: ) And I agree with her here. James Carville is a huckster and a clown who rode Bill Clinton's coat tails to a mostly undeserved reputation. Begala is simply a mouthy little shrew more deserving of a back hand and being told to shut up, than being brought out on one of Sunday's bigger news shows time and time, again. And all Matalin ever accomplished was a friendship with Limbaugh and a lost election.
Also I differ from some who feel that Matalin's and Carville's marriage is irrelevant. Given Carville's shtick and his friends, there's simply no way you can be seriously committed to a series of beliefs about the future of the country on many very important issues and then hop in the sack with a snake who would subvert your efforts at every turn. I never bought their act, and Russert only does because he is now part and parcel of the liberal media elite.
Click through the link at Betsy's for a regular round up of the Sunday news shows and you won't have to watch them. I stopped watching them a long time ago.

Huh?
If not for Carville Bill Clinton would have been just another philandering southern governor. He quarterbacked both Bill Clinton's presidential election victories from overall strategy, to day to day message. He virtually called all the shots, did you not see the movie War Room? How he could manage to get a U.S. Flag burning, serial philandering, pot smoking, corrupt southern politician who started out 30 points behind in the polls elected President of the United States, let me say that again, President of the United States is nothing short of miraculous. He also ran Hillary's senate campaign which at the outset was considered a long shot. As for Mary Matalin she was most recently Dick Cheney's political advisor in the run up to the successful 04 campaign. Did you watch the 04 vice-presidential debate, I think any unbiased observer would have to conclude Cheney pretty well torched Edwards in that debate. My favorite line was, "frankly senator the people in your own state have taken to calling you Senator Gone" when Cheney was referring to Edwards poor senate attendance record. Regarding Begala I will agree with you, although almost any democrat these days trying to defend their ideas, and direction sounds whiney.

Screw James Carville...and the horse he rode in on!

Huh?
Let's let the people decide, assuming Carville turns his "genius" to Hillary in 08. If you want to discount Clinton's incredible ability to connect with people - and his political instincts - go for it. But without Clinton, Carville wouldn't have won anything IMO. And the notion that Hiollary was a long shot in NY only means you don't know NY. You really think they would pass up a chance for the most well-known Senator on the block? Between that and the Dem machine behind her, she couldn't really lose if she didn't malfunction. NY is a Dem state. Even the Republicans are mostly Dems.

==========================
I don't think Cheney torched Edwards in the debates. I think Cheney came across as a pompous jerk. He made comments to Edwards about never seeing him when he went for his weekly lunch meetings with some of Senate staff - you know why? Cheney only did luncheons with REPUBLICAN senators, but tried to make it sound like Edwards was a nobody. Edwards as a Democrat was not invited to Cheney's luncheons so, of course, he was never there. I was very impressed with Edwards and so were a lot of other people. And he was NICE and displayed proper courtesies. Cheney did not impress me as someone I would ever want to know.
