Jason Coleman has a thorough, well broken down round up of issues as regards Samuel Alito. We'll be hearing about them for a while, I suspect.
Meanwhile, the ACLU is weighing in:
“This is a pivotal moment in our nation’s history,” said Anthony D. Romero, the ACLU’s Executive Director. “The administration is claiming unprecedented national security powers, reproductive rights are in jeopardy, the teaching of evolution is under attack, and we continue to struggle with a legacy of discrimination.
Geesh, why worry about evolution since we'll soon have no reproductive rights? Silly man. Or is it really our un-reproductive rights he's worried about? And I'm unconvinced we'd be struggling with as significant a legacy of discrimination some portray if certain elements would simply shut up and stop harping on it all day, every day.
For the record, I am not anti-choice - but federal funding, partial birth abortion and parental notification aren't clear winners with me.

Here we go again. More on the abortion issue. I read some of the posts on that page and I find it interesting that some make the "anti-prohibition" argument, and try to compare it with alcohol prohibition with statements like "prohibition" increased the frequency...and making drugs illegal has not stopped them from doing drugs etc,...so let's approve of it.
Regardless of your stance on abortion that kind of argument is ludicrous. Murder and rape have prohibitions against them...sooo...let's make it legal to murder and rape so that the frequency of occurrence declines.
Man....that is real rocket science.....
As for the abortion issue, I doubt whether anyone is going to change their minds from the current stance that they have. So...once again, we will have a media circus over things that will not be changed...one way or another, and nothing else will be brought up about this guy.
But....we will all be entertained...as the stomach churns...
Meanwhile, the world is headed for WW3, but...it won't affect us.

Samuel Alito will be confirmed. The Dems will hold a "show bashing" to look good to their loyal minions but that's about it.

Or maybe they'll drag the wind festival bashing out, then go on winter break until next year some time.
