Note: Part two of this series is being worked on and should be up tomorrow or Monday at the latest. I've also begun researching part three, which is likely the most significant.

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard Beth Twitty on with, I believe it was Greta, and she mentioned something as regards Paulus Van Der Sloot having a bastard child. Anyone following this story intensely likely knows of that rumor. As far as I have been able to ascertain the individual in question's Father had owned a local car dealership and is said to have passed away some time ago.

Unless there is some other proof or allegation in this regard of which I have no knowledge, that may have been the most pathetic and sad moment in media coverage around this story I have ever seen. I could almost see myself sitting across from host Greta Van Sustern ala McCarthyism and asking her, Have you no shame?

It's difficult to conclude much other than Natalee Holloway's Mother may be suffering from some form of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, assuming any part of this ordeal is even behind her. I've no idea if she has dealt with some of the feelings and emotions such a terrible sadness would bring - but I hope for Beth Twitty's sake that she finds a way to - she is simply becoming too much to watch.

Along with the terrible experience of seeing this tragic story unfold, seemingly frustrated at every turn by no solid leads - watching the fallout as regards the Mother is becoming incomprehensible.

Perhaps Greta feels some sense of loyalty and doesn't want to deny her access to the airwaves. But somewhere along the line, assuming there is any genuine friendship there, you would think a friend might help someone step aside from their predicament to take a long look inside. These tactics, especially spouting the worst of unproven Internet rumors on national TV is not going to bring Natalee home, or pull supporters to the cause.

It may fuel some of the worst of the conspiracy theorists and die hard faithful who seem to lack the capacity or desire to question anything the woman says ... but this is becoming pathetic to watch and I wish some adult at Fox News would step in and intervene.

Update and Correction: I've been informed it was while on (video) with Catherine Crier Beth made the allegation as regards Paulus having an illegitimate child. Frankly, I was listening, not watching and am finding it increasingly difficult to pay attention to the increasingly ridiculous media reports. I did hear her on recently with Greta and must have been confused. It's also becoming hard to keep track of the outlandish statements being made as regards this case.

Yo, Dan, I've been on this track for sometime now. I just wish someone close to Beth would take her to a good Dr. for her body (she needs to eat and care for herself) and a good psychologist to help her deal with what's happening inside her head and soul. I feel like I'm watching this woman deconstruct in front of me. The sad thing is lots of people online and near her seem to be encouraging her behavior, which is appalling. This is helping solve the case, find Natalee, or help Beth.

John Pauly Speaks Out About Aruba Media Coverage
Since the initial disappearance of Natalee Holloway, media coverage has been constant however not always accurate. As coverage continues with little to no development or new evidence against the primary suspects, some have questioned how members of the media have conducted themselves. Bob Costas refused to cover the story, Mathew Felling of the Center for Media and Public Affairs publicly described the coverage as “emotional pornography," and even CNN's president stated that the coverage has been "easy and brainless."

John Pauly, a media advisor to the Aruba Task Force, spoke with reporter Alan Pergament and shared his experience.

"The media was just running wild down there," said Pauly in a telephone interview from his Philadelphia home. "This little country has never been caught in a media storm and had no idea what was going on. Everyone is sympathetic to Beth Holloway (Natalee's mom) for losing her daughter. But the media overwhelmed the island. They were chasing people down the street."

A former newspaper reporter who ruffled his share of feathers at Channel 7 and Channel 2, Pauly might seem to be an odd choice for his Aruban role. "I know both sides of the story," said Pauly. "I'm an aggressive journalist, but I'm also a very honest and ethical journalist."

He thinks the mainstream media - the broadcast networks and the Associated Press - has been very professional. But he says he has witnessed some outrageous, out-of-control behavior from Fox News anchors and producers and CNN's Nancy Grace.

According to Pauly, Grace reported that Natalee was kidnapped by white slavers and speculated that one of Natalee's arms may have washed up in Venezuela.

