LOL

What amazes me is the few posts on that site where these guys actually think it is funny. There are many that think this will only be used to "catch bad guys."

Right.

Mark the date you read this. They will continue to pass more and more restrictive laws, especially in regards to speech, and YOU just might be the next criminal. More laws--more criminals. Welcome to the land of the "free."

Good bye Bill of Rights.

Fine. Anyone who comes looking best bring a cat carrier and be prepared to take home no fewer than one of the bums we feed on the back deck.

Read something about this several years back. NSA was already "practicing" their trace, guess had to give it a patent to make this legal/part of the Patriot Act.

They can't make something legal that is clearly unconstitutional, even with a patent. I guess they think this fools most Americans.....and sadly, I think they are right about that.

Until the abominable "patriot" (gag) acts were passed, we had a fourth and fifth amendment. In 1943 the Supreme Court ruled that even governmnt could not violate them (or the other 8--although the civil war doomed the 10th) because they are natural laws, i.e. natural rights of ALL men.

Therefore either this group has come up with something that was hidden in our Constitution that makes this Nazi crap legal, or...they are just as I noted--Nazi's.

Another erosion of privacy, at the very least, and I agree with Alamo--"Good bye, Bill of Rights".

Dan....
You probably thought I was paranoid! When I sent you an email regarding "words" being flagged in emails and phone conversations, you thought I was kidding! Or, was hoping I was!

It's true....

BTW......all.

NSA has been able to find you on the internet for years...

Please....don't freak out!

Hello Iam Rosie......

Not sure what the discussion was earlier...just jumnping in....please correct me if I am wrong!

IMO....NSA, CIA, FBI......whatever agency wants to monitor my contacts is fine with me if it means I will be more secure!

If they want to bore themselves with my daily contacts.......go ahead!

Muirnin: Any govt. agency is welcome to bore themselves to tears with my daily contacts, too, but does this mean that I am more "secure"? I don't think so.

Well, of course, it does not mean that you are more secure....

BUT, if you happen to be engaging in matters regarding National Security..it could be a concern..to everyone.

I don't have a problem with the Gov. listening to my phone conversations.......they would be bored to death within 30 seconds.

If invading my phone conversations, my private life can somehow prevent another 9/11.....please all you Federal, State, Local, out of country authorities....monitor my phone lines and computer, live in my house.......whatever you have to do.

I don't want to relive 9/11 again....even if it means giving up some of my rights to privacy.

Big Brother aspects of living today include security cameras in stores (monitoring for theft, robbery, etc.) hotels and parking garages ("security"--just how does a camera protect me directly from a mugger?), speed and red-light-running cameras (tickets can be issued without a policeman as witness), telephone/cell phone surveillance capability (just who is listening?),
financial tracking through use of credit cards, debit cards, electronic banking (when will using cash! become illegal or highly suspect?),- - - . I can go on and on. The fact is that there is no real privacy anymore. We live with this, but should we totally accept and ignore it? Or do we trust the "authorities" to not misuse these tools?

this is not so much to giving up any privacy, but to police up cyber space, as they do in real time....artificial intelligences has been around for sometime, think savay internet do'ers are aware of this...

And more to come Rosie...good points.

This country got along fine for 200 years with the Bill of Rights intact. We fought BOTH the Germans and Japanese in WW2, and won. We handled the "cold war" reasonably, and some of you just want to chuck your rights away like they are nothing. Sorry, but I can think of only one word to describe that--disgusting.

For those of you say that it is okay if they spy on you, let me ask you this. What do you think those who have died in our wars have died for? Why do you think our country became great? Because of government spying on people, or government leaving them alone? It is an insult for you to just give up. An insult to the thousands who died, so that you could live life like you have.

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY does not mean you are a criminal. It protects you from being bamboozled like is fixing to happen....real soon. We have had criminals for all of time. They will be around for the rest of time. So you want to sacrifice your freedom for them?

I got news for you. The Bill of Rights is what made America great--NOT government spies or bureaucrats. I strongly suggest all of you that just gave up the rest of our rights along with yours to do some quick studying.
I strongly suggest you go study Germany 1933-1939. And in case you are too lazy to do so, let me tell you this. The "patriot" act and the Enabling Act (Germany's reaction to the Reichstag fire (the 9-11 of their time) are very, very, very similar. These actions that your government is taking are NOT to protect you. They are to control you. Why are our borders wide open if they are so concerned with us being "safe?"

