Channel 5 in Boston is reporting that Neil Entwistle, currently seemingly in hiding outside the US, but being sought as a person of interest in the murder of his wife and daughter, appears to have been involved in some shady business dealings, some within the Internet porn industry.
They describe some of his efforts as a pyramid scheme and point out several complaints against his dealings through Ebay. It's unclear if Neil Entwistle will emerge as a suspect in this crime, or if some of his dealings may have caused another party to seek retribution on the family.
BOSTON -- Authorities still don't know who shot and killed a mother and her baby inside their Hopkinton home last weekend, but they have talked with the victim's husband, who is out of the country.
NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that Neil Entwistle, 27, was reportedly involved in the Internet pornography industry.
Entwistle, who police said is not called a suspect in the double murder, was answering some troubling questions about his business dealings. The British citizen reportedly had a Web site in England that offers clients a pornographic Web site set up which promises to make $6,000 a month profit. But it appears to be a type of pyramid scheme.
He and his wife both sold services on eBay under several company names. Numerous complaints, at least 16, have been lodged against them. One of their companies offers people $20,000 to work on the Internet, apparently selling advertising.

His wife and baby daughter are dead and he has nothing to say about that, huh? what? If he didn't do it, he certainly knows at least WHY someone else would.

I think neil was threatened ... due to all his illegal activities.... so he found it convenient to go on "job interviews" which is probably why they left the uk as well ...he didnt think they would be found in the us ... but since he probably received a threat he took off .. and left mom and child to suffer his consequences...he probably had MORE than just the internet scams going on ... and i dont think rachel had anything to do with all that .... i think he started using her name just because he couldnt use his own anymore ... jmo

I don't know if the husband did it, the murders sound way to clean, 1 shot in the head? Sounds like professionals did it...
Posted by: Caro | Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 02:51 PM
One shot in the head to the mother, another shot to the abdomen of the baby is what I read. How cold blooded is that?

Who?

I reckon its like this
The baby wasnt his - So Neil either hired a hitman or finished them off himself.

Just curious why you would "reckon" the baby was not his?

look put two and two together here - the guy has been notified his wife and baby were killed - and he is not on his way back to the states nor is there any plans to per the police investigating who have spoken with him - so you tell me what father and husband upon hearing his wife and baby were shot would not be running back home to find out what was going on and to lay his family to rest? maybe I am nuts bit trust me if anyone even told me my child or spouse had been injured I would be on the next plane home asap - they were shot dead and he has still made no appearances.
Posted by: truthbetold | Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 01:52 AM
This is too easy.....he did it.

I had the exact same thoughts yesterday! What normal loving father/husband would not be back with the wife and baby asap?
Posted by: cathy | Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 07:20 AM
Probably meant to do himself in as well, but chickened out, but you can bet he did it.
Posted by: annie | Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 03:14 PM
Oh no....men or women like that do not kill themselves. This reeks of Christian Longo and Scott Peterson. Both of whom will be put to death. Mr. Ent will, if ever brought to justice, will escape that. No death penalty in Mass. Sorry, this all makes me very sick. One look at the "diary"...."the happy family" will make you wonder about our beautiful world.
Posted by: melanie | Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 06:08 PM
Certain men will kill their wife and kids for a variety of reasons and it is not always malice. Just like some women kill themselves and their kids, because they are so worried that something horrible may happen to the children, they reason it is better for them all to die. Is not logic to most people, but they are out of their depths with life and don't think rationally. This guy could have been in out of his depths, as it sounds like he had great financial worries, and perhaps he thought he would lose his wife if he could not provide for her and could not bear to live without her, so intended to kill all of them. Would not be rational, except to him.
Posted by: annie | Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 08:45 PM
Im afraid it is much more sinister than what you describe. Time will tell all.....
Posted by: melanie | Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 09:19 PM
Melanie You could be right. He may just be a selfish psychopath, but in that case I would think there would be another woman or insurance or some motive that is going to benefit him. If so, he should be put in prison for the rest of his life.
Posted by: annie | Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 09:25 PM
I'm sure, if there was any evidence linking the guy to those deaths, the British authorities would have been more than happy to put him under arrest, at the request of the American authorities.
They wouldn't want to let a killer walk free over here (and yes, I am British, in Britain, and this is a horrific piece of news for all of us).
Lots of theories and little of the 'innocent until proven guilty' on this forum. I thought the US was a bit smarter than that?
Perhaps he left her... she shot her kid and herself? That would explain why he's in England - he left the marriage and came 'home'. And, that would explain why he hasn't been arrested.
If he's guilty, there will be evidence. And IF he is guilty, I hope he rots in jail. But why not look at the possible wider picture before you make judgement?
Cheers,
Les

