So it would seem, though far from overwhelmingly so.
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada took a tentative step to the right in Monday's federal election, ousting the Liberals after 12 years in power and voting in a fragile minority Conservative government, television networks said.
Preliminary official figures at 11 p.m. (0400 GMT Tuesday) showed the Conservatives winning or ahead in 122 electoral districts compared to 103 for the Liberals of Prime Minister Paul Martin.

Sad to see the liberals go. Emotional speech by Paul Martin. Some tense moments before that, rumours began circulating that the Liberals were going to form a coalition with the NDP. That didn't happen. Breathing a sigh of relief, Canada's 22nd prime minister Stephen Harper is set to give his victory speach any moment now....

What do you mean?

something important about our parliement system though is that the Conservatives are a MINORITY government, so they basically have to find friends in the Bloc Québecois (Quebec-only party, little more left than the Conservatives, founded to promote Quebec separation) or in the NDP (New Democratic Party, even more left; so this alliance is unlikely)
now, if you ask me... I think it's not a big change from yesterday :-s

ok. But I still don't understand what you are trying to say. What is "because of the oil sands".

Oh Canada! I don't know what to say. Does this mean we will follow Bush to war? The very thing so many have been outspoken negatively about? The contents of the letter written to Canadians by Michael Moore may be right after all. He's probably hitting his head against the wall right now.
