I am so glad you picked up this story. I was so shocked that doctors would hold out for money what they could have done pro bono...have a heart doctors, if ever a little child needed you it is this suffering child.

oh my gosh why would they not do this for free? what kind of hospital is this??? beth twitty listen up and fork over all the money you have been living on through that fund

Dear Lord, how does that child eat or speak? I have never seen anything like that before. Bless her heart. I do hope they find enough money to help her. Someone should get word to that family that in Texas there is the Shriner's Hospital in Houston. They will operate on her regardless of the ability to pay. Houston has some of the best surgeons in the world.

Amazing how far medicine has come from healing to a business. If the doctors and the hospital had any class at all, they would fix this girl at no charge.

Talk about criminal?

It is sickening that this poor child has not already had the work done for FREE. I am very dubious about this hospital...why would they wait?

Maybe Joe Mammana should step up to the plate and donate to her.

That family should contact the Shriners immediately. That was a great idea.

I don't get the hospital not donating their services either. Hope this story gets out to enough people to make a difference.

Thanks Dan.

Thanks Dan. I had not heard about this.

Hasn't this child suffered enough? I really don't understand why the doctors have to wait for payment before they do surgery on this child- there's no sense in a child like this suffering because of others greed- I hope & pray that this child will soon have her operation that she so badly needs & then maybe she can live a normal life. God Bless her!!

TLC ran a program on a little Indonesian boy who had the very same thing. He had the tumor removed and although he was going to have to have many more surgeries, the initial one was quite successful. He was taken to I believe Taiwan where the hospital and doctors treated the child at no charge and would be doing surgeries until such time as no more were needed, again at no charge. Unfortunately he died 5 months after his surgery of respiratory complications.

In a poor country it's possible (Indonesia) but not in the US? *sigh*. No comment.

You are a disgusting Lunatic !! Now go crawl back in your hole. You should be ashamed!

People "will give" but they damn sure do not need your ignorant ramp to do so. Jerk !

Marlie is an angel. I cannot understand why she is not getting surgery. it is always about money ! Shame ! Shame ! Shame ! Nancy Grace, Greta, Geraldo .. HELPPP Anybody interested to raise money for this child ?? C. Cox, M Jackson, Joe M, anybody sitting on a pile of money ..

Why doesn't this child have health insurance? America is a very rich country. I'm sending a donation immediately.

Only rich people have health insurance in this country. About $500 a month to get HMO/PPO for a family .. sad isn't ?

Anarinda what do you mean not in the US. The US gives more money than any other country on this planet. Everytime something happens they ask the US to help. Maybe this little girl cant get surgery because the hospitals are giving out all their free services to illegals and welfare leaches. Have you been to a hospital lately. People are sitting in the ER with a cold. They are so needy for government they cant deal with a broken fingernail. I dont know the reason the little girl cant get the surgery. It is probably because her parents dont qualify for free services so therefore they must pay. I am sure this family is happy they are in the US where they will get good care even if they have to wait to have surgery. BTW I am sure people will come to her defense and donate enough money for her to get this surgery. Please stop bashing America for everything. Did you not see how much our country gave for Hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami that happened in another country.

After reading Dan's post, I clicked on the International Kids Fund to make a domation but got that "this page is not available" report. I'll try to go to the site by typing it in my browser and see what's up.

This hospital (Holtz Children's Hospital) receives public funding. By law it is not allowed to administer treatment to non-residents using taxpayers' monies. That is why they need donations for any type of treatment given to a child from another country.

Based on a percentage of average income and the GOP the US gives very litte, but don't let that stop you from being patriotic and proud.

Write to them. The child is in terrible pain and is going to die if she doesn't have the operation soon. Maybe they should try helping the living, instead of searching for the dead.

That she's from Haiti shouldn't make any difference. There are hospitals all over the US that would do it for free. Why is she at that one?
It's heartbreaking.

3 words,
Cleveland Clinic Foundation

In reference to your question about Marlie Casseus, I will like to give
you a very explicit answer:

Non residents of the United States can not receive medical treatment
that is subsidized through government funds received through the
collection of taxes. That is the reason Marlie does not qualify for
medical services here.

Marlie will be schedule for surgery very soon, thanks to the generosity
of our people. I also want to assure you that from the moment she got
to
Miami she had a tracheotomy to help her breath on her own and she was
given a feeding tube to nourish her. These were necessary steps before
the surgery could be planned and it was done before any fundraising
campaign was ever started. We would never jeoperdize the life of a
child
by waiting to raise funds.

At the International Kids Funds we help these families get
humanitarian
visas for medical assistance, we provide them with highly discounted
hospital rates and we help them raise the funds to cover the surgery
and/or treatment. All in all, we become their home away from home. In
only three years, we have helped hundreds of children from 22 different
countries.

This child has truly touched many hearts and it makes me privileged to
have had a small part in helping turn her life around. Marlie is
special
child with dreams and plans for her future, but so are all of our IKF
children. They come in all sizes, with a multitude of problems and from
very diverse societies...they are all children in need of our help.

Thank you for caring and I hope that I was able to clear your
concerns,
Just so you know I emailed them and this was their reply. Thank you.

Do not donate to this fund this is a lie - the doctors are donating their time - there are 16 of them working to remove the tumor. Some people are sick and want you to donate to charities that will not be assisting with this operation. Liars.

Go back to google and click a real news source, not this shit ass web site.