"The currents and the winds don't go to Venezuela, they go to Panama," said Pauly. "It turned out the thing was an animal bone."

Pauly said Grace highlighted on her show a guy who said he saw the three suspects, Dutch teen Joran Van Der Sloot and brothers Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, bury the body in a garbage dump. Pauly said the witness changed his story, saying he saw Van Der Sloot's father burying the body and that it was in a pool liner.

"It all turned out to be absolute nonsense," said Pauly. "Nancy Grace is a drama queen. She bounces from the Queen of Overkill to a cheap-shot artist. It has nothing to do with the facts. She is the worst."

Asked for a response, CNN's Laurie Goldberg, a senior vice president of public relations, e-mailed: "Nancy makes no qualms about being a victim's rights advocate, and she's not afraid to tackle controversial or high-profile cases. Sometimes when she shines a light on such a case, she angers people."

Pauly doesn't have much use for Fox News, either. But he considers Greta Van Susteren as the most fair. "That is like saying Curly is the smartest of the Three Stooges," said Pauly. Fox News wouldn't respond to Pauly's comments.

A newsman who covered the case but wished to remain anonymous praised Pauly, who set up regular noon briefings to allow Aruban authorities to correct errors and rumors.

"He was always ready to help, doing his best to get information from a government almost always mute or sparing of words, and often anticipating the reporters' requests," the source replied in an e-mail. "A newsman himself, he understands the press. One can only hope he helped the Aruban government understand it better."

Pauly felt the cable news offenders never gave the Aruban government and other officials credit for giving employees days off to search for Natalee, using three F-16 fighter jets with special radar to search for her and conducting an Arms Across Aruba prayer vigil for her. "That got about maybe 20 seconds and then they went right back to the nonsense," said Pauly.

Pauly said the nonsense included Fox's Geraldo Rivera saying the suspects were released because the world's attention had been diverted by Hurricane Katrina. Pauly said they were released after a hearing that was scheduled six weeks earlier. "There was no way on God's earth anyone would know six weeks in advance a hurricane was coming."

Pauly feels his "greatest triumph" was persuading Aruban authorities to hold a press briefing when the suspects were released and made available for interviews.

"The Aruban police thought the American media were morons because of all the misinformation they were putting on the air," said Pauly. "So they weren't about to cooperate with them."

He persuaded the police to co-operate with the media or risk the probability that the media would stake out the prison and suspect's homes and there would be threats to public safety.

"This was the first time in the history of this investigation that the police actually cooperated with the media," said Pauly. "So the media got their access to ask questions."

Unfortunately, the question of what happened to Holloway may never be solved. "Look at it from a logical point of view," said Pauly. "There's no body, so there's no murder. There's no crime. There's no rape because there's no complainant. There's no forensic evidence, no credible witnesses. So what are you going to do with these guys?"

"It is horrible that a mother is missing her child, but you can't impeach the entire island of Aruba for a missing girl," said Pauly. "These are good, honest, hard-working people." He wouldn't say the same about certain tabloid journalists who went wild.

"If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it," said Pauly

I have to say I agree. I can understand how Beth feels but I must say this: enough with the rumors and hersay. I hope the media one day starts to question her like an actual guest. Hersay and rumors will not advance this case, actual facts will.

So many people in Aruba who supported Beth and in the beginning even accepted her antics are now completely fed up.
This is not the right direction to go.

This child didn't simply disappear into thin air and these boys are covering their own behinds. If they passed her off to someone, they need to reveal what they know. Whatever happened to that 2 hour special or whatever that was supposed to air on FOX about the case? It was postponed and then forgotten about it would seem. That is odd. It seems to me that instead of having Beth on for 10 minutes every day, without any time for follow up questions, that these shows should maybe devote a little more time to actually investigate the case. Have Beth on and get everything out in one sitting with any hard evidence presented. These 10 to 15 minute segments are just embarrasing as Dan has stated. They really serve no purpose. I'm sure everyone that watches can think of dozens of follow up questions to ask. It's almost as if the interviewers aren't listening to what is said during the interviews. It's just "OK" and on to the next question.

