First -- yea!!
The trauma Kara is going to experience when she comes out of shock will be unreal.

God bless Natalee, by the way.

I think I heard on TV that there are 5 kids in this family. Now they are all orphans. How incredibly sad for this to happen. These two kids would have probably broke up in a few months anyway, as it usually goes. My gosh, why anyone would think that there was no other way but to murder two people, is beyond me. I wonder what David, and maybe Karis are thinking about right now? Was it worth the cost?

Oops, that is Kara, not Karis.

Its a damn shame this happened. I cannot believe that these things are happening so often these days.
Her life is ruined and her sister and brother and older siblings as well. No mom and dad for any of these kids now. Too damn sad.
The guy that did it obviously has a serious problem. For him to do this kind of thing he certainly was not a nice young man as reported.
He is finished with his life now. Short lived on the outside. Now he can live on the inside til he dies. Sad but true. Another set of lives ruined !

I don't have com-cast - can i still view the video somewhere somehow??

Thanks

The pictures that are in the press make it look like Kara has major attitude. That may be sending the wrong message out to the media and public.

You can see video on both www.yahoo.com and www.foxnews.com

I live in Indy, just saw the news. The police are nor going to be giving any specifics... they would not say if they are viewing Kara as a victim or a suspect... I view her as a victim myself... They are considering if they are going going to extradite them back to Pa. Said Kara is unharmed, frantic screaming and crying. They had put a blanket over her and she was not cuffed. His ass was cuffed on the ground... If he gets the death penalty, his execution would probably take place here, even if he were not caught her bacuse we do it for quite a few states in the midwest and east coast... at the prison here in Terre Haute Indiana... Ironic considering he drove through Terre Haute before being captured today... Thank goodness he did not take Kara's life :)

if it is true that the guy went with a gun=pre-meditation!
if he went there and used a gun in the house the, Maybe a murder=2, because i do believe this to be true.
i think kara has alot to tell the police about her relationship with him. maybe they had talked about her running away with him, but, that wouldn't work, so they figured a meeting with the parents would help her to justify her thoughts about this young man. evidently they all wound up in a pushing, shoving, fight, that ended with murder.
my heart goes out to the families and to especially these children.
May the Hand of GOD Watch Over You in These Trying Times !

I have to wonder about whether the girl is a victim or suspect. This same scenario has been played out so many times and often young naive love turns into consenting homicide.

I suppose time will tell, but I have my suspicions that the tears didn't fall until reality set in.

Also, the fact that she is still alive leans heavily towards this being a planned event, one of which she both knew about, as well as went along with.

Had she fought it, I believe she would have shared the same fate as her parents.

I was so afraid this would end up being a murder-suicide on top of the tragic murder of the parents. However, I am sure the police have a million questions for Kara...for instance, did she know David had a gun?

David reminds me somewhat of Ben Fawley. His life is finished. I don't know if Pa has the dp, but if the feds get involved, it is quite possible that he will get the dp.

If you watch the video footage from the chopper, you will notice Mr. Ludwig on the ground secured in cuffs. Later you will also see Ms. Borden in the front seat of the Indiana State police cruiser through the windshield and the side, with her hands secured by cuffs behind her back as she moves forward in the cruiser, a slight glare from the metal cuffs can be seen. It is at this time that a plainclothes officer is seen covering her body with a blanket after she is seat belted in.

Here's what I'm sick of, help me out: I watch the news, they have now discovered the blogs and the social sites like myspace and tickle. So this horrible guy, David, has some photos online. The news is making a big deal about a photo of him gutting a deer that he or his group shot. Apparently he is smiling or smirking while gutting the dead deer. This is apparently big news as it is distubing to the news folks that he would seemingly enjoy or be happy about this event.

I ask all you hunters and fishermen, is this a big deal? I've known people that hunt and fish all my life. This is no big deal and it isn't abnormal. Hunters know right from wrong, they understand the difference between a deer and a human. Thye would also probably be smiling while gutting their prey, hell, it takes a long time to bring it down. That is not weird.

What is weird is how news people interpret blogs and personals. They put their persona into it. That is wrong. Does Nancy Grace have a clue what it's like to be 18 or 20 today? No way, so how can she offer an opinion about photos or the things people write about, or the fact that a 14 year old may write in pink aout God in her website. They have no perspective. They have no idea what's weird or normal. What is normal to Nancy Grace, is not necessarily normal to our society.

Am I the only one?

And another thing, this guy did a terrible thing. We seem to know this by all accounts. He killed Karas parents and kidnapped Kara and led everyone on a chase across the country.

OK, that;s messed up for sure. It sucks. But does it have to be predictable? Like should we have known he was going to do this based on his social blogs? And if so, well let's get busy and check out all the other freaks out there writing about weird shit and getting ready to blow someone away.

My point is - people write about weird shit. Kids lie about their age to be more acceptable. So what? Is that weird or freaky? No, it's actually in the realm of normal. Cause about 75% of all people online lie about themselves, age, weight, looks, anything to get someone to chat with them.

If that many people are doing it, is it abnormal? To me it's like a psychology experiment on steriods. Go for it, it right there in front of you. Write a thesis on it and get your PhD.

