You'll want to be sure and understand the context of this bill. It was to protect free speech on the Internet. Due to the suspended session rules, it required a two-thirds majority to pass. It won a majority and based upon that should pass in a full vote. It's important that that happens before the FEC issues new regulations.
You can read the sponsor of the bill's reaction here - and the roll call break down here.
143 democrats and 38 republicans voted Nay meaning they would not agree to suspend the rules and allow the bill to protect Internet free speech to pass. If one of them is your Congressman, you might want to let them know how you feel.

Folks, if you have ever seen a time to write your congressman--it is now.
This is extremely important.
It doesn't take much, and they WILL pay attention IF it is a MASSIVE campaign. They are still afraid of the people...but they won't be much longer if we do not act.

News.........Understand where you are coming from. But your keystroke or your voice is never wasted. Other than writting your own rep, let those surrounding you know how you feel. I am in PA, Spector makes me want to throw up. I choose to have my voice heard with our other Sen., Rick Santorum. I may not be in his district, but he sure as hell listens.

Thanks for the run down Dan.
I suggest if you are not aware of who your represenative is, contact your local party headquarters, league of women voters or your local board of election bureau.

Cindi is right,
i am not even in Ron Paul's district here and he responds and I get his newsletter as well. He is the only one I will donate money to, and there are thousands in Texas that support him even though they are not in his district. So if you have a congressman in your state that at least leans toward the Constitution--write him/her.
