Amid the fluff and flurry of MSM news, there are many stories we'll likely never get to hear - especially, perhaps, as regards Iraq. I thought I'd pull a few off of the CENTCOM site and share some with you.
Here are a couple terrorists and an IED you won't have to wait for the AP to tell you about because it went off near some of our girls and guys:
While conducting a combat patrol in north Baghdad, Task Force Baghdad Soldiers caught two roadside bombers in the act of placing an improvised explosive device Oct. 10. The patrol of 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division Soldiers immediately sealed off the area and captured both terrorists before they could trigger the bomb.
I can't believe what warmongers we Americans are ... imagine teaching children barely old enough to walk how to repel invasion!! From Plaque! heh! A photo gallery of some of our Nation's finest teaching Iraqi children dental hygiene here.
This made me feel good somehow and I haven't seen it in the news - sort of an Afghan version of West Point:
Cadets at the National Military Academy of Afghanistan started their second semester recently as 97students returned from mid-term break.
“We are much more prepared this semester,” said ANA Maj. Gen. Mohammad Sharif, the NMAA’s commanding general.
The academy, which is modeled after the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, made history when it opened its doors to the first class of Afghan National Army cadets in March 2005.
It wasn't all that long ago that the MSM was predicting a debacle of violence around the first Afghani elections. Nothing significant is easy, however, contrast what people were predicting then with what we're seeing now.
They said the same thing about Iraq's first elections. But America woke up to picture after picture of people with purple fingers - remember? I think I actually cried that day as I looked through them and saw how brave so many of them were - risking life and limb to participate in a wonderful thing like democracy - a thing I sometimes take too much for granted. It was a serious moment but the purple finger image I customized for myself as a postcard to the naysayers remains my favorite. See it here.
Don't forget you can check in at the Centom site from time to time if you're looking for some military news. Here's their most recent newsletter.
There's more voting going on in Iraq, again - let's wish them well.

Well, if you're pleased that American blood is being spilled in Iraq, so that Shiites can create a Theocracy that will be closely tied to Iran...
I guess you've got plenty to be pleased about.
