES AMERICA LOOK BAD, REALLY REALLY BAD. I for one do not want to be associated with the likes of Beau Diedt and John Q Kelly and Beth Twitty, the narcissitic limelight-loving, media-maven nut case.

I'd like to see an explanation from JQK why it was necessary for Bo Dietl, who's nothing but a media TH, to serve Joran in the public area of the airport, when he'd already been served. I'd be willing to bet the papers Dietl stuffed in Joran's coat were fake and it was staged for the media.
If, as Beth and JQK say, the VDSs just came to America as a publicity stunt to taunt the Family and they had no right to be here, why did Beth keep going to Aruba and why is JQK going there, now? There's nothing JQK can do there that can't be done on the phone or email. They've said they'll do anything to keep Natalee's case before the public, which means everything -they're- doing is, admittedly, a publicity stunt.

"Today no more information than what we have been reading on blogs are published. All the newspapers focus on the NOVA interview and one in particular pointed out some information that was not clear whether it was a discrepancy by Joran or simply they (we) are not that well informed about the case itself. It’s the part where Joran said he was with Natalee on the Holiday Inn beach. This beach is a few hundred yards away from the Fisherman’s beach and there are three hotel buildings (Marriot) that separate these beaches.
However, locals might understand why Joran may call this whole area the Holiday Inn beach. Marriot hotels are the most recent hotels built on the island, for years that whole area including the fisherman’s hut (it was not even called so in the past) and Moomba Beach (just in the past couple of years got that name) was called the beach of Holiday In, where local people used to camp and this name has been carried on for years even after Marriot came.
Another example is the beach in front of the Wyndham hotel. That whole area is part of the Palm Beach, but locally it is still call the Concorde Beach, even though this hotel has been gone for over 20 years.
However it could be practically impossible to be on the beach IN FRONT of holiday inn, without anyone noticing that."

There were witnesses to the first serving and there's no legal requirement for process service to be on video. The way Dietl served the papers, if they were indeed legal papers, was illegal (battery). I hope, for his sake, it was only a media stunt. It could also be considered harassment to serve the papers twice.

I agree that Holloway-Twitty family should have taught their daughter a little bit more responsibility. If her friends were begging her not to leave with this Vander character. It is obvious that they took heed to the teachings they were taught at five years old. DO NOT GET IN CARS WITH STRANGERS. Although she did not take heed. If the Vander character did infact do something sinister to this young girl, he will eventually get caught. BOTTOM LINE. Just like Scott Peterson went on GoodMorning America and CLAIMED. He did not KILL his wife and he was exposed. The same exposure will happen to the Arubians.

He is now saying that the boys are not admitting to anything now to keep the attention off themselves. It seems this is what caused the division in friendship.

Joran is addressing the lawsuit. He says his parents did not know what he did (sexually) that he was not a sexual predator. That his father didn't know the HI story was false, he doesn't THINK he KNOWS.
Allegations about other girls in his past with date rape drugs. "That's ridiculous, there is not one girl that will come forward and say that."
He's lawyered up folks, this is obvious. He's been coached big time.
