I can't figure out if this tune is Love Me Do to the left, or I'm a Loser. Actually, it's probably a little bit of both. Let it Be, John ... when you find yourself in times of trouble, just Let it Be.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John Kerry will attempt a filibuster to block the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.
"Judge Alito's confirmation would be an ideological coup on the Supreme Court," Kerry said in a written statement explaining his support for a filibuster.
"We can't afford to see the court's swing vote, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, replaced with a far-right ideologue like Samuel Alito."

A Roman Catholic cannot be Catholic and Pro Choice Both !

they think they are controlling power in Massachusetts....they are killing the state....people are moving because they can't afford real estate prices with college debt, can't buy health insurance, can't afford the cigarette prices, can't afford the car insurance, can't wake up at 4:30 to beat the rush hour bottlenecks, etc, etc, etc....young couples can't make it in MA unless they're gay
but they have contemplated a property tax reduction for senior citizens so they could afford to hang on to the house....everyone else is leaving
many have set up out of state companies (cheaper) which bid lower get hired by the state for contract work-very funny

He only proclaimed a filibuster AFTER Harry Reid said he would not attempt one. So as usual he is letting out a lot of hot air trying to impress the left and get on the "good" side of the Kos Kids. What a sad joke!

He's up to something clearly. He knows there arent enough votes to filibuster the debate--so look for his underlying purpose. I have a couple of theories. He's trying to get a lock on the far left vote for 2008, hoping that the moderate left will be splite between two other hopefuls. If he can garner the Dem nomination that way, then he can swing back toward center during his campaign. Just a thought--I cant think of why else he would do it unless he is THAT out of touch, and I dont believe he is.

Assuming all 55 Republican senators vote for cloture, breaking a filibuster still requires the votes of five Democrats, and there are 5 who say they will not support a filibuster- Feinstein, Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, Salazar, and Tim Johnson. sKerry KNEW he didn't have a chance, but he is as always desperate for any attention he can get.
Just a sad "(Fili)Blusterer" attempt by sKerry!

What was it he said at the convention??? Oh yes,-- "John Kerry-- reporting for duty." Christmas in Cambodia-- seared, seared into his brain--yeah, right! Filibuster?? Bring it on!!! Fool!

At this point the approach of Senator Kerry only appeals to the far left. I agree with COLOMBO. He's trying to motivate his base, and pick up donations for the November elections.
Problem is, the Dems continue to press issues that are getting no traction: protest Alito, protest the President's policy of eavesdropping on terrorists, try to hang Abramoff around the President's neck, etc. The MSM joins in, but the American public isn't buying it.
Regarding Alito, the undecided voter remembers that Clinton got Breyer and Ginsberg, so why can't Bush have Roberts and Alito?
Regarding eavesdropping, the legality issue is just too complicated, and the undecided voter gives the President the benefit of the doubt.
Regarding Abramoff, the undecided voter is skeptical of both parties, so the accusations of one party against another will never gain traction.
I guess the they don't realize it, but the harder the Dems press these issues, the more they come across as disingenuous and mean-spirited.
