Yes, that's right - just in case it isn't all over the news, I'm soooooooooo pleased to tell you that the idiots who run our state government in New Jersey have settled on a new state slogan. And, my, isn't it catchy. Gawd, I don't even want to think what they paid some politican's cousin to dream up this pathetic excuse for a state slogan.
Are you ready .... wait for it ....
New Jersey: Come See For Yourself!
Barf! They could have at least made it memorable - you know, something like, come see for yourself, asshole! But, noooooooooooooooo! My gawd, this state is such a damned embarassment. Only New Jersey could come up with a state slogan seemingly designed to turn people off, or away - or just flat out piss them off. You don't believe me?
Well, come see for yourself!
Damn, that slogan sux.

I was hoping "New Jersey: Love at first sight", or "New Jersey: The best kept secret" would win.
Being a new New Jersian, I thought they both summed it up perfectly.

hahahaha....oh god.....that is SO lame. "Come see for yourself" just BEGS you to say, "Nahh."
I was born there.... in New Brunswick. My father was a professor at Rutgers. I should be outraged.
D'oh. They should change the slogan to : Been there; Done that. arf!

My favorite part of NJ is still the sign on the Trenton Makes Bridge connecting NJ and PA from Trenton to Morrisville.
Trenton Makes the World Takes.
Of course us PA'ers used to say The world refuses, Trenton Uses ;)

My personal favorite is "New Jersey: You Got a Problem With That?" If New Jersey wants to pull in tourists, a slogan that's more fitting for a nursery's new spring floral offerings just ain't gonna do it.

i was in hawai'i last week and, after a crappy layover in texas on the way over, i came up with this one;
NJ: It ain't hawai'i, that's for damn sure. But at least it isn't texas, yo.
my boyfriend said it was a little too long.

I'd much rather live in Texas than NJ.. That is why everyone from New Jersey says there from NY.. Guess thats not gonna stop anytime soon..

I think they left out the first part of the slogan..."Yeah, we're filled with drugs, crime and corruption, come see for yourself".

"Come see for yourself" is just a notch about "Get otta here!"

What a freakin joke. I have a better one Come Smell it Yourself how's that for slogan. Its disgusting I did move from Brooklyn to New Jersey for a surburban lifestyle and yes its great for raising kids depending on where you live. Who thought of that slogan how embrassing.

How about "Get your EZPass ready"

Wait! It's a trick!!! Isn't NJ still the only state that you have to pay a toll to get OUT OF?!??!
Sure they want you to come see for yourself.... but once you get there you've gotta pay to escape!!! LOL

My state is VIRGINIA IS FOR LOVERS. Yeah? That's a little too assuming. I mean, if you drove all around our state on its magnificent highway/Interstate system and people were humping all over the median strips and in country-road ditches, it'd be one thing; but who knows what people are lovin' up here except their snotty selves.

i think its a lame slogan, and i'd rather be in hawaii, but honestly? i have to defend my state. where else do you have mountains and beaches, foliage that almost matches new england's, 4 seasons, and the NY skyline? Here, guys.
a lot of us identify as new jerseyans AND new yorkers, but that's usually those of us who work in the city, which a lot of us do.

Hey, hey - don't be knockin' Texas, y'all!! Although I'm a native New Yawkuh (and live here again), I was raised in Texas, and it'll always seem like home. I did live in Joisey for a year as a transition between TX & NY, and my suggestion for a state motto is "I came. I saw. I moved away." :)

Too late for this thread..just found
it.After living there for 24 years
and fleeing 2 years ago my choice
would be..."New Jersey,our hand and
your pockets...perfect together."