Shari, How many grieving mothers have you seen behave with so much mendacity and vindictiveness? We would be much more sympathetic without the lies and changing stories. This has ceased to be about Natalee and is now all about Beth.

For most of the thinking public, Beth is just as responsible as the media for the public reputation lynching that is going on.

Beth should take some behavioral clues from the dignity of Sharon Rocha and the mother of Taylor Behl.

I still feel sorry for Beth and I think that no matter what she says, she must be dying every day knowing that someone, somewhere, most likely raped and murdered her only daughter.

It's not a popularity contest between Beth and Dave. Let's face it, they are two different people who have both lost the same daughter, and they deal with it differently.

I still feel bad for Beth and I can't imagine what she is going through. Every night must be spent tossing and turning, with her brain trying to come up with some way to end all of this nonsense.

At this point, she probably can't even remember what is the truth and what is rumor, yet she feels she still has to appear strong and determined. I know I would not be able to handle any of what she has been through.

Beth can't properly grieve because the trauma is ongoing, not over, she's trying to FIND HER DAUGHTER or what happened to her. Still searching and needs support. She has mine. And I pray that God will help her in every way. When she does have PT Stress Syndrome, she will need MORE love and support.

Laci and Behl's bodies were found, Laci had a funeral and Behl will also. Mrs. Twitty's daughter is still missing and presumed dead.

Greta was the one allowing Beth the airtime to speak her thoughts without being fair and BALANCED toward the other side.

I emailed Greta concerning lies that BHT had made on her show. I even went so far as to send her the transcripts from her own show proving that Greta was lied to.

I received not a whisper back from Greta. Nor did she ask Beth anything concerning her lies.

Beth used the media just as the media used her. We would never allow someone from another country to make us out to be total idiots, yet this is EXACTLY what BHT has done.......and the American public for the most part swallowed it all........hook, line, and sinker.

Everyone praises the way Dave Holloway is handling things. I praise him too. He has been so much more gracious than I could have been.
Will it continue? I imagine if he had been witness to hearing the Investigators talking about these American Bitches in there own language like Jug and Beth did (although Beth did not know what the words meant) while they were at the police station to give there statement that Natalee was missing, we may have seen a different side to Dave as well.I hope Beth , Jug and Dave all have the strength to continue there hunt for the truth about what happened to Natalee.
I wonder too how any of us would have handled it.I think Mothers and Fathers do handle grief differently.
I also do not think the media took advantage of Beth. I think Beth has been a willing participant in this to keep Natalees name in the news and to pressure the Aruba authorities to continue investigating and not just sweep this under the rug. I think the same is true of all the folks who have been on tv keeping this alive.JMHO

Greta corrected the deal about Paulus sweating. Greta had commented after interviewing Paulus and Anita about his sweating also and that it seemed to make him look guilty. She later retracted it on her show. She said that she had talked to several of his friends and they all said Paulus was a big sweater and that he often carried a towel around with him because of it.

Personal problems such as sweating or acne, etc.,etc. is in no way an indication of guilt. I doubt very seriously if Greta suffered through comments about her appearance before she had cosmetic surgery. Would it make HER guilty of any crime?? No. Personal problems will/are never to be used as guilt markers. Greta knew much better than that since she IS a lawyer.

To retract her statement does nothing for the millions of people that honestly believed what she and BHT spouted that night and other nights.

The fact that BHT and Greta reduced themselves to PERSONAL comments about the parties involved shows how LITTLE concrete evidence they have. None of us in the good ole USA would tolerate someone acting here the way that BHT and the media has acted in Aruba.

BHT's jet party went straight to the Van der Sloats house at 2 or 3 in the morning DEMANDING. How would you like to be awakened at that time in the morning and be faced with a posse of people from another country.

