If you click on this link it will take you to MSN's Earth View. The road running verticaly on the left is Knights Wood Road.
The scene is in a remote area of Mathews County about three tenths of a mile off Knight's Wood Road. Sources close to the investigation tell me Taylor was found in a ravine along a dirt road. Her decomposed body found wrapped in a plastic bag with her remains scattered around.
You can magnify the view a bit more, as well as drag the image to move about. To the South is the river. It's at least possible that the images investigators are trying to identify come from that area. My concern is that with much better technology, the FBI has probably not been able to match a location with this approach. I doubt anyone else will, either.
The best bet, and I'm assuming they also tried this, would be to question sportsman, fisherman and sporting goods stores anywhere in that area.

I agree with you that questioning sportsmen, fishermen etc in the area would be a good idea.
It might also pay for Mathews LE to check out sites like the one below and contact people who have a sound knowledge of the James river area:

The vegetation on this photo is similar to the shots that were posted in the news report, but the water is not as still or murky, (although maybe other parts of the river are:

Mathews LE should also consider contacting River organisations etc. such as those listed on this page:

Could not agree more. I think passing these photos out to marinas and areas where bass tournaments are going on would be a great idea. Even people that due nature hikes.
Fishermen know their waters. I still say this is the James.

So lets assume these pictures were taken after Taylor's death. I don't see Ben waiting around to take photos as we know he was seen by the gas station attendant at 6 am that morning. Leads me to think he was heading back to richmond. Did he stop along the way and dump the camera and tripod or did he wait?? I think a big clue would be where her car was parked all this time. What I am wondering is did he take her car back to richmond and parked it out in a wooded area near the river and that may be the spot in the photos where he got rid of all the evidence.I am thinking along the lines of the places Ben would be familiar with.Just a guess at this point.

Major kudos Dan! This is one of the first times that the conglomerate of LE has actually come to the public for assistance or anything for that matter. Further, it seems to me that if the LE and subsequent prosecutorial team wants to charge Fawley, they should be doing a lot more of this.
I’d do just about anything to help out with this matter. I’ve even entertained the notion of going to Mathews, obtaining the proper permits, various permissions, and with my trusty detectors, just about camp out. Notice I didn’t say…”weather permitting.”
DIANE, you bring a marvelous point to this board! What did the LE find here? Why is the photo significant? Sure there are interesting images, however, I don't believe the'd let this one leak if they didn't want some help.
The license plate switch has always been a big clue for me. I don't think anyone in Richmond who knew Taylor or Fawley would even notice if he was driving her car. Seems to me that Fawley made more than one trip out there.

Anyone who canoes or kayaks might recognize the area

There is very clearly a pond with a stream running through it east and slightly south of the large structure that I assume is the hay barn.

That link doesn't take you to a section of VA anywhere near Mathews County or the area where Taylor was found. That is more south western VA near Danville...unless the link changed I'm thinking it's a different Knight's Wood Road.

An article at CrimeLibrary has an " unnamed wittness " making some suggestions as to the possible location.

John: Some sleuths we all are! It says Charlotte (county) in BIG RED letters and it's west of I-95. See, way too much conjecture going on!

The swirls in the pond or river look like pollen trails, I have lived on a lake for years, and this usually happens twice a year, once in the spring and again at the end of summer.
