Broke on the radio - also Drudge has a mention, said to be a female reporter. Not sure if it could be Jill Carrol, or not.
Al-Jazeera has aired a tape of a hostage American reporter along with a statement saying the U.S. has three days to free female prisoners in Iraq or she will be killed... Developing...
Update - it is Jill Carrol. Also see today's CSM which already had a detailed piece stating no new developments prior to airing of the tape.
DUBAI (Reuters) - The abductors of U.S. journalist Jill Carroll have threatened to kill her if the United States does not free Iraqi women prisoners within 72 hours, Al Jazeera television said on Tuesday. The station aired a brief video apparently showing Carroll speaking to the camera, without broadcasting her voice.

Real men aren't they? One thing about it..killing women is not going to help their cause any more than blowing up everyday civilians. They definitely are not the brightest bulbs in the house.

Bad deal, but there is a chance our military may be able to rescue her like the two Baptist women in Afghanistan--Heather and Dawn. If not, we can not negotiate with terrorists, no matter how cold it seems, the consequences are much worse.

I agree with chief and alamo. I pray our Special Ops unleash hell.

I hope there is someway, somehow, that she can be rescued before this happens.
Bless the family and friends of this lady.
This is sad.

why not negotiate to free the american female. let a few iraqi women out of jail. It is known that after 911 several muslims women and men were incarcerated soley because they were muslim and there were no known terrorist ties. If we allow them to come and report the news, then provide protection. why don't we change their names and call them freedom fighters. Maybe they play by different rules. Negotiate now and possibly save many soldiers from fatal roadside bombings and assaults on helicopters. Save Jill Carroll's life!!!!!

"Maybe they play by different rules. Negotiate now and possibly save many soldiers from fatal roadside bombings and assaults on helicopters. Save Jill Carroll's life!!!!!" I understand your intent on this but how can possibly negotiate with someone who's ACTUALLY WILLING to strap bombs to babies and send them into crowds of innocent people who may or may not agree with them.
It's like asking a Drug Dealer to have a conscience, possible but highly unlikely.
I disagree with their mindset and methods but God knows we didn't help the situation by invading them ON THE rationale provided by our leaders in the first place, but this is where we are and you can't negotiate with a person that has no Conscience.