The founders of this nation KNEW what they were
doing. Anyone wanting you to give up your rights is a criminal----period.

Support them if you want, but you will be sorry you allowed this--it is guaranteed by 4000 years of written history.

You are witnessing the overthrow of this country, piece by piece, and sadly they are getting away with using the exact same m.o. that has been done over, and over and over. Because you trust them. You got a big surprise coming.

I've been reading some comments about this on other sites. People are talking about shooting people and getting back at the government for this latest invasion of privacy. What is with all the frenetic paranoia? If you don't have anything to hide, what is the big deal? If you can't get past the privacy issue and the government minding your business, take a breath and look at it as just another side-effect of progress - something humanity will never stop. Progress always brings about some kind of moronic hysteria in the masses. This they're-out-to-get-us mentality is a bit puerile in an age when progress allows religious zealots the ability to level a city in three seconds a reality. Christ, people are so damned stupid. If your mindset cannot accomodate the new realities of progress, go back to Africa and find yourself a nice cave. Don't forget your cell phone that does a hundred different things. No guns, though. You have to make your own spear.

What some security agencies do, many will argue, since this type of action has been occurring for many yrs, as many are aware, its time the public is made aware by putting this out in MSM, therefore the public can be more accepting, this is small sh*t compare to what is coming with these tax cuts...you see the They can't make something legal that is clearly unconstitutional, even with a patent. I really want my country to be involved and take precautions. I salute those that sit there day after day and listen to our freakin' boring conversations....to perhaps avoid another event like 9/11.

Changing times ....goes along with growth, how do you suppose we change? Several of the powerful lawmakers are getting popped for fraud, etc, we need these policing agencies....

I'm guessing I'm about to get flamed.

Is this question for real? Since you aren't afraid to hide anything, why not post your bank account for all of us to see?
You either did not go to school, or you slept through history class. I know...it was boring. Well, your boredom will be ending soon because you are gonna wake up one day, and realize that people are people. Those who gave us this country knew all too well what governments can do to their own people. We are an enigma in all of time. There has been no nation like this before--nor will there ever be again. Why? Because of the respect for others' freedoms. And privacy is the main means of protecting what is yours.
You had better get unbored by history, because it is repeating itself right in front of your very eyes, and sadly, the day will come when you will wish you, and others like you would have been awake.
One quick question. What gives you the right to give up my rights?

I really want to know the answer to that one.

Now to your fear syndrome. 9-11 was a criminal act. We have all the laws in the world against criminals...has it stopped them? So tell me did we declare war on who? Terrorists? Who are they? A religion? How can you desinate a terrorist? By passing laws?

If the government wants to spy on someone there is a legal and correct procedure. They can easily get a court order and then do their spying.

What you are assenting to is just because they FEEL like it, they can do whatever the hell they want with NO oversight. But, hey, maybe they are all gods. Maybe 100% of the people who get into government automatically become angels and just do good deeds. They sure have their worshippers out there, so they must be gods. Get real.
I have some ocean front real estate I would like to show you right along the border at Del Rio, Texas. Come on down I am sure you would buy that too.

Ah, the old "paranoia" excuse to hide behind. Void minds always show themselves early.
Well Phoenix I'll tell ya! When I go outside and there is water falling from the sky, I usually go back inside because I think it is raining, but hey, maybe it is paranoia. You, of course sit out there and get soaked, and you just aren't sure if it is rain, or just your imagination. But you have no fear, because you are going to watch the 6:00 news and they will tell you whether it is rain or not.

You will do well in the coming times. A total void that chooses to throw out names like a 5 year old instead of playing like a big girl and discussing something factual....but then, you have to watch the tv to get your facts, don't you?

I really like this so I have to quote you on it:
"If your mindset cannot accomodate the new realities of progress," LMAO

Spoken just like Adolph would have said it. Yep, you will do well. Got your boots yet?

TheAlamo
For what it's worth, I agree with you ! Our "government" needs to be flushed down the commode, and start all over. They have been slowly invading our privacy for years. Not to mention all the other crap they have done .

Great news Dan!! Now maybe I can find the a..hole who keeps sending me a virus everytime I visit your site...its not Deepak and the PIMP boys is it? LOL

TheAlamo ...