Les, I understand your point but we Brits tend to paint all Yanks with a single stroke...not fair either...the fact that the man does not want to return to see about the death of his baby and his wife can not be ignored. Even if he left her...and she committed suicide why in heavens name not rush back and get things sorted?! It does not look good at all...not at all.
Posted by: Kate | Friday, January 27, 2006 at 10:53 PM
Homicide detectives and the coroner have definitely determined that she DID NOT kill herself and her beloved baby! So....who do you really think did it? I say him or murder for hire. I also say premeditated as he purchased his ticket on Wednesday to fly to England. What I wouldnt give to see his face when told of the death of his wife and child. One interesting thing....the bullets passed through the blankets; at least the one bullet that was shared by mother and child. Was that done to muffle the sound? or I just cant look or hired hit? That was leaked today. And Les, British authorities could not arrest him. What evidence do they have to arrest him? I just hope he gets his butt back to America. Those Boston cops will have the entire story asap...if they already dont.

A great tragedy, given that all Rachel Entwhistle's colleagues at the school she taught at here in the UK thought extremely highly of her. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4654448.stm
Not only that, but at least her and her baby, the two who were murdered in this cowardly attack, seem to have been committed Christians, as their website suggests:
http://www.rachelandneil.org/4597.html
How tragic and disgusting that this mother and baby seem to have fallen victim to Mr Entwhistle's involvement in the immoral and exploitative sex industry (not to mention Un-Christian), and other corrupt and unsavoury dealings.
And it seems that he took flight when they were killed for his misdeeds, an act of extreme cowardice and betrayal. What kind of a man gets involved in such things when he has a wife and child to love, nurture, and protect.
Posted by: Graham | Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 09:20 AM
Did somebody mention that Rachel may have shot herself and the baby? Well, if that is the case, where is the gun?
Posted by: annie | Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 04:03 PM
If the police in Britain (or the States) wanted him in custody they could do it easily.
Think of all the guys in gitmo or Poland who are uncharged for years. The police just say this is a terrorist case - due to his previous work.

wait a minute, many people have legitimate internet businesses, just because you choose to label some of them scams doesnt mean everybody does. in america bookies get bad press and are seen as leeching from the public but in the UK they are legitimate respectable high street businesses, hey and if you want to see real corruption and underhand dealings just look at the workings of some of the so called respectable companies, or indeed your own president whos lies have been responsible for the deaths of many children in far worse ways. As for entwistle I dont know whether he is innocent or guilty of the murders but one thing is for sure and that is that man and his wife had a beautiful dream and a lovely kid to go with it and if you think he will be celebrating right now you must be nuts, even if he is the murderer he must regret what happened with all of his heart.
Yet each man kills the thing he loves from all let this be heard some does it with a bitter look some with a flattering word the coward does it with a kiss the brave man with the sword.

this is what obviously happenned. Mr. Entwistle, charmed and flimflamed his way into Rachels heart so he could marry her, move to the U.S., and continue his fraud scheme. He never really loved her, and eventually when things got too hot, and he wanted out of the relationship as well. He planed the murders, even sending threatening emails to the website using his wife's name as the person being threatened. This was to make it look like a hit, in an attempt to take himself off the hook. After the murders, he fled to England, claiming to his family and friends and police that he had to leave the U.S. because of the threats against him and his family. He pleaed with Rachel to leave but she refused to go. Quite an elaborate scheme but very plausible.

