"Neighbors said the boys were likeable and good natured, always ready to help out.

The first sign of changes in their personalities occured when George W Bush was re elected in 2004. Neighbors recall the boys disillusionment with the direction the country was taking.

"They said they were going to move to Canada and grow pot", said a neighbor who did not want to be identified. That plan changed after "they attended a rally that featured Ward Chuchill as the featured speaker" the neighbor went on to say. "Churchill inspired them to reclaim their country. In their exuberance, they just missed the target."

The boys parents were said to encourage their independent spirits. In a display of progressive parenting, they made it a point not to invade their childrens privacy. They had no idea the boys had explosives, weapons, assembled bombs and had downloaded from the internetinstructions on how to assemble IED's (Improvised Explosive Devices) like those used in Iraq against American soldiers.

Also found were extremely volatile chemical and biological agents stored in the boys homes. They were safely removed by a CDC team brought in from Atlanta, after an evacuation of 12 square blocks was completed

The parents vehemently denied those materials posed a threat to the community, stating the boys were 'just naturally curious kids'.

The parents refused comment when asked why the boys made a tape, much in the way of suicide bombers, declared their intent to bomb and release chemicals into the area. One family member did respond saying, 'C'mon, you don't really think they were serious, do you?' When the family member was informed that he was on the boys 'hit list', the interview ended."

What this means is that they had no parents. Quite typical of today's times.
"progressive parenting?" is.....letting your kid run the show, and you stay out of his/her way. Seems that the parents need "parenting" themselves.

Dan,
The average american high school is a horrendous place. Rare are the teachers who are there because of a "calling". Most are there because the union is the strongest in the country and the money is good and, once you receive tenure, you can't be fired, ever.
The smartest kids are touted, the kids with problems are spoon fed and the kids in the middle the average ones, are ignored and left to fend for themselves. Noone cares, noone cared about these kids and they knew it. the sense of alienation felt within high schools by many is overwhelming. Most kids survive and don't react, others have noone to turn to, no acticity to throw themseles into, noone who will notice that something is very, very wrong.
We have become a country where money is the thing that is "paramount" and people. people are expendable, totally. It is like this in our schools, in our universities and graduate schools and in our communities. Madison avenue has sold us a bill of goods and the corporations of america are setting the standards, not the churches and mosques and synagogues.
Noone noticed, from elementary school, that something was happening with these kids? Noone saw anything. You know why, cause everyone didn't give a damn. We have become a cuntry where we are so private that we do not interact with our neighbors anymore. Not the way my grandmother did. Noone wants to admit failure, ever, so we cover it up and tell everyone "we just decided not to do it" (whatever ti was). We ahve becvome a "me first", "cover your ass" society. We only "care about our fellow man" when someone else is watching or when it will help to get us something for ur agenda.
Dan, there are kids like these two boys in EVERY hgh scool in this country. When are we going to wake up. When are we going to realize that the generation that made this country great did not operated like this. When are we going to see that we are all responsible for these kids, all of us. When?

Seems that the parents need "parenting" themselves.

Society has nicely allowed parents to "take themselves off the hook". Years ago, my grand ma put her children before hersself and her husband. By doing that, much was given, but, much was required. Nowadays, the parents are just plain "selfish". They even put themselves first, their spouse second and maybe the kids are tied with their friends for third. They think there is nothing wrong with this. They think that it is totally "normal".
Wait and see, New Orleans will not rise again. Why? Because these parents are now running the show and that is just what it is a "show". As long as it looks good and it can be justified then it can be done. Moral compasses are a thing of the past. Colleges nowadays don't take the kid who has one. How sad is that?

I'm probably in the minority with this!

Maybe we need more hot teachers, like the ones in the news lately, to blast the testosterone right out of the boys.

Who has time to think of terrorism....and other hateful acts.....when a sweetie has love in mind?
