But not out, so far as we know. And perhaps we still don't know. But Michael Ledeen at NRO seems to feel otherwise.
... according to Iranians I trust, Osama bin Laden finally departed this world in mid-December. The al Qaeda leader died of kidney failure and was buried in Iran, where he had spent most of his time since the destruction of al Qaeda in Afghanistan. The Iranians who reported this note that this year's message in conjunction with the Muslim Haj came from his number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, for the first time.

Nice, if true. But will likely have no effect one way or the other. Curious, though, the way Leeden dropped the item in a general opinion piece as though it were common knowledge. Skepticism is warranted.

Not worth believing unless absolutely proved. I think these kind of people are cockroaches, even when you think you have killed them, there will still be a leg crawling along there by itself.

I would really doubt it. He has used look-a-likes in the past. His pictures in the last videos he put out, he didn't look to be failing in health. At least he didn't portray as one who was near death from kidney disease.

Bush loves bin laden?
Isn't it convenient that when Bush's approval ratings are floored that Bin Laden comes out of nowhere and says:
1. al-Qaeda forces haven't attacked since 9/11 because of the presidents oil war in Iraq
2. Bin laden wants a 'truce', as if we've been fighting against him the whole time
3. Agrees with the bloody liberal democrats that say withdraw the troops
It comes from a arab news credible source, as is required to be believable as opposed to the CIA.
Well, looks like I'm moving once the draft comes to steal Iran's Oil
I leave with this quote:
"Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception."

There cant be a hero without a villain, and there can't be a continued war on terror with your main terrorist disappearing.
If Bin Laden's goal is take people out of Iraq and weaken president Bush, he certainly would have NOT said this.