I would say that not returning and attending your wife and daughter's wake and funeral is a big, red flag that he did it.
Posted by: thoughtful | Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 07:35 PM
Hi People.
I have heard on the news that Neil Entwistle may be on his way to the USA, Boston for the funeral of his late wife and daughter Lillian. His parents have left the house in the UK earlier on this afternoon (UK time) and it has been reported that he may be on his way ready for the funeral tomorrow.
Posted by: Tony | Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 07:59 PM
What I want to know is who's address was on the paper found in the SUV parked at Logan Airport in Boston...the SUV that supposedly belonged to Neil Entwistle...what involvement, if any, did those people have in all this???? Neil either knew of the threat before hand and took off, or he called in the hit from the UK. thats what I think! Hes guilty no matter how you look at it, even if he didnt pull the trigger himself. He should have at least come back for the funerals...hes just afraid he'll have to face the music here...as well he should.
Posted by: newgrandma | Wednesday, February 01, 2006 at 01:29 PM
My opinion on the matter is that there is more to be discovered.
I would agree with some of the other suggestions about the internet scam Niell had going on, i believe in the world of the internet you don't really know who your working with or for. For his and his family's sake i just hope he can produce something either about his doings or the killers.
Theres more bones in the closet with this situation.
Posted by: Bear | Wednesday, February 01, 2006 at 02:52 PM
Why did he leave his Mother-in-laws house and move into a house he just could not afford knowing he was unemployed. I am a UK resident myself and people please trust me that he should or will be done for deception (that is one crime he has committed by deceiving so many people) And if he is proved guilty of the murders then that will complete the crimes that have been mentioned in the press and Television world wide. What other crimes do we not know about that he may of committed along the way. He was a very clever intellegent man (He thought he was). Why oh Why take a little defenseless childs life who did not ask to come in to the world. Something is not right with this case there are a lot of answers needed and the US and UK police are both working it all out in their Investigations. He will hang himself soon or put a gun to his head (Easy way out)
Posted by: Tony | Wednesday, February 01, 2006 at 03:56 PM
newgrandma....the name and address left on the seat in the car left at Logan airport were friends of both Rachel and Neil. They were directions to their home; not too far away from the newly rented murder scene. Apparently, Rachel knew her in England...had something to do with teaching there. I read in one of the Boston papers they both thought alot of Rachel. Click on Drudge, then onto the Boston papers...I think the Globe, Herald or one of the others. They really have a day by day account of the latest.
EVERYONE...say a kind word tonight for the parents of lovely Rachel and her beautiful baby. It will be a hard night for them since the funeral was today. You can only imagine.....
Posted by: melanie | Thursday, February 02, 2006 at 02:25 AM
...go to www.bostonherald.com for the latest info. Hey, its an intown paper and they would know what the "talk" is. Joe from the Herald was on O'Reilly tonight. Autopsy results are sealed by the DA. The only info given was that the baby died within minutes but would not give the date of death to the public. Also noted was that there was NOT a stolen or lost gun report made by Rachels stepfather re: his guns. They may be also holding some info regarding a "stolen" firearm too.
Posted by: melanie | Thursday, February 02, 2006 at 04:46 AM
If it was on O'Reilly it must be true.
Posted by: CoolHandLuke | Thursday, February 02, 2006 at 08:41 AM
coolluke...be cool now and read the blog...I said Joe from the Herald WAS ON O'Reilly. Gee....are you a koolaid drinker? If you wish to go there, you need to move on. I think the subject here are the murders of Rachel and Lillian. Read it for yourself at www.bostonherald.com.
ps. Autopsy results for Rachel will be released tomorrow. Also a report about their dog, Sally who was found in the house with Rachel and Lillian.

gee les....she shot herself and the baby...then covered themselves up with some blankets and got rid of the gun...sounds logical

Rachel Souza (as I will always remember her...) was a beautiful person and an amazing friend...although I was not fortunate enough to see what an outstanding young woman and phenomenal mother she had become (having grown apart in our high school years...) I can assure all those that are questioning the who's? and why's? of this horrific and tragic crime, that Rachel was guilty of nothing more than perhaps blindly becoming involved with the wrong man...although the lives of Rachel and her beautiful baby daughter have been unnecessarily and tragically taken from this world, hopefully we can all feel some relief in knowing that the two people who loved each other the most in this world are still together...still loving one another...and most importantly...are safe...Rather than consuming ourselves with the who dun it's?...which in time we know will be revealed...PLEASE lets not lose sight of remembering and honoring the beautiful, intelligent, and amazing woman she was...as well as her equally beautiful baby girl, who's life we know would have mirrored her mothers...

The baby was the most innocent in this whole case, I know we dont know about Mrs. Ent. but i definately know that the baby didnt have ANYTHING to do with nothing. My heart goes out to her family and friends, this is such an unbelievable tradgedy...with MUCH sympathy from the bottom of my heart.

Did anyone out there fall foul of these internet scams?

Sure, if Joe from the Herald was on O'Reilly he must be correct.
What is Koolaid anyway?
Posted by: CoolHandLuke | Friday, February 10, 2006 at 02:10 AM
lexus,
do you think mr. ent had anything to do with the recent online scams going down? seems like they are all coming down round about the end of jan and 1st week of feb....
Posted by: Ali | Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 12:21 PM
I thought that people were innocent until proven guilty in the olden days. Obviously that is old-fashioned. Today if they can prove that you committed any sin then you deserve to die. The Spanish Inquisition is truly back with us and it is the same people doing it. Look at all the people imprisoned as 'terror suspects' when we know that 9/11 was an inside job.
