h/t to Missing & Abducted Blog here.
Fawley said he was put into a vehicle and driven to an unknown area, where he was "pushed out . . . onto a dirt road," the report said. He was unable to provide more specific information about the attack, and the officer who took the information wrote in the report that he was able to determine that Fawley "should be on medication for bipolar disorder and . . . was intoxicated" before the alleged abduction and robbery.
"It is my belief that the victim was attacked, but due to his mental state, getting any other relevant information is going to prove to be very difficult," the officer wrote.
A few things to add to Missing & Abducted post linked above and below:
Obviously Fawley was out of it for the policeman to state what he did. Furthermore, it would be interesting to note why the policeman believed he had been attacked. Keeping in mind that Fawley wasn't linked to the disappearance of Taylor Behl at the time, any marks, scratches or bruising he may have had - and I don't know that he did - but, if so, they may have helped foster the policeman's conclusion that he was indeed attacked.
However, it seems logical to conclude that any potential marks, scratches, bruises, etc. could have just as easily resulted from a struggle of any kind - including an assault he and not someone else initiated.
As Missing & Abducted points out, he does have a record for a previous assault. I have seen the police record myself and the charge was actually assault and battery prior to being dismissed. There is a distinct difference between one charge and the other.

"However, it seems logical to conclude that any potential marks, scratches, bruises, etc. could have just as easily resulted from a struggle of any kind - including an assault he and not someone else initiated"
Dan - What you said makes more sense than Fawley being attacked. It's just a little too coincidental for Fawley to be attacked at the same time as Taylor goes missing (IMHO, of course).

I have been following this case for a week now. spending countless hours on the internet peering into these lives, or life, ben fawley's. I feel like my capacity to hold anymore of this person has long since expired. It seems like so many have forgotten that a girl is missing and possibly dead. who done it? we all want to know. I feel that this case has gotten some unfair attention in the press, dan holmberg refering to her as MWG, missing white girl. In his article he dicusses a missing young african american girl in richmond who hasn't gotten the same attention. After reading his article it seems clear that the MBG isn't really missing, but involved in a life of possibly crack and prostitution. I think if the MBG family had the money and connections to make the dissapearance more public they would. I do not think race is the only issue here, I think money has everything to do with it. I used to live in richmond. I lived on the "transvestite prostitue corner" of allen and broad. in one weekend my apartment was robbed and I was mugged in my apartment (2 seperate incidences) the mugger wanted to rape me, he actually asked me to come with him so that he could. Richmond is a town that is still heavily divided between black and white. the other thing is money. all the money on the west end with all the white people and all the black people on the east end without. VCU sits right in the middle of this wild wild west town, behind broad street is not a safe neighborhood, even grace street is bad. when I was a freshman at vcu, just two blocks from the dorm was the red light inn, a strip bar. it closed down that year. vcu is trying to wrangle this outlaw town but it is hard work. a long road ahead for the former capital of the confederacy.

Urban,
You raise many concerns in your post. I understand your frustrations. It does seem unequal the attention MWG VS MBG (if you allow me use of those abbreviations). I think the mass media has been trying to improve their coverage of all missing women. Nancy Grace is following the disappearance of a beautiful 19y/o African American woman several weeks ago, whose body has recently been found in Apalachicola, Florida. I can only hope people like NG continue to follow up in finding justice for this woman's senseless murder. I don't have the answers for this seemingly unfair attention towards missing white woman, but I do understand your frustration. I can tell you, Nancy cared, she was full of emotion reporting about this missing woman and again when her body was found. I had shed tears while watching Nancy's report. Many people do care and we agree more needs to be done for all missing people, no matter their race or financial means.

Urban,
When was the last time you were in Richmond? There has been an incredible amount of urban revitalization and many former questionable areas has been revitalized and are upscale areas. Of course, there is still crime, but the VCU area is no badlands. The Fan is such an upscale area, houses sell for millions of dollars. Grace street has been cleaned up, north of Broad has a new shopping center with a Krogers, Lowes, coffee and sandwich shops. The area has really improved and Richmond's crime rate has gone down dramatically. Whatever happened to Taylor happened because of who she knew, not because of what neighborhood she was in.

