Sure to stoke up some opinions. What do you think of this guy for President? For some reason he has never set well with me. But I know many are big fans.

First, I will admit that I am not a Republican (not a Dem, either.) There are some things McCain says/does/stands for that I agree with, or at least respect. What I find much more troubling is the fact that I cannot get a clear read on where he is really coming from. Just about the time that I think I have come up with a relatively good idea of his political views, he does something that completely contradicts large parts of that picture. I don't pretend to be particularly polically savvy, but I can usually figure out the bottom line of a candidate's platform - not here.

McCain is a bit of a cypher. But whether you think he's principled and unprincipled, he certainly has a frightening view of free speech. On the other hand, our President signed that corrupt bill and our supreme court called it constitutional.
Hardly the guy to nominate good justices, which has suddenly become even more important than we thought.
