Challenging The MSM 2

I received a fairly solid response to this post, calling for the MSM to stand up for freedom of the press and publish, in some unified manner, the cartoons of Mohammed. Several blogs and readers have signed onboard. But it will take some help to accomplish.

While wide-open for input, here's the basic plan as of now.

I have an email list for 20 of the largest newspapers saved in text with semi-colon delineation for compatibility with an email program. If anyone wishes to add media contacts for local and regional newspapers, please send them in email.

If some code junkie wishes to build an ap to send a letter out to these addresses, let's co-ordinate that in email. Otherwise, the contact list could easily be copy and pasted into an address block in your own email program. I'd suggest BCC.

I'll also draft a letter citing the recent editorial from Jeff Jacoby at The Globe and the article from Jyllands-Posten editor, Flemming Rose in the WaPo, pointing out their rationale for support of publication. Individuals can write their own letter, or copy and paste my sample in as their own.

Even if the media fails to come together and support the effort in the name of free speech, at least some number of us who opt to participate will. That individual decision is up to you.

...When hitler drove the masses towards fascism he did so using:

Terror (against any opposition)
Instill Fear (in his followers for others who might harm them,kill their babies,rape their wives)
Mass Propaganda
Teach violence:make the crowds agressively defend their beliefs.Others are afraid to speak up
Nationalism :Create hero's or examples. Make people proud!
Make it clear they are victims of the enemy, they deserve justice
blame a group that is vunerable (the jews)
Get ellected/get the majority to support your movement using the above.
gear up for war (hitler-youth learn the basics of war and get hardened at young ages)
Buy time with the world .......
attack and try to dominate the world

well copy paste that to the current situation....and fill in bin laden or whatever instead of hitler..presto...history repeats itself.Lets hope we find the guts to stoop to a lower level to deal with this scum...Unfortunalty the only way to win involves more violence...

Of course it involves more violence. There is, in fact, a moral imperative to use violence specifically targeted to rid the earth of those who use violence indiscriminately or in service of an evil ideology.

War solves problems. Not perfectly, but no human solution works perfectly. Imagine a world where no one opposed Japanese imperialism or Hitler's fascist dreams. Imagine a world in which Pol Pot, Mao or Stalin strode forth unopposed.

Too bad John Lennon was too stoked on s*** to write a song about THAT possibility.

Best way to cope with hitler prolly would have been to establish a counter movement also using forcefull ways to oppose fascism... in fact anti-fascism is very close to it... UK and US bombed more german civillians than the germans could bomb back... The only defense was: they started it...cumulating in the destruction of 2 japanese cities with the atomic bomb. It is against this sheer power to destroy that the modern world was allowed to develop...The sooner new threats become visible in the eyes of the broader public the better...We need to contain the systematic infiltration of our society with those merely wishing its destruction and using its liberty and freedom against it..Democratic states only exist because the peoples who populate them do not mis-use their freedoms.
When every-one exercises their rights too frequently it becomes too costly to uphold them and society falters. It is exactly this weakness of our type of governance these neo-fascists are exploiting....only those who are doing this openly are actually helping us to see who they really are.