I think it is a very wellcome coincidence that he is 'again' attacked. I read his blogs too and I read at one time that he was abducted, put a plastic bag over the head, pushed in a car by four people and driven to a dirt road where they pushed him out of the car without hurting or robbing him. He wrote that he was sure his ex-girlfriend (the porn model who he ows money to) had something to do with it because like he wrote, she is harrassing me and making my live miserable every way she can SO isn't this a bit strange that when Taylor vanished, the morning after he has exactly or allmost identicall the same thing going on then a few months back?? Allso abducted, thrown out of a car without hurting him or robbing him??? Come on this guy is lying! It's just a good coincidence that this happened way back so now he can make profit out of that story by saying this happened again. I don't believe it for a minute but hey everything is possible and maybe if we go from here, then we can assume maybe the ex is involved in Taylor's dissapearance too, she saw her leave, abducted her (or the four assailants) to get Ben into trouble or something. This will be solved I am sure of it, just waiting till someone dropps the ball!
I'm praying for Taylor and hope she is allright somewhere although I doubt it.

They should keep sniffing there. I smell a fish in that story.

While I don't believe a word of what this guy is dishing out either and find it weird that he was "attacked" the same day/time frame, I'd love to know how the police officer who took his statement determined that an intoxicated person was also bipolar? HMMMM! Were any samples taken, pictures?
Posted by: jdkt18 | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 11:25 AM
I think the guy admitted that he was bipolar and hadn't taken his medication to the officer when he was giving his statement.

Another Missing Girl
Sep 23, 2005, 07:27 AM EDT Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version
8News has learned Richmond Police are now working a second missing person case involving a teenage girl. Police tell 8News Monica Rose Sharp disappeared Sunday.
Poster with the 17-year-old's picture are plastered in the city's Museum District where she was last seen walking her dog. The dog came home, Monica did not.
If you have any information, you are asked to call Richmond Police.
Posted by: terry | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 11:30 AM
The flyer says the police believe the girl met someone she met on the internet. I believe that is the only connection between the two, that they were to some degree, both seduced over the internet.

Cosmic mojo-
I moved away from richmond one month ago. the apartment that I was mugged in was right across the street from the lowes. you are wrong wrong wrong. true, the area has changed a lot in the last ten years, but it is certianly not as safe as you claim. broad street and grace are still a haven for vagrants, prostitutes, crackheads and drunks. I was not suggesting that taylor's dissapearance had anything to do with the area surrounding, most crime that is commited there is robbery/muggings and rape. speaking of rape, a friend of mine was living on the 1600 block or grace street three years ago when someone broke into her apartment and stabbed her in the chest with her own kitchen knife. what do you make of that? Lowes hasn't stopped that. oh and someone was STABBED in that lowes this summer. what are you talking about? yes a lot of homes in the fan are million dollar homes, but that doesn't mean a thing. look at grace street, 1700 block. yes, 300k+ homes but also a home or two for mentally disabled adult drug addicts. and these very drug addicts were involved in the incident in my apartment last summer.

I believe that the guy who was tracked by the dog played the part of getting rid of Taylor. But first of all the Skulz abduction story is complete BS, which leads me to believe that he may have actually did the harm to Taylor. So I think that the guy tracked by the dog had taken Taylor somewhere dead or alive (if it was on her own will) dropped her off then came back to Richmond b/c he had to (ie he lives there). Because if you knew anything about Richmond you know that the Boulevard Exit is one of the main arteries to the city of Richmond. The person driving is pressed for time takes the Boulevard Exit, doesnt want to park the car on Broad Street b/c it is busy and would be exposed quicker. So the first intersecting street you come to after Broad is Monument, which another heavily traveled road (but the driver doesnt care b/c his is freaking out by this point wanting to ditch the car ASAP). So the next immediate street to turn on is Mulberry where the car is abandoned. The driver (probably the scented person) makes his way to a relatives house and not his own to maybe throw anybody off that may have seen him or smelled him (ie the blood hound). Either this person or another person involved breaks into the uncles and mothers house to get rid of hidden evidence. I can't remember excatly what the scented guys alibi was but he could have did this when people may have thought he was asleep. The only question I have is how Skulz and the scented guy might be related.
Given the fact of where the car was ditched would suggest that Taylor (dead or alive) would be somewhere north of Richmond, since the Boulevard exit is the first one off of I-95 to enter the city when you are coming from the North. So a possible distance could be determined by a time gap in the scented guys alibi (possibly when he was presumed to be asleep.
I am interested by this case since I live in Richmond so please let me know what you think.

