Hillary Clinton: What's So Shocking?

Drudge is touting a new CNN Gallup poll as shocking and stunning because of the apparent lack of support for a Hillary Clinton Presidency. Okay, now ask yourself, this is stunning and shocking as compared to what, exactly?

Was there another recent legitimate poll done showing her as a shoe in I missed? Has there been anything other than some MSM talking heads who perhaps love to coo over Hillary's political potential telling us anything contrary to this poll? If so, I'm unaware of it. What a wonderful example of talking heads listening to themselves and presuming that a broader America is actually buying it.

From the looks of it, not only are people not buying what a part of the MSM is selling, they aren't buying Hillary Clinton these days, either. Pardon me if I don't fall over in shock.

Most voters now say there's no way they'd vote for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton if she runs for president in 2008 - while just 16 percent are firmly in her camp, a stunning new poll shows.

CNN GALLUP found that 51 percent say they definitely won't vote for Clinton (D-N.Y.) in 2008, another 32 percent might consider it, and only 16 percent vow to back her. That means committed anti-Hillary voters outnumber pro-Hillary voters by 3-1. The poll suggests she can forget about crossover votes - 90 percent of Republicans and 75 percent of conservatives say there's no way they'd back her.

Meanwhile, 46% said they would oppose Secretary of State Rice if she ran for President - a step Rice has repeatedly said she won't take.

Frankly, I"m surprised it's as high as 16%. Did you see any number or percentages of democrats only? I wonder what percentage of dems actually support her; probably higher than 16%, but still low I'm guessing. I cant stand her personally, but even if I were a liberal I would have a hard time backing her because she wont take a stand on ANYTHING--guess it's a Clinton thing.

Hillary's problem is that she is a fake.

It is blatantly clear that several years ago she came to the conclusion that the only way for her to win was to get over being an angry liberal and paint herself as mainstream.

Moderating her views on abortion. Becoming a supporter of the troops and the war on terror. Being a fiscal conservative....

No one has bought it. The problem is that the angry liberal base that she moved away from is now pissed at her for being moderate....thus, Hillary has lost her base as well as not picked up any moderate votes. Poor miscalculation.

I believe Hillary knows this....and now you are seeing her attempt to win back her base - war in Iraq mismanaged, congress run like a plantation comments, Republicans are corrupt (...ummm filegate, tradergate, Chinagate, Monicagate, etc.) yada, yada, yada. Too little too late Hil. You and Geena Davis can pack your bags and look for something new to do.

Any self respecting woman would have left 'ol Billy Boy many a years ago for his past and ongoing antics of philandering. Hillary won't - because Bill is her only chance. Sad....md

Sometimes I wonder if she practices on a lie-detector. I doubt it, because her stiff, "I'm not going to blink," look shows it all. Hillary is much more suited for this situation.
