I was surprised to read of fighting between American and Syrian troops along the border, with the largest and most intensive fire fight said to have taken place this summer. The report originated in the NYTimes linked from here. I linked the Herald Tribune to avoid the registration.
WASHINGTON A series of clashes over the past year between American and Syrian troops - including a prolonged firefight this summer that killed several Syrians - has raised the prospect that cross-border military operations may become a new and dangerous front in the Iraq war, according to current and former military and government official.
I figured Glenn would have it if it had been widely reported and his site is searchable, so I looked and found this from summer:
MORE OF THIS PLEASE: "American troops on the Syrian border are enjoying a battle they have long waited to see - a clash between foreign al-Qa'eda fighters and Iraqi insurgents.
Interesting. I wonder who shot the Syrians, and if we aren't, as opposed to pregnant, at least just a little bit at war.

I guess it's time to kick some ass with the king of battle. Arty FO