Tim78--I think you've got something! Especially your geographic theory about driving from the north and taking the Boulevard exit: if one followed the path of least resistance, it is very likely you'd end up on Mulberry. Smart stuff! And I think you're right about the involvement of the 2nd guy; maybe he helped the 1st.
I know there are crinme problems, but they are everywhere! The last lurid stabbing we had was in a wealthy exclusive neighborhood near Windsor Farms! and like most stabbings, even those in poorer neighborhoods, it was between family members. I just think people from out of town read these descriptions and get a picture of Beruit or Watts after the riots, or Belfast! and it just isn't so. One has to be careful everywhere. Stabblings, rapes, robberties occur everywhere, sadly.
Posted by: cosmicMojo | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 01:24 PM
which side of the street was the car found on? That could 99% indicate which way it come from. Does anyone know?
Posted by: cosmicMojo | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 01:51 PM
There could have numerous ways to leave the city to dump a body. Pedo Ben lives near closer to the Belvidere exit and could have headed south or north. There is also the downtown expressway which has tolls and possibly cameras at those tolls. There is also the James River which is only blocks away from VCU which could be prime dumping location. Hopefully the RPD has thoroughly searched Belle Isle (blocks away from Ben and Taylor) and other spots along the river.
I think if the news around here gave this situation more than 5 minutes of coverage per day and maybe asked people in the city and surrounding counties to just check thier property, we could possibly find some more clues. Also, the RPD shouldn't wait so long after they get a lead to make it public so things are still fresh in peoples mind.
Posted by: inrichmond | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 02:22 PM
inrichmond, you bring up a good point. We all should check garages, sheds, etc.
Yeah, all those places are there, but do they make sense logically, in relation to where the car was found?
I saw posters very early in the week, so I know VCU responded quickly. And I read the FBI was called in before the end of the week--that's pretty hot, I can tell you most crime victims don't get that degree of response.
Posted by: cosmicMojo | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 02:38 PM
Well if you are on Monument heading east then you take a right on to Mulberry, that is where the car was found. I was actually riding my bike past the site when everybody was on scene, but I didnt actually see the car so I dont know exactly which side of the street it was on. But it did seem like it was very close to the intersection of Monument.
Posted by: tim78 | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 02:40 PM
oh wait, Mulberry is one way south-bound, right? So that supports the theory of coming from the north.
oh, darn. I don't think you can turn left off south-bound Boulevard onto Monument. Ok, I guess if you just abducted someone, breaking a "no left turn" traffic rule is nothing. Especially for someone with so many traffic enfractions.

Here is my theory of what happened. Ben and Taylor agreed to go out and have a photo shoot. Taylor goes out to eat with her new boy friend then meets up with ben after going back to the dorm to grab some stuff. either she skates over to ben's house or ben is there to pick her up in her car. they go to do the shoot, maybe on belle island, byrd park, or an abandoned building somewhere. then something goes wrong. maybe he makes a move on her and she refuses and he hurts her. Or maybe he planned it all along because she found a new boyfriend and got jealous. he then takes the body somewhere to dump it or he could have just dumped where they were because it might have been secluded enough. he also dumps the camera and other equipment. he drives back to the fan and parks the car. he either goes back to his house to get the plates he had stolen a while back or he had them already. he then proceeds to walk back to his house and realizes it's getting light out and people can see him so makes some lame story that he was out taking pictures and gets abducted. where he says he gets abducted is almost in between his house and where the car was found.
he's probably kicking himself in the ass for making up that lame abduction story.
Posted by: inrichmond | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 03:30 PM
yeah, inrichmond, that's the gist of it I think. Except it was dark at 10:30pm, so I don't think it was a photo shoot (can't see them lugging heavey lights if they were walking). And I think the police think the same thing and are just now working to get physical evidence or get a confession out of the perp.
Posted by: cosmicMojo | Friday, September 23, 2005 at 03:34 PM
i wish they had the block that skulz says he was abducted by. i seriously think its 2-3 blocks from my apt. (i live near patterson and franklin, couple blocks west of boulevard).
richmond does have a high crime rate, and i do know friends that have been mugged or had their places robbed, but this abduction story is wild. i have never felt in danger and i have lived in the city for 5 years. i use to walk past the transvestitutes all the time by myself at 3:00am on Grace St. and never once felt threatened.
even if skulz claims he didnt know where he got dropped off he could at least decide what direction in realtion to his apt it was if he returned there. the city is basically a grid.

