Are the only two options for the once great Russian bear to be plundered by the West, or ruled by gangsters? Of course people are quick to forget American economic history. How do you say Robber Baron in Russian?

I 'encountered' Mark Rich while I was exporting oil & gas from Russia in the early '90-ties when he was doing 3 to 4 ships a week !
Did some metal trading as well though that was very much in the Russian state controled hands, never heard MR mentioned, maybe not that big ?