That little skank was involved.Reverse the situation.18yr old girl 14 yr old boy......I am sure they thought they where in "love" and planned it....I doubt he would do this on his own......JMO

No, you are not. The news "experts" made me ill tonight. I live in Lancaster County and homeschool, and I could not BELIEVE the "expert" that was on talking about how repressed homeschool kids are...about how "isolated" they are...that Christians just pray about situations in which supposedly non-Christians would see professional mental health experts.
First of all, David was a life guard at a rec center, was in a homeschool association (which can get quite large - there are WAITING lists to get into the popular ones!), and was working, I believe, at an electronics store. I would hardly call that "isolated".
I won't go into a big long defense of homeschooling. Suffice it to say, that the kids that are usually involved in these types of situations *aren't* typically homeschooled...

I don't want this to be a new Charles Starkweather-Carol Fugate story.

I KNOW this family (the Ludwigs). My daughters played with them, they went to our church (we moved out of the area a little over 1 year ago) and this family DID NOT play church. They lived their faith. I didn't know Greg Ludwig (the father) and David as well as the mother and daughters. But this is a woman with a daughter who has Downs Syndrome. They told her to put the girl in an institution when she was little. She refused and today this child is a sweet, articulate young lady. She loves life, plays the violin and was a gentle friend to my daughter. How can she and David come from the same family? This is a boy who played in the town band WITH HIS FATHER. His mother and sisters would go to all of their performances. This wasn't a detached family, unless things have DRASTICALLY changed in the last year. I keep playing this over and over in my mind trying to make sense out of something that will NEVER make sense. I do know that I used to look at these types of situations and think "the parents of this guy must have really been horrible", but now I know that isn't always the case and some things are beyond explanation. It is SOOO sad. This girl's family has been totally destroyed, but so has his family. I will do less finger pointing and more praying when I hear of these situations in the future.

Does anyone know if he was taking antidepressants?

The only reason I ask is that so often with this type of senseless killing by a young person they are.

I think the reason people want to vilify all those involved in such situations is so that they can feel safe and secure that horrible things will never happen to them. Teens live by their emotions a lot of the time but most times don't totally muck up their lives because of those emotions. This is the time of life where ZITS can seem like the end of the world. Some parents can do everything right and have something like this happen just as easily as some parents can skate by with kids that don't give them a bit of trouble ... and somehow those parents think it is something THEY did that had everything turn out so well.

btw: did you live near the Lititz/501 area?

Even people of "faith" face spiritual pitfalls and sin... I can't get over how people act so shocked when a "religious" person commits an atrocious act.
If we have learned one thing by now it should be that humans are capable of ANYTHING.

I suppose this is what allows men of God to rape children or a man of God to rape his own child...

We can think we know someone or a family well, but what do we really know about what goes on when the doors are closed?

We should also realize that there are many different perversions of religion. Look no further than our own soil and the Religious Right nut jobs that blow up abortion clinics, often taking lives in the name of God....

As for the knock on home schooling, yes, it can be a place where this type of theology and ideology is bred (look at the White-Power "Nationalist" singing twins of Prussian Blue.) This of course depends on the parents, who are ultimately responsible for the seeds they've sown and what types of life lessons they've nurtured their seeds with.

Generalizing is dangerous... of course not ALL home schooled children will become killers, but a lot do have trouble with developing social skills.

The again, so do many kids who go to public and private school..

The root of the seed is planted at HOME, that's where the answers to these questions can usually be found.

All I know is that if it can happen to this family, it can happen to anyone. Unless there were some deep dark secrets in that house, these parents were GREAT. I will never understand...............

BTW: no, we no longer live in the Lititz area.

If you ask me she wan't kiddnapped but rather went with him....sure she was crying and a bit shaken(she just saw her parrents killed) but I have a boyfriend my parents don't know about because of our age difference...he would never kill my parents but if he wanted to "run away" i would go in a heart beat...it could be said thats because i'm young...etc...but if she being homeschooled(like myself)lived the life I do...she would go... thats just my point of veiw...ii'm not saying she couldn't have been kidnapped but...what would have been david's point of keeping kara if she didn't want to go?he could have just killed her there is he was worried about her being a witness to the murders...

The pictures from the hunting trip are not that bad. If you look closely all the bottles the boys pretend to be drinking out of are empty. The guns found in the house should have been locked away so that he did not have access to them but for no reason should be parent be penalized for owning firearms. For David's upstanding character I think people need to look at his history. People from his church know that last summer he stole his parents' car, money and a firearm and took a 14/15 year old girl to the family cabin. Why was he not punished then? Why was more not done to prevent him from seeing another 14/15 year old girl? No one is stating that his parents' are to blame for his problems or actions. They are victims too. What people are stating is that more punishment should have been dealt and professional help seeked outside of the family and church. Religion and belief in God, gives you the fundamentals to do the right things but it does not guarantee that you will do the right thing.

it is truly sad that these parents are dead for trying to pro
tect there child... but its also sad that children have no respect for there parents these days all these parents was doing was in the best intrest of there daughter...and you can tell me but you cant make me believe that this girl is a victim she could have gotten away or called for help...now her bro and sisters have no parents to guid them...she didnt want guidance or she wouldnt have disobeied her parents when they told her not to see this person ....to call her a victim is stupid ......now they are calling for a trust fund for these children and they should but not for her she is just as guilty as the young man is... its been said that she comes from a well off family so there should be money to help as well... if the law dont want cant do anything about her god will punish her no bad deed ever goes unoticed by god..... but i hope the law seeks not only justice from the young man but her as well..... i dont know anyone envoled myself but common sence tells you she was part..... celia

I had a friend who was murder by her daughter's boyfriend and the daughter acted as the lookout. They met through the internet also. It's sensless. I hope the put him away for life like my friend's murderer. So many young people are mental ill. Where are this boy's parents???