It has not ceased to amaze me that so many people in this country AGREED with BHT. Have we not become more civilized than this??

BHT from the first moment was demanding things from Joran and his family. Yet the majority of people in the US never turned it around and put themselves in the line of fire.

Sadly, we've answered my civilized question quite well with this one case. We speak one way and act another. How sad that we've come to this. How sad that so many people believed and trusted a mother DEMANDING her daughter back. One insult after another were hurled by BHT at Aruba and the inhabitants. Americans were sure to stand by one of her own. Sadly, we did.........without giving any thought to her actions or the facts involved. How can anyone claim to know how it feels to have a child murdered and then dictate what's the proper way to behave? I don't see BH acting out of the ordinary under these horrific circumstances and she looks like hell because I'm sure she's living in HELL.

Btw! Tonight on Fox's Big Story the new (?) Arubian Chief of Police said he believes they've already spoken to the ones "responsible" for whatever has happened to NH. That's the three boys (YKW) that were detained and released. He also said they're checking up on new leads that also point to them. And they definitely want that tape of Deepak that aired on Dr. Phil but the show will only hand it over if the prosecutor herself comes on and gets it in person. As of now they will not comply. It's in the best interest of this case (and finally justice for NH?) for Dr. Phil to back off this demand so why won't he?

I commented on Greta since it was HER show that I noticed the lie from BHT on. I wrote an email to Greta informing her of the lie and even enclosing the transcripts of the lie as proof. I received no return email nor did Greta ask BHT for her reasons to lie.

If this case proves that someone did actually murder Natalee then I'm all for the justice system to decide his/their innocence or guilt. However, I can't and won't be behind people demanding justice by personal attacks and innuendo.

As far as other moms that have lost children.....I don't seem to be able to recall a single one of them confronting the perpetrator's at their houses and being allowed to talk negatively about the person THEY BELIEVED was guilty. In this country it would be grounds for libel and a lawsuit.

Sharon Rocha dealt with not knowing where Laci was for (I believe)4 months. We heard her confront Scott on the tapes read in court. I think there was one time when Sharon talked in public about her feelings for Scott and that was when he was arrested if my recollection serves me right. Sharon had plenty of opportunity to speak out against Scott and chose not to. Why? Because she did NOT want her actions to spoil justice being served by Scott's conviction. Here is a mother than points the finger not only at certain people, but a complete police department, justice department, country, and on down till she got to all people living there as well.

There are plenty of mothers out there that have no clue what happened to their daughter and plenty that DO have a clue yet cannot say publicly due to "not enough evidence." Do they act as BHT has throughtout her daughter's disappearance?

There are also mothers that have lost their daughters in other foreign countries and had to deal with a police department that could care less, but do you hear them demanding more FBI agents for their cases?

Look at every case......every single disappearance, every single murder of American women. Do any of them act or acted the way that BHT has? She has demeaned the whole island of Aruba and yet she expects support and understanding for the loss of her daughter.

Ok, that's rich........it honestly is.......we were angry at the French not too long ago. Would we still give them the respectful police consideration if they came here and something happened to one of them? How long would you be interested in helping them if they bad-mouthed every single thing American? and did so with the media so that it was plastered everywhere?

Aruba is another country. As such it is up to us to respect them. They sure have given an awful lot to help find Natalee. Can we respect them even when we cannot understand the judicial issues of their government?

I just watched Big Story on FOX and an Aruban investigator said Dr Phil won't hand over the full unedited tape on Deepak without the prosecutor going on the show to recieve the tape which she won't do. This coupled with Skeeters comment that he wanted the tape out for the media because he respects them so much really shows how this interview was really not about finding out the truth about Natalee, but just about making money. It is really sad.

Never met Dan but I picture him as the loser in HS that thought everyone was screwing the beauty queens but him. He has no clue that some 18 yr old girl beauty queens are just that and really are naive enough to think romance on Aruba is real without drugs and sex. Meeting another tourist from anothe country that was near her age, tall, dark, and handsome was like out of a novel.

