I know many Americans have questions about the cost and direction of this war. So tonight I want to talk to you about how far we have come in Iraq, and the path that lies ahead.
---
This election will not mean the end of violence. But it is the beginning of something new: constitutional democracy at the heart of the Middle East. And this vote - 6,000 miles away, in a vital region of the world - means that America has an ally of growing strength in the fight against terror.
---
Some look at the challenges in Iraq, and conclude that the war is lost, and not worth another dime or another day. I don't believe that. Our military commanders do not believe that. Our troops in the field, who bear the burden and make the sacrifice, do not believe that America has lost. And not even the terrorists believe it. We know from their own communications that they feel a tightening noose - and fear the rise of a democratic Iraq.
---
It is also important for every American to understand the consequences of pulling out of Iraq before our work is done. We would abandon our Iraqi friends - and signal to the world that America cannot be trusted to keep its word. ... We would hand Iraq over to enemies who have pledged to attack us - and the global terrorist movement would be emboldened and more dangerous than ever before.

Just as no one would consider abandoning a child and not providing it nurishment and care the same goes for a people who are starting the birth of a new nation. Imagine growing up knowing that your family, neighbors could be abducted and killed at any moment. Torture is the norm. You become numb because that is simply the way it is and you do as you are told.
Then imagine a war, bombs and the infidels you heard about are coming. Your home is bombed and your mosque and your school. But still they come and you find after a time they bring food, and medicine not for just the special ones who are favored but for everyone. You are free to sell what you can pull together and you begin earning some money. It is yours to keep. The children are given school supplies and they come home with special packages. There is candy!
You suspect in time it will end and wait for that time, it doesn't come yet. Your gaurd goes down and one day you summon the courage to learn "thank you" in English and when a soldier hands you a package of school supplies for your child you say "Thank you".
**My nephew said "you're welcome"**
The lopsided press has not even close to given balanced exposure of the war. The GOOD that is happening. But complaining and creating false stories where there isn't really any story to be told just to create news is something that has been done for centuries.
Hooah! Press on!

The press can influence a lot of ideas. They cannot, however, rewrite the truth, anymore that Almahdinejad can rewrite history.

Now Dan....don't you learn from the influence of others?
If you were *ahem* qualified enough to be in the PJM, you would have put this up in three days, and then bought a Drudge Ad.
