It was in flames?? Hey, wait a minute - that can't be Paris? Everyone knows it's only the United States that has these kind of problems, right? Not those enlightened nations of Europe? Actually, unlike much of Europe, we're one of some few countries which don't have this particular problem - yet.
BOBIGNY, France (Reuters) -- Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy on Monday defended his tough crime policies against claims they helped increase tension after a fourth night of rioting in a Paris suburb in which tear gas was fired into a mosque. It was not clear who had fired the tear gas and Sarkozy, addressing police officers, vowed to find out what had happened.
Don't believe me? Check in with Pundita - at this rate - the Brits are going to have to discover oil, other than what's in the Thames, that is, if they want to remain a friend.
2) In 1997, while he was a Labor Member of Parliament, George Galloway blocked proposed legislation (the "Conspiracy and Incitement Bill") to ban foreign terrorists residing in Britain from "plotting and conducting terrorist operations overseas."
The bill was introduced in the wake of concern in Britain that Mohammed al-Massari was involved with Osama bin Laden's terrorist network. This would be the same al-Massari who headed the Committee for Defense of Legitimate Rights.
Galloway's somewhat tortured argument against the bill amounted to saying that it's not terrorism if you're trying to overthrow a regime you consider repressive, and that foreigners shouldn't be penalized for plotting on British soil to overthrow wicked governments.
And lest you think I'm kidding, you didn't miss this headline, did you?
Prince Charles to plead Islam's cause to Bush
The Prince of Wales will try to persuade George W Bush and Americans of the merits of Islam this week because he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11.
The Prince, who leaves on Tuesday for an eight-day tour of the US, has voiced private concerns over America's "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to appreciate Islam's strengths.
Now, I realize some of this directly above is as much Telegraph talk as it is anything else. But, pardon me if I'm none too interested in being lectured about anything from some guy in a plaid skirt who has bad taste in women, and his only claim to fame is the title into which he was born. There is a reason, after all, why we threw off the concept of a monarchy.
I'm all for Prince Charles getting a job. But lecturing America simply isn't it.
Well, there goes my State Department job ap. ; )

Well said Dan.

You have got to be kidding.
I would love for him to talk with my brother who just made it out of tower 1 on 9-11, and who also survived the attack in 1993.
I would love for him to talk with the families from Middletown NJ, where for 1 week it was nothing but funeral processions.
I agree with you Dan, he is out of his element on this one

He's a dear man, but that inbreeding does take it's toll. If he doesn't behave I say we take his key to the potting shed.

Prince Charles is pulling off this charade in an effort to appease those Muslims in Britain who are demanding this. Now, that might sound wimpy on his part, but they have a big problem there, and no doubt this appeasement tour of his will be seen as an effort to placate the Mullahs and Islamic leaders. It is an empty diplomatic gesture, but it is one that has to be done. I bet anything behind the scenes Prince Charles is griping about this. He's no fool. But if it helps quell anymore bloodshed, why not do it. In turn, it sets an example for the Muslims - if Britons can do it, so should we. But behind closed doors, there is no way Prince Charles is any different from the rest of us in his hatred for Islamofacism. One thing is for sure - he won't be 'lecturing' any Americans. At least not without a wink and a nod.

Charles is a hypocrite, he converted to Islam while he was in Turkey. He prays five times in Britain facing Mecca. That is his real motive of complaining, being a Muslim himself.