Dan - are there two Dan's posting here? I find it difficult to believe, that the main "Dan" of the Riehlwordview website would personally attack a poster (calling mona "stupid")...referring to posts from yesterday at 5:55 and 5:58. Just curious...the "Dan" who writes the articulate pieces for this site (whether one agrees with them or not)I wouldn't think would promote name calling. As i've said before, these posts of Dan's truly IMO precipitate great debates and exchanges of differing viewpoints...i apologize if it is the "real Dan", who i'm sure justifiably gets frustrated with this story (as we all do)...but could someone please clarify if there are two "Dan"s; IMHO it appears to be two different people (and further if i recall, the real Dan was interested in what direction these websites should take and requested commentary to that issue....same guy who calls someone stupid? If anyone has any grips,bellyaches and complaints coming as far as losing friends and loved ones is concerned....its me!

Two of my very best friends in high school were killed in a car wreck on prom night my senior year due to alcohol and high speed! Sadly,they cause their own deaths by their very poor choices and their risky behavior!
I enlisted in the military right after graduating from high school at age seventeen and at age eighteen I was in active combat in the first gulf war and I was right smack in the middle where the fight was dirty and nasty! Six of my friends were killed and two of my very close friends died in my arms a few hours apart from each other.
I come home and get out of the military and my seven month old baby boy dies of SIDS (Crib Death),two months later my wife filled with unbearable grief walks out of the marrage and a week later she commits suicide and 4 months later my mom dies from sudden cardiac death! The deaths and burials of my love ones were a private family matter!
I did not call the news media and make a world wide production out of it and blame the three stooges and the nation of Aruba for what happened to my family members; I did not grown and moan for millions of dollars of financial contributions to meet all my expenses so me and the the rest of my family members could live high on the hog!

So please spare me the how would I feel non-sense! I have already been there and I know how it feels!
Beth needs to just grieve and get it out of her system and go on with life! People do this everyday and she needs to just do the same!
No its not easy,but it is necessary and it has to be done!
If Beth is a christian,she needs to fall back on her faith in God and let him help her get over this ordeal and remove all the hatred and revenge that she has deeply rooted in her heart for the three boys and all the people of Aruba!
Beth needs to get her bible and read the entire third chapter of Ecclesiastes; A Time for Everything!

This case is and always has been and continues to be a private family matter of the Holloways and the Twitty's and it needs to stay that way; and the media should have never given it the coverage that it has recieved for the past 4 months and still continues to do on a limited basis!

Please dont even try to tell me Beth's loss of Natalee in Aruba is any different from the loss of my own child to SIDS! The loss is the same regardless of the age of the child or the cause of the death of the child!

I am a Registered Nurse and work in the emergency department and I work on all types of life and death emergencies on a daily basis and even though we use the most modern highly advanced medical equipment and the most up to date highy advanced medical procedures,some patients in all age groups still die on us and even though most of the people I dont know on a personl basis, I still dislike losing them and so do my co-workers and the doctors!

Most people cant seem to grasp the simple concept that the entire Twitty family including Natalee had already been to Aruba several different times, and Beth knew exactly what Aruba was like and she still sent Natalee down there by herself anyway while she run off to another state with her friends! Beth had to have known that the MB kids were going to Aruba for one thing and that was to party which included drinking,drugs and wild sex! Beth knew that Natalee was not only highly rebellious but she was also wild!
Like it or not,Natalee's highly risky behavior coupled with her very poor stupid choices most likely put herself in harms way!
Just because Joran was the last person to be seen with Natalee does not mean that he is the one who may have harmed her,there are far too many other possibilities of things that may have happened to her!
Natalee was seen back at the hotel by a fellow classmate after she had been with Joran!
Natalee being back at the hotel is where the trail turns cold! What happened to her at the hotel is where the mystery begins!!
