Or is it. I have heard Steve Malzberg on the radio occasionally and enjoyed him enough to actually click through a link to read a column he has up at NewsMax. In some ways, I wish I hadn't. Here are some snippets from his column I'll link below. He was discussing the Bill Maher Show. I knew I didn't care for that guy, but geesh!
I can understand maybe not allowing some younger teens to watch cable TV. But do they have to allow them to have shows on it? Read down ... it gets worse.
On Friday's show, Bill Maher compared Laura Bush to Hitler's dog and the president to Hitler. Of course, this occurred only after Maher showed his viewers phony pictures which he said indicate that President Bush is drinking again.
One picture showed Mr. Bush's face with the words "pussy" and "pussy lightweight" written over it with a marker.
Yet another "photo" designed to show that the president may be drinking again showed first lady Laura Bush with a black eye and a bandage above her eyebrow. (A week earlier on the same show, the lovely and talented Joy Behar of "The View" said that George Bush is like a guy who beats the sh** out of his wife and then shows up with a flower to say he's sorry.)
After the photo display, the host was taken to task by guest Christopher Hitchens, who decided he was going to make an attempt to defend the president: "It must be to his credit he got Laura Bush to marry him. She's an absolutely extraordinary woman." But Hitchens was interrupted by Maher who blurted out: "Oh, come on. That's like Hitler's dog loved him. That is the silliest reason. ..."
"Governor Bush, and I call him that because it's really the last thing he was elected to ... when he reaches his Christian heaven I think he will have a lot to answer for." As for the president's mother, Carlin told Maher, "The silver douche bag I call her."
In bringing up the subject of Barbara Bush and some controversial comments she made about the Katrina refugees who had made their way to Texas, Maher, referring to the president, announced, "The moron doesn't fall too far from the tree."
"Our president is a tragic figure, perhaps, but he doesn't know diddlysquat about economics, history or science, even how to speak well." And Kurt did his best to make Al Gore proud. "We are killing the planet as a life support system. We may have gone so far already that there's no recovery from it. The game may be over. ... I think the earth's immune system is trying to get rid of us. And it's high time they did. We are a disease on the face of this planet ... it's time we got out of here. We are a disease on the planet, and I think we ought to become syphilis with a conscience and stop reproducing."
That's entertainment, alright. Sad. Full Column here.

I totally agree Maher was out of line and unprofessional. But Bush IS a dumbass.

What's "sad" is editorializing on an editorial when you didn't watch the show. What's worse, this takes out of context and mixes two shows.
Hitchens didn't defend *Bush* per se...he did defend his policy in the ME however.
It was a very thought provoking...and some would say entertaining as well...episode - FOR THOSE WHO WATCHED IT.
Thank Shiva for Bill Maher who can dish out more than the other side can take.

lol, you people.
Maher is not ONLY a genius, but he is a COMEDIAN, even the ultra libs know he is joking.
He may be liberal, but he is funny as all hell.
And the show is listed as a comedy.

Bill, enjoy your 15. Five years from now your type of humor will no longer be appealing. Look at Dennis Miller. He's doing phone commercials.

Who's this "we"? The speaker and his ilk?

I'll pay for his ticket. Which level of hell does he want to go to?

LOL, well you are uptight.
Bet you laughed when people were making fun of Clinton during his administration.
I did, and I liked Clinton.
Even my parents, die hard right wing conservative Christian right think he is hysterical.

I admire "my" President !
You can think what you want to about him, I could care less.
From the first day he took office and even before has been one of the tuffest jobs of any one man ever. Look at all the things that have happened since he took office and he sure as hell did not create or do any of it. He is not God.
He has endured more than anyone I can think of in history. I commend him for doing all he has done thus far. He is a very smart man !
If any of you think you can do or could do a better job then get of your duff and run for office yourself. Tell us how you would have done things any damn better than he has.
God bless our soldiers all over the world, God bless our President and God bless America !!

I definitely do not think that I am smart enough to be president, but I definitely know that I would have at least hired people with the smarts and experience to the job that I couldn't do. " !" wanted to know how I would have done things better as president and I think any high school graduate could have found a better candidate than Michael Brown as the head of FEMA. The list goes on and on.... He surely wasn't looking out for the American people with that decision.
