I agree with Steel - a name change might be in order for the Black Holocaust Museum that's going broke. The current name is confusing.

I doubt it is a marketing issue. The only comment here now is mine. america and george bush don't care about black people. That is me doing my Kanye(SP)West. I think the museum is probably the last place that american black people and white people want to visit. White people hate that they have to defend racism from before they were alive, and black people experience racism every waking second, the last thing we need to do is go to a museum to document the inequality between ethnic groups in american history, we are living it, we do not need a refresher course!

I hate to say this, being located in my home town and all, but Milwaukee may not be the best location for a venue of this type. And the name IS unfortunate. There is still an unsavory undercurrent of racism poisoning the city........in my opinion, as a west coast uh, free thinker.
An example:
My mom and I went to visit a nature center built on an abandoned army training site, which took about 1 square mile and recreated a natural prairie. Beautiful hiking paths, micro wetlands and forests etc. right in the city. Next door was a big public housing project - good deal i thought, how convenient to have a park next door. Nicely kept, landscaped - looked like nice place to live by my standards..... I asked my mom about it. Her view (and she's "not" prejudiced) "Oh, that's a dangerous place, they had a shooting there 3 years ago."
Ok. Maybe I'm just jaded or used to violence, but to condemn this location (and it's residents by association) ad infinitum for an incident that could happen 'anywhere' at any time is just loopy. This is how it works, marginalizing the 'other' who just happen to be Black as violent. Anglos are reluctant to go there because of the 'neighborhood'. Grow up, I say.
Chicago might have been a better location, imo.
