This is a serious initiative I wanted to give people an opportunity to support should they choose to:
A grass-roots group is mobilizing more than 100,000 Americans to urge Congress to pass a bill that would curb the ACLU by denying plaintiff attorneys the right to collect attorneys fees in lawsuits targeting religion in the public square.
As regards petition signatures, the effort is well over half way there. The key factor here for me is taxpayer dollars. I have no intention of supporting an initiative to shut down the ACLU. However, as things stand, when they bring suit and collect attorney's fees - they collect same from the goverment - IE our tax dollars.
As many of the suits they bring these days are not in keeping with my particular politics, I have absolutely no problem working to deny them the capability of reaching into my pocket and jerking me around, twice.
Perhaps you disagree .... perhaps you're just lonely. I don't know. But please do think about it, won't you? If the ACLU won't help keep the hands of pedophiles off of our children, we can at least try and keep their hands out of our treasury.

Thank you!

Perhaps mutual contempt will cancel itself out, eventually leaving a residue of quiet respect.....

Tit for tat, dude.
Then you're also against using Federal Tax dollars for Faith-based charities, right?

Not your "particular politics"!
My politics are to defend civil rights, even when they are unpopular. I will not sign this petition.
"First They Came for the Jews
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me."

The same laws allowing money to ACLU also allows your money to attorneys for NAACP etc.
Let alone the free attorney for Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc Also for hispanics.
In an election year do you think anyone is going to take the originally enfranchised sub sets free attorney away from them. And lose votes. No conservative or liberal is that moral.
