One source suggests she wasn't so lucky with the Kalpoes and was escorted away from the house by ALE.
The interview got off to a slow start. Joran agreed to do it at 10 a.m., but his parents showed up with one of his former teachers and they were much opposed to it. They spent more than an hour meeting with him privately to convince him not to do it. I was not completely worried that the interview would be aborted, since Joran was extremely determined to do it. We let them talk of course and then, after a long talk, Joran said he was ready. I did speak to his parents and assured them that I had no tricks. I was just going to ask questions — what happened? And what happened next? And then? And next? — and let Joran talk. I told them that my questions were straightforward and that if he got "hurt" in the interview, it would be his doing and not mine since I had not tricks up my sleeve. I just wanted to ask him questions about that night and other related issues.

You are so disingenious, "one source"...Greta says on her own blog that the Kalpoes wouldn't talk to her and that those inside were hurling insults at her.

"one source"...
LOL Her blog says nothing about ALE. And "I'm" disingenuous (spelled correctly by the way) ... you moron. (xxx) Must be on the side of your jug.

He didn't want his mom and dad in the room with him when he did the interview? How well does that set with Paulus?
Either this guy is a total ego-man or he has the talking and he can't shut up illness.

You are truly pathetic, Dan.
Is that the best you can do? Criticize my spelling. Oooh, good one, you really put me in my place with that.

Geeez..ya'll are so busy trying, especially xxx, to prove him guilty that you can't even use your brains. Pathetic!!!

Gagal,
I am so glad you informed me of that, I did not know the interview air already.
PS teacher did not want him to talk about the night Natalee was missing, surely impartial
UR Pathetic

I think we're all inferring a bit more than was actually given to us. I took the teacher's words as meaning that there would be no questions like, "Okay, Joran...tell me what happened that night..." and such. Instead, I'm sure they wanted ask & answer questions like, "What time did you leave?" and "Who picked you up?". It's like those damned long-form questions we fought through in school...when we all wanted True/False or Multiple Choice...you know?

If you read Greta's blog you will that is not the case, they were trying to get Greta to agree NOT to ask Joran anything about what happened that night, which of course she didnt' agree to and told them that was what she wanted to talk about.
Posted by: xxx | Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 12:58 PM
xxx, that was her interpretation of what the teacher said...nothing more. I read the blog.
Posted by: ChinbeardXIV | Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 12:59 PM
Her interpretation? Don't you think a TV host/reporter doing an interview knows what the intent of the person's statement was?
Posted by: xxx | Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 01:01 PM
Very good Joran didn't want his parents to join his conversation with Greta but his former teacher instead. Its looks so stupid to have Mommy and Daddy nearby all the time for a 18 year old.

I think he did better than that....by pointing out that Greta's blog did not say anything about her being escorted away by ALE. Hence the "one source" is not Greta.

RE: "Rumor has it that Greta now believes Joran."
Does Greta believe Joran when he sez he walked back from the beach, when he sez Depak drove him home, when he sez Satish drove him home, when he sez he had sex with Nat or when he sez he didn't have sex with Nat? Or does she believe Joran's original lie that he he dropped Nat off at the hotel (and two black security guards took her)? Precisely which lie does she believe?

I think anyone (especially Van Susteren) doing a story for Fox is going to do and/or say whatever it takes to sell the story, up to and including giving a flamboyant spin to anything involving Mr. van der Sloot or Miss Holloway.

I believe Joran had the teacher in with him as the teacher would be a very reliable witness to the interview. With his parents, people would say, of course they would stick up for their son.

Greta knows more about the ins and outs of this case than anyone else who has covered it. If anyone is equiped to interview the principles in the case it is Greta.
While I like Nancy Grace, she has gotten a lot of facts wrong, but she doesn't really care. Dan Abrams is fair, but he hasn't followed the case in as much detail and so is probably not acquainted wtih all of the various shifts, changes and directions.

I bet he doesn't!

"I am not sure who was screaming at me, but I think it was the Kalpoe brothers' mother and stepfather... and maybe the grandmother."
Hilarious. I hope she got that on tape. I'd pay to listen to that.
Joran's running scared.

And it is all about rating to Gretas. Surely you did not mention principles in the same sentence referring to the fiasco she has run for 9 months with Beth by her side. What a joke!!
Primetime with Joran beat all cable stations combined for view that night. Beth may think that Greta is her bud, but ratings is the name of the game to Greta and it appears that Joran is the way to go.
BTW - Good to see, Chin :))

What about the magnets, pins, clocks, t shirts, etc that have Natalee's name and face plastered all over them and the money is going back to AmSouth. Oh and let's not forget the autographed poster that Beth auctioned off in Houston. Real class.

