from this year's headlines by John Stossel - interesting read. And they say we bloggers are bad.
Looking back on 2005, I realize that much of what I heard -- and what the media said -- turned out to be myths. Newsweek reported that U.S. interrogators had flushed a Koran down a Guantanamo Bay toilet. After Hurricane Katrina, reporters said that sharks from Lake Pontchartrain were swimming through New Orleans, and roving bands of armed gang members were attacking the helpless. Myth after myth.

Bush (under his own initiative, not the official policy of the US gov since 1998) convinced Dems to blindly vote for a resolution to overthrow Saddam without looking at any intelligence. No Democrat ever believed that Saddam had WMD programs. John Kerry voted to give the president this authority never believing that he would ever use it.
The U.N. would have definitively resolved the issue with more time than the mere 12 yr/17 U.N. resolutions.
