Seems they went a bit out of their way to make the point that even at the height of the cable news coverage on the Natalee Holloway story, relatively few Americans were as tuned in as some might have thought.
We interrupt this tedious TV ratings report to bring you an important bulletin about SpongeBob SquarePants, whose search for his beloved pet snail -- missing-and-presumed-escargot on the mean streets of Bikini Bottom -- attracted a colossal 8 million mollusk lovers to Nickelodeon. That's nearly 6 million more than caught Greta Van Susteren's effort to find missing white chick Natalee Holloway in Aruba on Fox News Channel and more than 7 million more than watched Nancy Grace shed big crocodile tears for the missing Holloway on CNN Headline News in July.

Never cared for polls much. Makes you always wonder who the hell participated in the polls.
I do not know anyone that has ever been polled.
I sometimes suspect they just make it all up.
IMHO
:o)

??? and that would be a bad thing????
In reference to the article:
I would hardly call a TV critic's little barb in a column the "WAPO going out of their way" to comment on the NH case.

The Fox Greta & Nancy disGrace shows are not caring about the missing Nataliee, but on ratings. The mother Beth has not only become a rich one woman show, without the yet to come book deal, the selling of her book on all these shows, & then the producer of the TV Movie to come. What a sock it to you bank pay role. Talk about capitlizing on your child missing. No one else who's children are missing get this amount of good fortune. A southern white woman with blond hair & a blond haired missing daughter. Does Beth take any responisbility in all this?

Greta is supposed to have a 'special' on sometime this week or next with Beth, the Figaroa(sp) mother and Taylor Biehl's mom. How much have you heard about the last two? How much time do you think Greta is going to give to either of these women? Beth will get 30 minutes talk time if it is only an hour show.

Well, Mrs. Figaroa and Mrs. Biehl's daughters are no longer missing - their bodies were found.

Sure validates my own findings. Whenever I ask someone what they think about the Natalee Holloway case, I get the same reponse. "The Natalee who case?" They're clueless to what I'm talking about.

Yes except that for some network wisdom unbeknownst to us, us cable news viewers have had to endure this crap almost every night for five months! And what is worst, with nothing new at all to say!!!

Just for comparison, try asking if they have heard about Beth Twitty's case? lol

Beth Twitty and the twitty-birds: Greta, John Kasich and Nancy Disgrace are lost in a thought-lock....they are to be pitted almost as much as those of us who try to listen to news on Fox and have to listen instead to Beth Twitty and the twitty-birds.

amy bradley mother showed more grief after 7 years , then beth in 5 months, how odd

Yes, but how has Beth being on TV every night helped THE CASE?
Not the part about keeping the case in the media or keeping the donations coming in, but the part about finding Natalee.