Posted by: hardyandtiny | Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 01:26 PM
Greta has never accused the suspects of anything, she has repeatedly said that while lying looks suspicious it isn't evidence of any crime against Natalee.
Do you think nobody has been trying to get an interview with Joran until ABC and then they all said 'hey, wish we had thought of interviewing Joran?" Geeze.
Networks generally have more viewers than cable, certainly network news shows have more viewers than cable news shows, but what does that prove? Not much, except maybe that the Natalee case proved such a ratings bonanza to cable TV that the networks finally couldn't pass it up and so did their own show.
Of course the story brings in ratings otherwise it wouldn't be on TV after nine months, it brings in ratings because PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED,which is the same reason nobody reads this blog except for stories related to Natalee and nobody ever heard of Scared Monkeys before this case.

Van Susteren has gone about it wrong (in my mind) because she has chosen a side. It's like watching Duke playing basketball with Billy Paker doing the play-by-play. He's so pro Duke these days that it's not even enjoyable.
If Ms. Van Susteren had chosen to keep her distance from BHT personally and kept both sides at the same arm's length, I might have more respect for her. The way it is now, though, she's only about a fraction of an inch better than Nancy (dis)Grace!
It's all about the ratings...

Here is my list of questions for Joran...I wonder how many I will get answers to from Greta sitting down for a couple of hours?
1. Did you have any contact with NH prior to 5/29/05, if so, what day and where were you at?
2. I would like to go through in as much detail the timeline of May 29th, May 30th and May 31st as possible...
- What time did you first go to the Casino/Hotel? Who took you there and who were you with?
- Once at the casino, what did you do?
- Did you make or receive any cell phone calls or text messages while you were there?
- How long did you play blackjack with the MB group?
- What time did you leave the table? Did you leave by yourself or did someone go with you?
- Where did you go when you left the casino? Who did you meet up with?
Assuming he sticks with the published reports that he walked to the MacDonalds and his Dad picked him up around 11:00pm...
- Where did you go once your Dad picked you up?
- Did you spend any time talking with your Dad?
- Didn't he just return a day or two earlier from being gone for a year?
- What time did you leave your apartment?
- How did you get to C&C and who were you with?
- Did you stop anywhere along the way to C&C?
- Did you meet up with any other people you knew once you got there?
- If you are like a normal teenage boy, someone caught your eye that made you go there, who was it?
- Take us through the time you spent at C&C's?
- Did you know anyone else there besides K2?
- Was NH the only MB student you had contact with while at C&C's?
- About what time did you leave C&C?
- Did you stop anywhere, another bar, hotel, home, hangout, etc?
- Did you meet up with anyone else either in person or contact anyone by phone?
- Did either Kalpoe brother contact anyone by phone?
- Did you go by your house?
- Did you go to the lighthouse area?
- Did you go directly to the beach?
- Once K2 dropped you off, did you and NH talk to anyone in person or by phone while together?
- Who did you contact for a ride home?
- How did you contact them text message or voice call?
- Who answered the message? Was it Deepak or Satish?
- Do you know where they were when they answered your message?
- Who picked you up?
- If it is Satish, like he said earlier...do you know if Deepak was at home during the time Satish came to get you?
- Why did you have to email or text message Deepak once you got home? Wasn't he at home and knew that Satish was the one that came and got you?
- Did you go straight home?
- What time did you get there?
- Where was the computer located that you accessed the soccer scores and porn site? Was it in your apartment or the main house?
- Once you got home and before going to school the next day, did you or your Dad contact any of the other witnesses by phone?
- What conversations did you have the next day at school regarding NH?
- What did you do after school that day?
- Where did you go the next night and who were you with?
- How did you get there?
- Is there any witnesses or hard evidence (video, otherwise) that can place you where you say you were at?
I'm sure this group has more questions they would like answered...this is my starting list...come on Greta, get to the bottom of this and let us form a real opinion.

Arubaanse that not wise to do.

I would have done the same thing if she came knocking at my door. They have met her before they have let her come into their house before and what happened? She goes on tv and talk bad things about the Kalpoe brothers for almost 9 moths now.
Posted by: Arubaanse | Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 01:33 PM
When the best your mother can do is say "Big people lie" they deserve whatever scorn they get.
With that kind of attitude from their own mother it is no wonder they thought nothing of lying for 11 days and letting two innocent guys rot in jail under rape/murder/kidnapping charges.
Greta was very fair and nice to Mrs. Ramirez when she interivewed her, nicer than she deserved in my opinoin.
Posted by: xxx | Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 01:39 PM
Big people do lie, xxx...every single one of them, actually, at one point or another.
Posted by: ChinbeardXIV | Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 01:50 PM
NADIRA RAMIREZ, SATISH AND DEEPAK KALPOE'S MOTHER:"And then he start to tell me that, Mom, you know the girl that's missing. Maybe you guys read the paper and news and all those things. I said, Yes. And like, you know, I said, What do you know about this? And then he said that we give that girl a lift that night."
That's all you need to know. The ALE didn't even go to the Kalpoe house and interview the mom. She didn't even know her son's were involved. Natalee could have been in the Kalpoe's house for three days and no one woud have known.
