I don't get this at all - and I absolutely don't trust it. Why the hell is a center for Peace studies doing a poll like this? And the fact is I don't care if it's a trustworthy poll via Zogby, or not. What the hell is anyone doing polling troops in the first place? A military isn't a got-damned democracy.
This country is getting freaking insane.
The poll, conducted in conjunction with Le Moyne College’s Center for Peace and Global Studies
Le Moyne College/Zogby Poll shows just one in five troops want to heed Bush call to stay “as long as they are needed”
While 58% say mission is clear, 42% say U.S. role is hazy
Plurality believes Iraqi insurgents are mostly homegrown
Almost 90% think war is retaliation for Saddam’s role in 9/11, most don’t blame Iraqi public for insurgent attacks
Majority of troops oppose use of harsh prisoner interrogation
Plurality of troops pleased with their armor and equipment

All this is doing is confusing the situation even more, though I think President Bush was right to go after evil Saddam, after the brilliant routing of the Taliban. At this rate it will end up with the military having to go ask their mums before they decide whether or not to go fight in any war, just like Cindy Sheehan would wish!

Absolutely agree. Sickening and subversive.

When it comes to mideast polls, Zogby has been notoriously tilted.
Real surprise.

A stupid military pol. You would need to be stupid to think that the Iraq war is retaliation for Saddam’s role in 9/11. The Iraq war was because Saddam was developing WMDs with plans to pass these weapons off to terrorists. That's how it was sold.

Remember that it was Zogby who f'd up the last Presidential exit poll in an effort to swing the election to the Dems. A Zogby poll is as good as a National Enquirer Poll in my book.

this poll is bullshit

Yeah, why would a center for peace studies want to know anything about war?
This country is not insane. It is retarded.

Of course a center for peace studies has every right to conduct a poll like this! Isn't the US bringing PEACE and stability to Iraq? At least, that's the party line. And if reality shows something different, then reality is wrong. Just like this poll is wrong. If you don't like the outcome, then of course there was something wrong with it.
I wonder if you would have bashed the poll too if the outcome had been wholehearted support among the military? A little voice tells me no.
