Will the Internet survive globalization? If you haven't kept up on the current controversy as regards the Internet and the UN, you might want to have a look at Pundita's post - which also links through to a post at The Belmont Club.
These issues have a significance we can hardly even imagine for business and for all individuals who use the Internet. It'll make Microsoft versus Apple circa the 1980's look like a friendly game of checkers.
There is a lot at stake - wish I had time to say more right now, but I will address it at a later date.

IF we had an America first administration the answer to this would be simple.
Shove it..
Unfortunately, you cannot get elected in this country if you are not an "internationalist" moving toward the UN as the world governing body.
They will end up stealing it because of the gutless "politicians" we have here claiming to be "Americans."
Funny...the politicians think we are the slaves..

This could easily be used in US favor as a tool for economic and political change.
No country or group of countries (EU) could compete with US dominance of internet trade or internet software or hardware.
Finance internet agression with a tax on non US participants and pay off debt or better incur a huge debt to China and then default. Just adding a US tax on Windows systems would have a heavy handed effect on any government in the world.
Banning internet use like in China has and will create an underground internet. If US uses the opportunity like it did Radio Free Europe then a
fomenting of democracy could take place. I am sure the hackers at CIA and State have already accomplished a method to overcome. Hell I can beat AOL spam blocker in about 35 secs.
Your opponent always gives you the opportunity to hurt him if you look for it. Use your opponent against himself. - Book of five rings
