Are the only two options for the once great Russian bear to be plundered by the West, or ruled by gangsters? Of course people are quick to forget American economic history. How do you say Robber Baron in Russian?
via Pundita: By the way, your note caused me to recall the accidental death of another man who knew too much. Oh but wait -- Vince Foster's death was deemed a suicide. There are so many accidental deaths and suicides related to the plunder of Russia that it's hard to keep them sorted.
"Last week the New York Post's Rod Dreher reported that Rich made tens of millions of dollars helping Russia’s communist bosses loot their country, leaving it bankrupt."
Hahaha tens of millions ------> closer to billions !
I 'encountered' Mark Rich while I was exporting oil & gas from Russia in the early '90-ties when he was doing 3 to 4 ships a week !
Did some metal trading as well though that was very much in the Russian state controled hands, never heard MR mentioned, maybe not that big ?
From about 1995 the Olicharchs were getting so powerfull [after the 'coupons' were given to the people of Russia to buy stock with in Ru companies].
So robber baron = olicharch. [Baron разбойника]