...Void minds always show themselves early...

Hmmm ... I notice you started this thread.

Goodness, Alamo, you are fired-up about this. Yeah, I have my boots on.....need them to wade through your tenebrous predictions of the downfall of our great country because a new way to get information on criminals, terrorists, etc., has come about. Let me see.... I have to go slowly through your ramblings to keep things in order here: I am a 'void' because.... this is easier - I just cut & pasted some of your more salient points: "You will do well in the coming times. A total void that chooses to throw out names like a 5 year old instead of playing like a big girl and discussing something factual....but then, you have to watch the tv to get your facts, don't you?" Not quite sure I can address this properly, but I'll give it a shot. Yes, I will do well in the coming times. That is because I accept the realities we face today - as opposed to the realities faced by the framers of our great Constitution, who could not possibly have imagined planes flying into buildings, the Internet, nuclear disasters. I will do well because I accept that I must adjust to the demands of progress. "A total void..." ? Not so sure what you mean by this, but I am assuming, because you indicated no subject for that statement, that the subject is me - 'a total void'. Are you saying I do not exist? Is there an empty space in my cranium? Am I a vacuum in space that sucks in small particulate matter? '....that chooses to throw out names like a 5 year old.....' What names would those be, if you don't mind me asking? '.....instead of playing like a big girl and discussing something factual..' Hmmm. Well, for one thing, I'm not playing anything. What kind of facts are required to defend my statements? Cool stuff from the Constitution? Oh, wait... the cool facts from watching TV where I get all my facts. You are a presumptuous fellow, I must say; but that's what hysteria does to people. You have no idea who I am or where I get my 'facts' or how much education I have, or what I have studied. Yet you find it justifiable to insult me as a six-year-old might go 'nyah, nyah' to his buddy who doesn't agree with him on whose dad can stand on one foot longer while shaving. Ease off a bit.

Any study of history and its progress will show that the effects of progress always produce anxiety and fear in a large segment of the population - usually that segment which is uninformed. Sooner or later progress is assimilated and becomes just another 'part of life'. I'm bored now, but let me sum up what I think because this is becoming too philosphical: The only VOID I worry about is the void that might come about if this country suffers a nuclear attack from terrorists. If 'spying' on me helps keep that from happening, good. One last thing: It's a damn shame the framers of our Constitution were not clairvoyants.

I understand the other side's stance on this but I am w/Phoenix and Muirnin. I could care less if they monitor me. But truthfully, I think anone who thinks they are using this to listen to us average boring Americans is full of it. Anyone thinking they are being listened to must have something interesting or criminal going on to even think the agency is interested in or listening to them in my opinion. I just personally cannot imagine them listening to me calling in my football picks this weekend, talking to my daughters, my mom, my friends or anything else! For WHAT reason?

I get the loss of rights, loss of privacy argument but personally do not care.

That is because I accept the realities we face today - as opposed to the realities faced by the framers of our great Constitution, who could not possibly have imagined planes flying into buildings, the Internet, nuclear disasters. I will do well because I accept that I must adjust to the demands of progress.
The only VOID I worry about is the void that might come about if this country suffers a nuclear attack from terrorists. If 'spying' on me helps keep that from happening, good.

I guess there are those who are meant to follow.
Last time I checked, people working in government were people, not gods. The tendencies of all governments throughout all of time are to arbitrarily abuse their positions of power. Tbis why our government had checks and balances.

Those checks and balances are kept in place by laws. Based upon your statements, it is obvious that you expect you and I to obey the laws, but could care less whether the government does or not. You are a very dangerous person.

My allusion to your avoidance stands because you fail, once again to explain to me just HOW them spying on you or me WITHOUT PROPER DUE PROCESS is going to make us safer?

There are ALREADY systems in place for them to monitor the "terrorist" suspects. The only thing the abrogation of constitutional protections gives them is the right to invade anyone at any time with no excuse necessary. You just can't get it can you? And you wonder why I called you void? With the means to spy on terrorists ALREADY IN PLACE, then the only other use of these abominations is to watch YOU. You are a rocket scientist.

IF they are so concerned with safety why are the borders wide open? Surely you are adult enough to figure out that the "terrorists" will come across quite easily any time they want. But...I am sure their checking you out whenever they want will stop that as well.

