The Palestinian people elected a terrorist government today. They did that by choice. I believe we should deem them a terrorist state and deal with them accordingly, up to and including allowing Israel to wage war on them should they determine it to be in the interests of their national security.
Excepting as it benefits our military to wait, we should cut to the chase as regards Iran. Syria can't prop itself up without them and few if any regimes in the area would complain. This is not a religious war, it is a war against certain factions which view terrorism, or terrorist threats as an acceptable form of International dialog. It's not.
The people's and primary ideology we are up against does not believe in surrender, it views negotiation as weakness and only understands two things - victory or defeat. It is time to defeat this menace now and wipe it from the face of the earth.
Using strategic air strikes we should take whatever action is necessary to eradicate any potential Iranian nuclear threat and continue such efforts until their military is irrelevant. It should be contingent upon other Arab regimes in the area being willing to assist and administer an interim Iranian state until such time as a democratically elected government can take control.
As this is obviously the direction in which we are heading, anyway. Excepting in whatever context it significantly benefits us ... why wait?

pretty covenient that we now have forward bases in Afghanistan and Iraq, not to mention some of the Baltics....almost as if there was some sort of "roadmap"

I think Hamas will self destruct-you know-give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves. Let's wait and see. Their only focus can't be the destruction of Israel. They have to build an economy. The people will vote for whomever offers the best hope for a prosperous future after hamas fails-so let them give it a try-but definately spy like hell! Iran-assassination sounds good a little stroke like sharon and then bumble the recovery efforts.

HEAR!! HEAR!! Dan. I absolutely agree. Time to stop dragging ass and get the job done, and done right. God bless America.

Give them a chance my ass. We are talking about people that want to wipe out an entire country, Israel I could give a flying fu*ck if you believe in freedom, democracy or what ever. Giving people like this a chance is asking for trouble.
It was John Kerry who back in the presidential supported giving terrorist a chance, Iran to be specific. We do not have time to give them that chance. Not when you are talking nuclear weapons at the hands of a religious fanatic.

"Not when you are talking nuclear weapons at the hands of a religious fanatic."
Hahaha! I guess to you it depends on which religion huh? So sadly inconsistent and limited a view.

Most of the time, predicting the future is difficult, in a general sense. In specific instances it is sometimes possible to strongly suggest an outcome in an isolated view.
What makes me less than smiley faced is the stated view of some. That A) It's too late to do anything about Iran. Or B) Nothing can be done ..... successfully/strategically. So we should just accept.
One can't foresee all the myriad events unfolding from military action. But in the last months, since October 26th. I have come to believe that whatever the world decides ..... Israel will remain true to their word. A nuclear Iran will not come to pass. Including the use of whatever means are required to insure the completion of the task.

If you have any question about their agenda or how they plan to employ any diplomacy, go read their charter.

You don't have to worry about any of this folks, 'cause good old Mr Marxist 666 JAVIER SOLANO (remember the name, because you are going to hear a lot more of it in the future), will come and sort it all out, if he hasn't already!! Wise up, the real danger to the US and the rest of the world is the European Union. The (unelected) communist leaders of this organisation, led by Javier Solarno, have got their own agenda, and the Middle East is already sorted.

Yep, that's exactly what we need. Give yet another nation's people a reason to hate us to the point that they start killing our innocent women and children. Good thinking. I like the results so far in Iraq. After all the soldiers who have died in Iraq, you want us to get in another protracted crisis in Iran. Do you think all it would be is a strategic air strike and then we go on our merry way? I would think there would be some sort of a response, missile to Israel maybe, terrorist attacks on a US target overseas maybe, terrorist attacks on US soil maybe?
I am an American, but I realize how condescending it is for the US with their hordes of nuclear weapons to tell another country with the ability to acquire nuclear weapons that it cannot, because we cannot trust that it will use those weapons for justice. None of the Arab world believes the US can be trusted in its use of weaponry, case in point Iraq, the missiles that strike civilian targets (albeit in areas where terrorists purposely hide with human shields). All I'm saying Dan is that moving onto the next middle east target is probably not a wise idea right now.

I am not at all happy with the election of this new government for the Palestinian people either.
However, I experienced a few surprises when I looked up the history (go back to 1918) of the Palestian/Israeli conflicts.
Both sides do have very, very dirty hands. The conflict over there will probably NEVER end unless the Palestinians have their own state. The land/country given to the Israeli people came from the Palestinians.
Land was divided amongst the two groups of people by the BRITISH government. I am not quite sure how this went down - but it looks like the British government took it upon themselves to take land away from others, and give it to the Israeli people. Now, we all know (and recognize) that the Israeli people desperately needed someplace to go where they would not be exterminated by people (such as the Germans). However, there does exist ways of doing things that will infuriate others.
The Israeli's had about 1/2 the territory in question, with the Palestinians having the other 1/2.
The Israeli's did immediately go on a "land grab" by using force, and has been trying to remove the Palestinian people from land that actually belonged to them in the first place ever since.
As much as I despise the terrorist type government they elected, if I had been raised over there (as a Palestinian) I may feel the same way they do.
1918 isn't that long ago - we are talking about people who fought in ww1....most are dead - but NOT ALL.
Had this happened about 500 years ago - I would have zero mercy on the people, and attitudes, of the Palestinian people. At this point in time - I do not know what to think. I will have to do some more research, and more thinking about the situation first.
Does anyone out there have a very clear understanding of the entire situation?????

Annie:
Please inform us the history (even if only your personal thoughts) behind your phrase "'cause good old Mr Marxist 666 JAVIER SOLANO ".
I do not agree with statements made that the EU will be much of a problem to us. They are not exactly as strong as one would believe. They have a hard time just agreeing to use their own money. They have a long way to go before being a "threat".
However, I wouldn't recommend deliberately waking the other "sleeping giant" - China. A Japanese general called the USA the "sleeping Giant" when protesting his orders to bomb Pearl Harbor. He warned that the "sleeping giant" would awake....and the rest is history - we did awake, we got seriously pissed - and nuked them a few times.
If the middle east countries/warlords/factions/religions could ever learn to "get along" with each - one of two things would happen: they would either settle down and fix things over there to make that region of the world nice for their own people (including a little education for all) or they would go on a serious rampage - worse than we have been watching out of the different factions for the last 30 years.
As things stand - I do believe we are ALREADY in world war 3, but it hasn't been called such as yet.
Perhaps someone would care to correctly remind me how the quote from Albert Einstein that went something like this...."I don't know how WW3 will be fought. However, I do know how WW4 will be - it will be with sticks and stones."
I do NOT recommend never using military actions, nor do I suggest that nothing should have been done following 9-11.....as I myself do believe that the terrorism MUST be dealt with. What I do recommend is that each of us on this small planet we share seriously consider the possibility of self destruction (for the human race) if we do insist on global conflict involving the war toys that has been amassed in the last 100 years.
Imagine this: all put down weapons for 5 years. All nations put their defense budgets towards moving anyone off planet who just can't stand living with the rest of us. At the end of the 5 years - anyone remaining is given choice of moving off world, getting along with others....or be "helped" out in obtaining a different attitude......
Just a dream.....

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?
Now let me see -
1st we drop 2 nukes on the US - that is for Japan right !
Then we napalm the rockies - that is for Vietnam !
Then we buy the rest for a few beads - that's for the Indians !
Oh I could go on but I do not think there would be much left of 'The Union' ? oops forgot about that - better add civil war to the list.
If you are an American I would suggest 1st - repentance for your crimes and don't try and fool us with your 'born again' thing - the rest is up to God.
