For more details please see links below. The threats of protests and demands for action are starting. Apparently, the military unit even translated the message for Dupont. Great. You let them in, assist them and they stab you in the back by possibly mischaracterizing the whole thing. Be sure and see Jason's link through my article below.
From the wires:
Dupont told the AP the messages had been broadcast in the local dialect but were translated into English for him by members of the Army psychological operations unit. He declined to provide further information, however, saying his agent was now handling all queries about the footage.
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - The U.S. military said Wednesday it found "repugnant" and would investigate a television report that claimed U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan burned the bodies of two Taliban fighters and then used the action to taunt other Islamic militants.
Afghanistan's government demanded that those responsible be punished, and top Islamic clerics warned that anti-American demonstrations may break out.
Islamic clerics warned protests may break out. "This is against Islam. Afghans will be shocked by this news. It is so humiliating," said Faiz Mohammed, a Muslim leader. "There are very, very dangerous consequences from this. People will be very angry."

Many Americans it seems are only upset about burning bodies and taunts from those doing the burning, when the bodies happen to be American and the taunters Iraqi.
Then...the indignation and outrage from much of America kicks in.
But, hey...if it's American's doing the body burning and taunting their enemies, then the outrage from America turns towards those who videotape, film, or photograph the burning.
From where I sit, that's called "hypocracy in action."

The wingnuts are already attacking the journalist. What? The journalist is an a-hole thus what he filmed isn't true, is an illusion, or is fabricated?
This is what people do when they don't like reality - they act like bratty little children and blame somebosy else - "my teacher doesn't like me that's why I got a 'D' on my english test."
It's pathetic and childish.
What happened happened.

Not sure where either of you are sitting. Reading the al Qaeda training manual,I suppose.
If you remember "The Big Flush" back in May of this year. The United States military took those allegations serious as well.

We still need to remember that these Taliban pieces of garbage are out to kill Americans. What was Islam doing when innocent American hostages had their heads chopped off? At least the bodies that were cremeted were enemies. The whole job of psyche ops is to get into the heads of the enemy. Doing what they did was exactly what they were trained to do to draw out the hidden Taliban. If they Taliban weren't such candy a$$es and have to hide inside religious centers, homes, schools, or hospitals, this incident wouldn't have been necessary. You won't see Allied soliders hiding under a rock behind little children for cover....

Who really cares what happens to the garbage? They need to be told to straighten up or it's only going to get worse ( for them) !

Oh. If Dupont doesn't speak the language, then he doesn't know whether the troops "taunted" the locals after cremating the bodies, does he?
This is a particularly moronic bunch of troops, in your view, isn't it? Committing an "outrage" by taunting the locals, and the helpfully translating the words they used to taunt them to an imbedded reporter, just to make sure that they get world-wide publicity for it.
Some people will believe anything. More likely: The locals wouldn't take the bodies, you can't dig through rock, and you can't just leave the bodies to rot right next to you. To believe there was taunting involved, you have to believe that the troops were too dumb to pass the Army entrance exams. To believe there was no taunting, you have to believe that Dupont is embellishing his tale. Why? Well, the same reason he's referring queries to his agent.
But, what do I know? I'm a wingnut.
Peace and love!
