Yes, it sounds incredibly premature just now. But it's also doings like this on the ground that will eventually allow Iraq to emerge from behind the shadow of confusion and violence where it sits today. This is a long road and fight, but the more quickly government legitimacy and dependable security forces are established ... the sooner Iraq will have a chance to become just another peaceful nation, ... like France, perhaps.
Okay, that sounds like a mean-spirited joke, but think about it. Iraq needs to rise up from where it is today to develop stability, certainly. But don't think it can't happen. A week ago I as much as anyone else might have thought what is happening in France right now couldn't happen.
Things change. We've come too far and paid too much in blood and treasure not to want Iraq to continue to change for the better. And it can.
A £48m, five-star, 23-storey hotel rising in the city centre; an opulent palace complex being turned into a theme park; cheap flights to the picturesque "Venice of the east" - all the trappings of a country gearing up for a tourist boom.
Except the country in question is Iraq. With a new constitution and elections in the offing, officials insist there is a new beginning. The tourist board has 2,400 staff and 14 offices.

But, says an official: "Tourists should dress like locals and maybe dye their hair. And they should have armed guards and they should be always vigilant."

War enhanced simulation...comes with the luxury of 1st class accommodations...I'd rather stroll the local park with farel cats, heel nipping squirrels...and those dreadful alligator crossing signs...I-4 can also be as risky!

Disney Iraq? Excellent idea! The sooner the better. It will teach the kids about our loveable characters instead of Jihad Ahmad ,create jobs, help them assimilate, offer hope for a peaceful future...Where do I invest.