Sleuth's,
Wonderful work, just amazing! Though I don't feel that Ben/Skulz possesses the where with all to commit murder, however, this certainly is not to suggest that he may have had something to do with Taylor's gone missing.
The RPD and other agencies constantly make mention of "...another piece of a much larger puzzle..."
If you will contemplate the following we may be able to really assist here.
1) Greta van Susteren states that Taylor met up with some "friends" for dinner at the Village Cafe, I believe Jake, her new beau, was one of them, as well as Jesse Schultz aka “the nephew” and possibly Ben. I believe that Taylor met Jake at the Village Café. I know that Jesse works at the Village Café.
2) Taylor had to borrow a skateboard from Ben in order to skate with the others. I feel that at 10:20pm or thereabouts Taylor went to Ben’s to pick one up.
3) Ben walks Taylor back to her dorm room and she goes from there to hook up with others to skate. (Big issue!)
4) The Ohio plates could have been at Ben’s and for all we know, he also may have stolen them or maybe not.
5) Just one more thing, Chess, a very gifted bloodhound traced an additional scent in Taylor’s car to Jesse Schultz’s place. He works at the Village Café and although the residence was that of his Aunt and Uncle he did leave one of his work shirts there. Now was Chess picking up the scent of the shirt or of Jesse or both?
Inrichmond your scenario brings a lot of logic into this otherwise displace story. I also admire how you have used foresight and hypotheticals to suggest some communication may have gone on while Taylor was on her way back to Richmond from Vienna.
CosmicMojo, your insight into the notion of a photo shoot are nothing shy of brilliant! Who needs to carry lights and whatever for a night shoots? Good point. But what if the shoot was during the hours between 6:00pm and 8:00pm? No lights necessary.
Please consider guys, especially with Items 2 and 3 above. Fundamentally there is an alibi issue here from Ben. He states through his attorney that the dorms should have a video record of he and Taylor when he walked her back to her dorm. Shady at best.
Who would walk back at say, 10:40pm – 11:00pm when Taylor’s car was right there? I suggest that Ben drove her—not to her dorm but perhaps Jake’s place or the VC or to Jesse’s place. Chess also picked up scents from Jesse’s residence. He later got busted on the possession charge.
Sorry for the length of this post—Dan and fellow Sleuth’s—buy I have a brainstorm and I have got to mind dump. Thanks for reading. I still have a good 75% of me that hopes she’s alive, and I believe she is still alive. Hope and a little denial.

I think Ben's story of his abduction and dumping on a country road is a cover-up for the time when the FBI find country road dirt on his shoes and clothing from where he dumped or buried Taylor. The car tires could also have that same dirt evidence and when they find Taylor, they will know he was there by comparing dirt samples to the area where they find her.
Posted by: sue | Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 08:42 PM
Has anyone noticed that no one has logged into Taylor's AKA Bitter's Myspace page since September 4th. I would think that would be the first place to check with whom shes been talking to. Let's hope there is Ben's fingerprints on the Ohio license plates, then we can beat the truth out of him and bury her body.
Killer or not, that dude is creeeeeepppyy! Definitely sounds like a sociopath.

"during the hours between 6:00pm and 8:00pm? No lights necessary"
It starts getting dusky before 7 right now here. For a camera, you'd need lighting before that.
Another important thing to consider is that the dorm is in the middle of a very urban area where parking spaces--much less free-- are very hard to find. Most people would definitely walk more than a few blocks rather than take the car and lose a good parking space.
