I think Hugh Hewitt is on to something here.
Gregory is now caught up in controversy and he's both stonewalling and trying to change the subject.
The facts just don't add up. Consummate professional Gregory has a meltdown on and off camera at a White House press briefing almost a week ago. Yet, not until 05:12 pm ET, 02/17/06) do we get this from behind the iron curtain of NBC.
Let me say at the outset that I was wrong to lose my temper at Scott McClellan.
And from there only stone walling, rationalization and a seemingly manipulative attempt to blame the victim - Scott McClellan. Hmm.
he suggested my aggressive questioning about the disclosure of the hunting accident was a stunt for the cameras. He said this during a morning OFF CAMERA briefing, which undercut his point. Furthermore, I considered it a cheap shot.
Why didn't Gregory release this statement right away? Did he need time to couch his response? Was Gregory given a breathalyzer test immediately after the incident? Still, I've seen no police report. And why isn't he talking to reporters outside NBC?
Come on, David ... you should know better than this. Everyone knows it's the cover up, not the crime. America has a right to know! Is there a wet spot upon the grassy knoll?

David:
Thank you for the invaluable service that you provide to a grateful nation....NOT!

David Gregory revealed the autocratic arrogance of the
'free press' and the msm in his blow up. He is NOT fit
to be a 'journalist', 'correspondent' nor 'reporter' in
any guise whatever. Just the latest to reveal that the
media is untruthful, unreliable and prejudiced. He
should join rather on the unemployment line.