Your paranoia about another 9-11 is what this, and previous governments with the same history feed on. You are the one who is paranoid. You are afraid of the mean old terrorists coming to get you. Hell, buy a gun and learn to use it.
Had any of the passengers on the 9-11 planes been carrying a weapon, we would not be having this conversation.

Had 3 people died in the plance hijackings instead of 3000 you would not be shivering in fear, and crying out for someone to help you. That magnitude of the situation has caused your overreaction to this crime. Otherwise, it would have been just another hijacking, and you would have ignored it.

Bad news. These "terrorists" are after what? Our money? Our land?
NO. They are after what we represent(ed). If they can eliminate the ONLY thing that made America different by legislation, then who wins? If you give up your freedom to "save" your freedom who wins?

You go on and rant about how afraid you are, and that you want to be safe. That is YOUR job, not mine, or the government's. Get a gun, learn to use it. You see, YOUR fear, is not my responsibility. You do not have the right to abrogate my rights just because you are too weak to face the realities of todays time. Instead you would sacrifice the many for the few of you who have to live in the fear syndrome you created for yourselves after 9-11.

Got some bad news for you. They can pass all the laws they want. They can take away the whole damned Bill of Rights--and it is damned because weak people such as yourself have damned it--and if these mean ole terrorists you are so afraid of decide tomorrow to go out and kill some people---then that is what they will do. Wide open borders is the greatest act of "terrorism" going on---and your response is....oh well, that doesn't matter. And we have our rights placed in people like you?

Move to Russia where you belong.

I agree with you 100%, Alamo.

"Hell, buy a gun and learn how to use it."

HA HA HA. What a cool idea! Dang. Why didn't I think of that?? That will be a great help in a nice nuclear attack.

As for you, Mr. Alamo, and your gifted ventriloquism for putting words, thoughts, ideas in my mind that I didn't know were there, up your lithium dose.

Posted by: Phoenix | Sep 24, 2005 12:59:59 PM

Just as I expected, you just seem to totally "forget" the REAL questions. Since you are obviously learning and reading impaired, let me phrase it again for you so that you can understand.

(Answer each question before going on to the next one---that is, if you can. If not, then I guess we see the obvious)
Number 1
WHY are our borders wide open?

There are ALREADY mechanisms in place to monitor terrorists. (did you get that this time?)
ALL that is needed is a court order to monitor these bad guys you fear so much. Do you understand this? So....
Number 2
Since they ALREADY HAVE the mechanisms to monitor these "terrorists" then WHO is left to monitor?

Number 3
Nuclear attack has been a reality for 40 years, how come our Constitution worked then, but not now?
Oh..."terrorism" is a NEW deal right? got news for you, guerrilla type "terrorism" is the oldest form of war out there.

Number 4
Have you seen many people lugging around nuclear devices to cause such fear? Oh, but they MIGHT. Right.

Hell, let's just all turn in our guns, give them all of our money, do what we're told--and we can now be "safe."

Now, I have tried to make this where someone on your level can understand the questions. Please be a good girl now and see if you can pass the test.

If not well..........I think it's obvious, isn't it?

What is this a Power-Play, Geeezz, "Get real" .... personal attacks, is this how we are to inform the public, how stupid! Knowledge is empowerment, but to solicit with arrogance, detracts from its purpose to make this a better place to learn .... So get real or move on and make you own blog to trash...

It might be a good idea to read things first...then spread around your criticism. When personally attacked I will respond. If I just happen to rile someone--they'll get over it. If not, then they shouldn't have BEGUN with the insults in the FIRST place. It is not my fault that I am better at it than they are.

It is not nice to take one sentence out of context. Put it in context.

My point is, that when someone comes in acting like an a___ then they will receive what they give. And, in the end, they will never answer the real questions....they never do. So it would be best to place your ire on the instigator of the actions rather than those trying to provide information...which if you care to look....you will see. One of us provided facts. The other provided fear, innuendo...with the usual slurs, but...no facts.
Sorry, but the rest of us do not want our future to depend upon whether someone else doesn't care if they are infringed upon. Most sane people do.

Save it for those who need it.

