The NYT sat on the story for a year.

Kind of makes you wonder who our real enemy is in this global war on terror.

CMon Phoenix, I abhor the NYT as much as the next guy, but your comment is analagous to claims that Bush is the greatest terrorist in the world.

The terrorists are our real enemies in the war on global terror.

OH. Not THAT Andrew McCarthy.

It is all in the planning and timing....worked quite well don't you think?

Al Gore was wrong because there actually IS legal precident:

He (Gore) said the spying program must be considered along with other administration actions as a constitutional power grab by the president. Gore cited imprisoning American citizens without charges in terrorism cases, mistreatment of prisoners _ including torture _ and seizure of individuals in foreign countries and delivering them to autocratic regimes "infamous for the cruelty of their techniques."

Columbo....do some real, and creditable research. In 1943 the Supreme Court of the United States rendered the decision that the Bill of Rights could NEVER...get that word...need a dictionary?...NEVER legally be infringed upon by ANY government entity (that includes the president, in case you don't know it) REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCES becauss they are NOT grants of government...they are natural rights that belong to all men and you cannot even give them away. It is no different than your right to air, it cannot be taken away unless they kill you...and then they are guilty of a crime.
Look it up...and read it for yourself.

Therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE to have "legal precedent."

Listen, you are soooo eager to be a slave, why not just move to Cuba? Nice weather, and perhaps they need some cheerleading to inspire their people.
If you need any funds let me know, I will be happy to donate a few dollars so that you can go live in paradise....

Hey Columbo!!!

I got it...I got your dream job!!!, and you are one of the best I have seen at it....so you should get paid. Why not apply with the government and go to work for them dispelling disinformation? This way you can get paid for trying to fool people into becoming a slave such as yourself!

That is...if you don't already have that job...

ask the Japanese detainees during WWll....or the press that was not allowed to go to press with news during that war.....the rules change when the battlefield is within U.S. borders-you are delusional-this is a military operation....if a WMD was detonated in your backyard we'd have martial law tomorrow.....the battlefield intelligence collected without warrants is for military uses (google: Pakistan, Predator)-there will be no due process...it is collected at offshore sites....don't flatter yourself....nobody is breaking any laws to listen to you-trust me

_______

Thanks for clearing that up for me, ViVi. I was sorely confused and you helped. However, allow me to point out that my statement is far from 'analogous' to Bush being the greatest terrorist in the world. That statement is pure, unadulaterated, asinine hyperbole. My statement is mere pondering of the enemy within. That enemy can be as deadly as the enemy out there,- those global terrorists you reminded me of. Just so you know - I am a Bush fan and a die-hard neo-con. No need to talk down to me. No need at all.....

there's alot of that going around

Proves you did exactly no research, because the decision I quoted to you was in direct response to the Japanese detainees...and as a result, they were set free. You should always at least try to find out something about what others are talking about before you catch your foot in your own web...that web, you create for yourself out of your blind obedience and follower instinct.

Excellent try though! hey! You are progressing. But unfortunately for you and the slavemaster wannabes it holds zero, none--no legal grounds. In other words there is no "except for" in the law. Nice try at fomenting disinformation...I think you have potential! (Like it makes a difference where it is gathered from?)
Imposition into the private affairs of one (American citizen) is against the law unless due process is followed--PERIOD. As our own government made perfectly clear---NO ONE can set aside the law, nor become a law unto themselves---nuclear device, 5000 nuclear devices, space monsters, space invaders and any other demon you can imagine to conjur into your fearful little self. Quit shaking in your boots--the nuclear deal is gonna happen anyway.
I will make this prediction. There WILL be a nuclear device detonated. When that happens they will declare martial law and what is left of the republic of the United States will suffer its final blow. Then you can have your slave society that you so ardently desire.

You are pretty good at disinformation, unfortunately that is what it is--holds no legal grounds and is based upon arousing the emotions of the target. Sorry, but not buying. When I was a kid and Americans had nuts there was a saying that went around: "better dead than red." Still stands--for real Americans, no matter how hard you try.

how the intercepts are used...and NOT by the Dept of Justice:

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Investigation/story?id=1517986

we're making little trees with little al qaeda phone numbers and email addresses for leaves....it is a military operation...connecting the dots

"The Constitution is not a suicide pact." ...Lincoln

(Like it makes a difference where it is gathered from?)

it does legally-surprised you missed it

I was hoping you could do a litle better than that....keep studying...hey!--Try reading the Constitution...you might learn something, then again......your job might be in jeoprody...
