I thought the other guy was Bones?
LOS ANGELES - George Takei, who as helmsman Sulu steered the Starship Enterprise through three television seasons and six movies, has come out as a homosexual in the current issue of Frontiers, a biweekly Los Angeles magazine covering the gay and lesbian community.

Shocker... :P

His sexuality is a nonissue. His own business and No One else's.

Agreed, however, he made it everyone's business by way of the article.

cindi in pa: True, he came out with it, but it still really is not for anyone to judge him for it. Maybe he thought this was the way to go before some sleaze magazine made the announcement. Sad that our society should be interested in someone's sexual persuasion.

DeForest Kelley played the ship's chief medical officer, named Dr Leonard McCoy or 'Bones'.

Not for anyone to judge? I think it is. You have the right to be who you are, but why do you have to parade it in front of those who don't want to know, nor care about it one way or another. Where does one get the right to force feed the nation with their perverted lifestyle?
We hear how it should be illegal for a christian to promote their religion because it might "offend" someone...and we can judge that, but if it is a pervert...well, let's not be too judgemental. The hell with that.
When you stick something in my face I am going to make a judgement. If you don't like that judgement---keep it out of my face.
You say our society is interested in someone's sexuality. They have to make a "judgement" to be interested, not interested, offended or happy about it.
So why does anyone feel the urge to promote their sexuality, one way or another? Because behind each and every act, of each and every individual, there is a motive...and being "non-judgemental" has its own motive as well.

So what is the motive of being non-judgemental?

I agree with Alamo. I could care less but why do these gay people feel a need to have a news article written about their sexuality? That does bother me, the only people that care to read about it is either people that want to hate on them, or the rest of the gays. Either way, please spare me the drama.
Especially in this particular case. When was the last time you heard a word about this guy. Do you think someone was really going to out an old actor who isn't even working anymore? I mean who could possibly care?

LOL...that was not an attack on you.
It is making the "judgement" not to voice your comments or feelings, due one of a number of factors, NONE of which are wrong, but you DO have a judgement...we all do. There is no such thing as a non judgement, it is just that you don't wish to voice yours because you do not feel they are the business of the general public. Nothing wrong with that, by the way, but it is still a motive behind the non verbalization of the judgement.

TheAlamo: I am truly nonjudgemental. He can do what he wants-not within my reach geographically, won't affect my life on any level. I have no intention of reading the magazines he's in either. Just no interest at all. However, I have drawn certain conclusions about the others bloggers on this site. That's what this article is really about-to gauge our responses to it and to each other. LOL

This is just about as much news as Dick Cheney anouncing he is a conservative. Wasn't it already obvious, if not well known?

Looks like George Takei actual has boldly gone were no man has gone before! Or probably where many men have been already.
OK I promised no more cheap jokes on this conservative site, but I could not pass this one up.
