When The Levee Breaks
Again? This is troubling.
The levee manager is not too hopeful about the future. He says St. Bernard’s rebuilt levee system will be better than it was before Katrina for the next few years.
Then, Bob Turner predicts that the soft marshy soil that supports the levees will subside again, leaving a less than perfect barrier - a levee that even at full strength, will be no match for any hurricane like Katrina.

They don't need to rebuild homes on St Benards Parrish. Buy out the home owners, make it a federal or state park, and turn it into a recreational area with minimal permanent structures. This is getting to be ridiculous, the cost of all this rebuilding and beach replenishments (go off shore, dig up sand and put it on beach area, next hurricane comes in and moves sand back out under water and off shore, go back off shore, dig up the sand and put it on beach area, next hurricane comes in .....$$$$ millions, etc...At least most of the things rebuilt elsewhere are actually ABOVE sea level.

I guess they look at it like flushing the toilet. Why flush if you are going to use it again? Heck let's spend billions, (and you know it will be our money) rebuilding, so what if we have another hurricane next year and have to do it again....besides, look at all the jobs it provides so we have a way to get rid of more taxpayer dollars---for a good cause.
Kind of like the couple who has nine kids, and just found out what causes them.