You both made some good points inbetween;)
Phoenix is realistic Alamo, which is not dangerous thinking, laws of course are changed to accommodate growth. Yes, checks and balances are used to obstruct abuse in power. As Sen Specter stands before 9/11 committee and gets Pentagon approval for Able Danger witness's to testify. We have House committees policing other Depts, there are many outside organization out there,(ACLU), Michael Moore/Alex Jones types, to police abusive policies violating Constitutional Rights. I feel comfortable not having to carry any type of weapon around, but not please with being searched (5)times before getting on a plane, (paying cash for your fare, this type of search can happen)...I love my country and will fight abusive polices/authority, as many Representives are doing, do research on people before you vote, ensuring they are qualified and willing to uphold our Constitution...again, hats off to Sen Specter;)

Alamo.....sorry to be late on the response, hope you see this.

Yes, my question was for real. What is the NSA going to do with my bank account number? Nothing. I'm a little more worried about terrorist types getting ahold of personal info. So, if NSA wants to listen to my boring phone conversations...and have my bank account number, credit card number, whatever. They can have it. They have much more important things to do though....like monitoring emails and phone calls regarding terrorizing this country. If in the course of looking for threats to the US, they happen to listen to a phone call, or read one of my emails, I don't care.

Really though.....if you think this is "new" that our emails and calls are monitored, perhaps it is you that didn't go to school.....

BTW, I did go to school. But, I must admit, I slept through many history classes. They were boring. Although they make for a well rounded education...IMO.....a history class will not prepare you for the events of today.

If 'spying' on me helps keep that from happening, good.

Posted by: Phoenix | Sep 24, 2005 10:54:15 AM

Yay Phoenix!!!!!

And so...just as I said. Opinion, but nothing in answer to the direct questions I asked. Hmmmmmm

Talk about paranoia? We "might" have another 9-11, so let's all be good and give up our Constitution. Yeah, it just makes so much sense.....
The supposed "terrorists" are trying to take our freedom, so let's just give it away so they will leave us alone. Yeah, heck, totally sensible....

We "might" have a meteor hit where we live, so we better move. We "might" have a car wreck, so we better quit driving. We "might" die in an airplane crash, so let's ground the airplanes. We "might" get murdered if we venture out of the home, so, better not. I guess fear is the most powerful force on the planet.

I will state this again for the dense.
They ALREADY have the power to track terrorists, so just why do you think they want to track you?

Because you "might" be a terrorist? God help us.
The public school system has done a whale of a job.

As an addendum, in 1962, the communist premier Nikita Kruschev, pounded his shoe on the podium at the United Nations and made this statement about
America. I quote him: "We will bury you. We will not have to conquer you militarily...you will vote it (communism) into office." Guess the guy was a prophet as well.

"I guess fear is the most powerful force on the planet."

Wrong. Maternal instinct is the most powerful force on the planet.

Well, Phoenix, judging by the way you so adroitly answered each question I asked you about above, it is a good idea that you concentrate on that particular area (maternal things) of life. You just might be good at it.

Why thank you, Mr. Alamo. I have been an extraordinary mother. I am also excellent at adroitly answering rhetorical ramblings. Now, if you have a direct question you would like to pose to ME and not to the need you have to flout the opposing opinions of others here and there, please do so, and I will answer you.

Here, I just copied them from above to make it easier on you.

Right.

Mr. Alamo,

Three of your 'questions' are rhetorical and require no answer. Number one is a direct question: Our borders are open because our politicians are too concerned with votes and political correctness to close them.

You could lose the attitude, you know. I don't give a rat's ass if you get off on sarcasm, but if you want to be taken seriously, tone it down a bit.

Just what I expected. Nothing new here.

Except that I won. I asked you to ask me a 'direct' question. Of the four 'questions' you posed, one was direct. I answered it. The other three were rhetorical. Here ya go: "b : employed for rhetorical effect; especially : asked merely for effect with no answer expected " '.....with no answer expected' Nice, though, that you got what you expected, eh?

You won?

Didn't realize it was contest. What did you win? Did you get a prize, or money?

The only thing I can see that you "won" is not having to embarass yourself, by coming up with a response. Well....okay, you win!

Who lost? I lost nothing, but maybe someone else did.

Who else lost? Anyone who reads this series of posts and was denied your input because you either do not know the answers, or are not even capable of coming up with an hypothesis about them. If you had a viable answer, then someone else could have learned from you....but, we know, don't we?

So, I guess your gain was their loss.

Don't spend all that prize money in one place!

I won you actually responding to my last post. ha ha ha.
