Great Pics. Thanks much for sharing. I love wildlife. Watched a huge grasshopper from my kitchen window the other day. He was eating leaves off a bush. It was really neat. :O)

Thanks for the pix of these magnificent birds. I have been priveleged to see bald eagles in the wild during the winter months here in Kansas, but have not had the opportunity to see any chicks. These great birds are HUGE, with wide wingspans. And when they fly, their wingbeat rate is distinctively s l o w. Thanks again.

I used to commercial fish in the Bering Sea. In Dutch Harbor Alaska ... bald eagles are so plentiful that they are a problem.
I used to work a small gold claim in Idaho. At lunch I'd sit on the side of a mountain and eat lunch. A mated pair of bald eagles were training their fledgling right in front of me.
I used to whistle at 'em and they would screech back.
We had some nice conversations that summer.
Every year in Tucson AZ, there's a get together of raptor hobbyists. It's at the Ghost Ranch Lodge. There you can see just how huge a bald eagle really is. There's one that comes every year with a crippled wing. That bird is 3 feet tall. At least.
It cannot fly anymore but it is still one bad bird. It's eyes will pierce your soul.
Bald eagles will catch fish from near the surface in lakes. You've seen the pictures.
What you don't know is that if that bird screws up and winds up in the water it will die.
Bald eagles can't take flight from water and will starve to death.
Every dive they make to snag a fish is a brush with death.
How's THAT for earning a livin'?

Funny that the same people who are so enthousiastic about these wild animals will be the exact ones to vote for drilling in protected areas, against more money for National Parks, against environmental protection rules, etc.
I really hope your children and grandchildren will be able to see these animals in the wild too, and not just from photos.

I have seen them in the wild in Montana. They are beautiful, but actual a little scary looking. They are huge!

Those are some swell photos of quality and a rareness. Being a bird(?) myself, I am all the more greatfull to you for having shared them.
As for some of my nutty comments from time to time...hey, I can occassionally carefully pet the backs of hummingbirds, and now and then Finches, when directed by the Feel-good-god will land on my shoulder. Nutty has its perks.
