Today is WTW, or White Trash Wednesday. Who better to honor today than the wonderful Senators on the Judiciary Committee - seemingly intent on embarrassing themselves through a confrontation with an intelligent, accomplished individual like Judge Samuel Alito.
Apparently Kennedy and Specter had a cat fight, Biden asked five questions over thirty-five minutes but talked for 26 or so of them, himself - Leahy stayed awake .. I think, and on and on it goes. What a joke.
I haven't been watching; I suspect relatively few have. However, from most reports, any available video might be the best argument for term limits we've ever seen. We elect and re-elect these idiots in a system they've designed to give significant advantage to an incumbent. Can you tell I'm not pleased with these professional politicians having such a strangle hold on Washington?
We should throw at least eighty percent of them out and give them jobs with the State Department to help fight Avian Flu outbreaks. They could actually accomplish something for a change by traveling abroad and choking their chickens over there. Seriously, I've grown tired with watching it happen here.

...Frankly, Alito scares the sh*t out of me... His views vis a vis Roe v. Wade, choice, and a whole host of other things are Victorian, at best...

Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out -- Emperor Claudius.
It's time to stop warning people about these wing-nuts and let
them see what it's like to live under them.

I watched a little of the hearings today. They should be called "Listenings" instead of 'hearings'. What torture to have these fools pontificate ad nauseum with no one to shut them up. There should be no vote. If the person sitting at the little table all by himself manages not to say 'screw this' and walk out, then he automatically wins. Listening to all that bloviating is worse than anything he'll have to face in court: He deserves to win if he sits it out. Hear! Hear!

Dan?... do you win some kind of white trash award because you're mentioned
twice on there?
Posted by: AuntB | Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 05:58 PM
Just my thoughts.......
It's amazing how Alito can be interrogated for days on end to join the Supreme Court.....yet....Ted kennedy can sit there and question him on issues that are far less important than leaving a woman to drown in a submerged car.....
Things that make you say Hmmmmmm....

For God's sake, the man was/is against women and minorities attending Princeton, is against the standard Constitutional "one man, one vote" doctrine, oppposes choice, even if a woman has been assaulted or her life is in danger from a pregnancy, is for increasing unfettered powers of the Executive Branch, and a whole host of other really frightening things...Kinda like Senator McCarthy and his ilk, only a much smoother operator...[*shudders*]
[...Maybe we'll find out he's been having an affair with Dawn Eden or something...LOL]

ITS A DAMN SHAME THAT TED KENNEDY WAS NOT THE ONE TO BE DONE IN. HE IS A DISGRACE TO HIS FAMILY AND THE USA.
John Kennedy & Robert Kennedy would have never have carried on the Kennedy name like he does.
A very sick man and a murderer as well! A real creep.

Ted Kennedy is not going to be on the Supreme Court; Alito is the candidate...let's talk about why you wish to see him on the Court (If, in fact you do), rather than reiterating what you don't like about Kennedy....it'd make a whole lot more sense, eh? :) :P

If these guys were GOP operatives the hearings and NSA stuff would be knocked off the front page:

after the 2000 campaign, how we could have a story slip through the cracks that is about an orchestrated national campaign to disenfranchise voters coordinated by a national political party is a mystery......unless they are dems

Columbo
Yes Hillary and Harry with Jesse Jackson at the party where CHaaavez is the host. Free oil to all who attend...wear you polyester pant suit, and well take a ride on a banana boat. Speaking of the free oil, like how is that gonna work? Is Jesse gonna be in charge to disperse it? I see the sign now. Chaavez charity begins at home. Help your own people first.
Oh here I go ranting again. OOPs
In reality just think of the paradise we'd live in if these guys would get to the work at hand, scary huh.

Duh.... cappuccina
have another cup of coffee. wake up and smell the flowers. Take off the rose colored glasses.
there is nothing wrong with Alito. A good man and a decent family. Good for him when he gets
on the supreme court. We need a man like him there.
Murderer Kennedy might do better to clean up his own backporch before he goes trying to clean up Anyone elses. Creeps do flock together.

WaterBoy Kennedy irks the heck out of me and thats just putting it mildly. It stuns me that he has the right to question anyone. Waterboy got thrown out of college for cheating. For paying someone to take his exams. He also is gutless. He left a poor woman to die. Judge Alito held his own with these clowns. I would say he more than held his own. As for the senators they should be ashamed of themselves. Some of you voters of theses states of these clowns should WAKE UP!!!! WATERBOY KENNEDY SHOULD NOT BE IN THE US SENATE!!!!! There I feel a bit better but not much.
Posted by: Kelly3 | Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 09:11 PM
Kennedy is trailer trash. How the hell he keeps
getting elected is beyond me. The people of the state
where he lives must be paid off to vote for him each
time. He is pure slime.

Thanks Columbo for presenting that story by the democrats that coerced people to slash the tires of republicans. I don't understand who or why anyone would call themselves a democrat or a liberal now. I really don't understand why the democratic party would let someone like Kennedy or Pat Leahy question anyone let alone someone as intelligent as a Supreme Court Judge no matter who they are. These two clowns are wasting more of the governments money just so they can give a speech that no one cares about.
Posted by: brent | Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 10:09 PM
The real story is that since 2000 we've been listening to story after story of voter disenfranchisement from the MSM. Here we have an indictment alleging that there was a coordinated national strategy being executed by a national political party to disenfranchise voters....and where the hell is the MSM now??????!!!!!!!

PAPER: Sen. Kennedy was member of all-male club
Wed Jan 11 2006 22:40:10 ET
Conservative activists aree eager to point out that Sen Ted Kennedy was on shaky ground accusing the Judge Alito of associating with people opposed to the inclusion of women in private institutions, the WASHINGTON TIMES is fronting on Thursday.
The eight-term senator belonged to an all-male social club -- the Owl -- at Harvard University. The Owl refused to admit women until it was forced to do so during the 1980s, according to records kept by the HARVARD CRIMSON, the student newspaper.
A Kennedy spokeswoman said it was an entirely different matter.
"No one can question Senator Kennedy's commitment to equality, justice and civil rights," said Laura Capps. "What he was part of was a social club, not a radical group pushing a radical agenda."
Anyway, she said, even though women were admitted to the university during Mr. Kennedy's tenure, they weren't fully integrated to the campus until much later.

Yeah, yeah, according to some.....Alito is inconsistent.
However, if I was to be in a car accident, dove into the water...I'd certainly rather be with Alito than Kennedy. IMO, at least Alito would try to save my life. I don't think Alito would be diddle dickin' around, wondering how to maintain his reputation...ignore the situation and let me drown......while he pondered how to make himself look better. I'd be in a car wreck with Alito anyday, rather than that wuss boy Teddy.
Ted Kennedy has some nerve to question Alito about anything IMO....considering he left that poor girl to die........! What a pig. He should be on trial for manslaughter rather than questioning a prospective member of the Supreme Court. What a joke........

Alito sounds like he would be a perfect choice for SCOTUS.
But his wife shouldn't attend the hearings if she cant take it and gets all emotional, she needs to show more dignity..
As to the fawning all over Alito by the Republicans or the attacks by the Dems, politicians are all the same regardless of the R or D after their names.
Lately Pres is pulling a Kerry-flipflop on some issues like the illegals issue.
