I was surprised to hear Colonel David Hunt state his belief that Iran already has the bomb and intelligence sources know it. He made it tonight on Fox News. He suggested they purchased needed plans from A. Q. Khan. There is a record of connections there going back almost twenty years.
Evidence uncovered by inspectors showed that Pakistan and Iran agreed around 1987 to a deal ... In early March 2005, Pakistan acknowledged A. Q. Khan had provided centrifuges to Iran, though it denied having had any knowledge of the transactions.
Now revisit this statement from Jacques Chirac yesterday, one which I found more than a little surprising.
French President Jacques Chirac said Thursday that France could respond with nuclear weapons against any state-sponsored terrorist attack.
Coincidence, perhaps, and forgetting that if Bush had made such a statement the world would be going crazy in protest, but what would compel Chirac to even mention a nuclear option at this seemingly early stage? It seems odd.
The Fox anchor mentioned early reports suggesting Iran is already redeploying its long range missiles. It's also been reported that Israel is already making practice runs for a strike.
By all accounts, Iran is richer and more directly in the network mix as regards acquiring a nuclear weapon than say North Korea, who we know has already succeeded. Could Saddam Hussein have been so focused on acquiring the technology because of something he knew or suspected as regards his main rival, Iran? It's at least plausible.
Now this today out of Syria, currently being visited by President Ahmadinejad of Iran.
President Ahmadinejad said Friday Palestine is the center of the final stages of the battle between Islam and arrogance, saying the Palestinian Intifada is progressing.
I don't think I'm alarmist, nor am I big on conspiracy theories. But I'm not sure I can absolutely conclude the current confrontation with Iran isn't just a bit more advanced and dangerous than what we are currently being told.

Oh, but they're not 'enriching' the uranium, right?

Whether Iran has "the bomb" or not (not, in my opinion) according to an article written by Mark Gaffney (http://www.rense.com/general59/theSunburniranisawesome.htm), they have an ass kicking missile that can really cause some big time pain.
Good reading, really. A little scary, though.

They are a threat to national security. You should send a team of weapons inspectors in to check it out. If that doesn't work, you should invade them and overthrow their government. I think most of the country would be in favour of US occupation anyway.
George: "Dick, do you think thats a good idea?"
Dick : "Yeah, why not?"

Enter George and Dick standing at a diner near a pepsi truck ....

You're so right - if the US made such a statement (French President Jacques Chirac said Thursday that France could respond with nuclear weapons against any state-sponsored terrorist attack) we would never hear the end of it.

Listen amigo, the 'Cuban missile crisis' was OVER before ANYBODY knew the extent to which it really went.
Oh sure, there were updates and plenty of press over those 3 days, but NOTHING intimated just how close we came to WWIII.
In your case Dan, listen for jets taking off with afterburners in rapid succession. I heard them from Newark when the Embassy was taken in Iran. The Air National Guard gets out of Dodge real quick and deploys elsewhere. You cannot mistake that sound and the number of takeoffs is a dead give-away.

You better believe "they" already have the bomb! Where is "the Alamo" to back me up?

Hmmm...fallout shelters and $100 per barrel oil. I'm going to have to brush up by pulling out my Charleton Heston movie collection.

In the 70's they sent their kids here to be educated in the top, top engineering schools. The kids got their education and then went home. Now you are seeing the results.

Everybody needs to calm down and talk reasonable. It is in no ones interest to start lobbing nukes at each other. What is President Ahmadinejads' problem. The PEOPLE WANT democracy! He has to get it through his thick head. You can have Democracy and still be a muslim. Palestinians don't exclusively own that stupid piece of desert land. Other religions were born there and it must be shared.

Chirac rattles his saber, huh. That's rich. Does he really think ANYONE takes him seriously? (Outside of the American liberal elite, that is.)

Well, I've stood alone before......
Does anyone think the Israelis are just going to sit back? They don't need anyone's permission to stay alive.
I figure we (Bush, et.al.) and Israel have been sitting back letting this guy make enough threats to enrage the world... and then, whatever Israel does, c'est la vie. Perfect strategy.

Interesting comments from the new German Chancellor too today:
Separately, Merkel, speaking at a news conference with President Jacques Chirac, defended the French leader’s threat last week that France might use its nuclear weapons against state-sponsored terrorism or to thwart an attack involving weapons of mass destruction — comments that drew criticism from elsewhere in Europe and from Iran.
“We know that France is a country with nuclear capabilities, capabilities that exist exclusively for deterrence and, for me, there are no grounds there for criticism,” she said.

I doubt very much any known nuclear power is going to a first use position against a non-nuclear nation.
I think there is a good case that Iran is attempting to lure Israel into attacking Iran in order to solidify Muslims and kick start the Holy War.

"....and kick start the Holy War." You forgot to put a Roman numeral after 'Holy War'. But, maybe this is the purging we need. Where do you think most of the missiles are going to be aimed if a 'Holy War' is begun?

You simple-minded, self-righteous motherfuckers can go and fuck yourselves.
It takes one hell of fucking bastards to think they can dictate to a sovereign nation what they can
or can not have. You pathetic Americans have lost every single war you started, and there have
been many, in the past 50 years. Your humiliation has no limit. The entire planet hates your guts
and knows of you humiliation. Iranians are proud and are respected for standing up to you
bastards of this planet. On behalf of the entire population of this planet, except 59 million
redneck mothrfuckers, I relay this message: FUCK YOU
