This just keeps getting more and more interesting, with seemingly few answers.
A law-enforcement source familiar with the case said the plate may have been in the possession of Ben Fawley, a 38-year-old amateur photographer and acquaintance of Behl's who was one of the last people to see her.

Does anyone else feel that they are hoping that just maybe this will be enough bait to attract more persons of interest?

>>Does anyone else feel that they are hoping that just maybe this will be enough bait to attract more persons of interest?
what do you mean?
Posted by: blues | Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 12:37 PM
So if the liscence plate is now linked to him then why is he no longer a "person of interest"??
Posted by: BK | Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 01:23 PM
BK, Ben still IS a person of interest. The Associated Press story got it wrong. See the story in Thursday's Richmond Times-Dispatch, which states that Ben is still part of the investigation: http://www.timesdispatch.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RTD%2FMGArticle%2FRTD_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1031785347331.

Does anyone get the feeling that maybe Taylor left on her own accord?? Just curious? I'm not saying she did, just curious to what others may think about it??
Posted by: graced | Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 02:28 PM
Thanks Write_Now, that makes more sense now--I couldn't figure out how they could say he wasn't a person of interest but he may be connected to the liscence plat.

The RPD is not concerned with Taylor, she was/is a freak, who got herself into some SH**!
RPD is happy with Ben locked up in city. If they were concerned with the case they would have found Taylor by now. That troll that "dated" Fawley before he became city property, said that the cops got too tired to finish the walk to a Fawley hangout near the river.

Dan or anyone else...
Can anyone tell me how,
"License Plate May Be Linked To Fawley?"
Posted by: AkekoaHoAlethia | Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 03:41 PM
AkekoaHoAlethia, Do you mean the grn erth plate? The police have not said how the plate is related to the case, or why this plate came into play so late. I am going to see what I can find, but as you can tell, our local media is all puppy dogs, and weather.
Posted by: w | Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 04:05 PM
In response to AkekoaHoAlethia,
Maybe someone remembers seeing it in his stash of plates that he stole. This guy knows something and if I were the police I would BS him to death.
As a mother I would like to know if her parents have talked with a pshycic. The ones on Court TV are awesome.
I would try anything at this point. Anyone out there know a GOOD one?

So I guess we can now definitively state they took more than computers and camera equipment. Thanks bull for that info.

Graced - You know, the same thought ran (fleetingly) through my mind that maybe she took off on her own, but then, why? She was just starting college and therefore, already away from home, so what would she be running from? I could see that if she were trying to disappear, she'd enlist Fawley to steal some plates and possibly a car for her to make a getaway, (thus making good on an earlier post I read somewhere else about her "getting something highly illegal for her birthday") but I just can't come up with a reason why, so I'm apt to discount her running away. Either way, Fawley's gotta be into this thing up to his eyeballs.

What I meant by the benefit concert "attracting more persons of interest," is that in the event that they are not completely convinced that Ben acted alone, staging a benefit concert, ceremony, vigil, memorial, ect, is a time tested and proven method of attracting anyone responsible for whatever has happened to Taylor.
It's similar to how a killer may try to interject themselves into a investigation. Something like a benefit concert provides a low-risk high reward for the person who wants to get close enough to Taylor's family and friends...to see what they have done, up close and personal.
The one important thing to understand about this approach is that it's far more likely to work if this is an abduction by either a complete stranger or someone few people in Taylor's life knew.
After reading the warrant:
I'm not going to persecute Ben for being into fetish/kink, but to think that he was engaging in this stuff with an underage girl(s) is unsettling. I'm sure they will find tons of DNA to work with, judging by the items collected. I just hope that the reddish-brown stain from the box spring has something to do with the tampon wrappers.

As for her just disappearing of her own accord . . . She took with her: keys; cell phone; and ID. I guess if she had used the cell the police would know. If she had a bank card and had used it, I guess the police would know.
If she's dead and there is no body and there is no crime scene, if Fawley is guilty, he walks away from murder. People don't get convicted of murder without a body unless there is so much blood at the scene that it is obvious the victim could not survive. There isn't even a crime scene yet, is there?

What's up with the box of bones? And all the weaponry..hatchet, machete, hammer...? I'm hoping that Ben Fawley is just a little odd and that Taylor is still alive somewhere. Something just keeps making me think that he did do something wrong to her because his story just doesn't make sense. I also can't forget people like Dahmer, Bundy, and Durst. Why was he "abducted" the same day Taylor was last seen? Why did he tell the police that he had sex with Taylor the night she went missing? If only to cover his own ass, his own DNA, his own footprints at the scene of the crime. This is definitely a big puzzle with missing pieces.
I also think that Taylor is naive, who wasn't at 17? I think she's far from a "freak" as somebody recently posted about her. From what her friends have said, she was trying to distance herself from Ben. A lot of weirdos live in Richmond, it's a very artsy one-horse town. From what I gather about Taylor, she is also a very deep and thoughtful girl. She probably saw Ben as an artist, a fellow deep person like herself. She probably knew he was a little off, as did his ex-roommates, and was trying to remain friends without any benefits. Who knows? I just hope deep down inside that he or someone has her stashed away somewhere, alive. He knows Richmond pretty well I take it, (he did walk around at all hours of the night taking pictures, correct?) and being from there myself I know there are plenty of old, abandoned, dilapidated houses, basements, and apartments to hold somebody in. There is also an extensive woodsy, leafy brush area outside of Richmond around the James River. My imagination may be running away with me, but there is definitely an odd, creepy aura surrounding this case. Let's not forget that Ben Fawley is being held with no bond, and his lawyer dropped the case.

Why doesn't her mom go to a psychic like Noreen Renier? I would be willing to try anything to find Taylor, no matter how much of a skeptic I was.

I also am from here and I don't think she'll turn up soon. As for the river walk and the info from the "troll" he used to date, the police probably did not get too tired to check it out. The police may have thought HE would have been to tired to walk it.
Every artist I've known has had bones or other interesting items, props. Bones & skulls (usually animal) are often studied in studio classes. Hell, there is often a complete skeleton around an art studio (where classes are given). Every artist studies a little anatonmy. Bones and artist, just not that strange a combination. Good photo props. It's just one of those things.
Where was HE from? How long had he been here? Does anyone know the details of the two previous assaults? Where they took place? Was it a punch? Or shoving, as against walls? Was it out of rage? Or rough sex "play"? Anyone here know anything about that?
I've got two hammers. I've got saws. It's just part of life, you get older, you get a hammer.
But I that he sure looks guity, doesn't he?

Dude, Ben walked everywhere, he had sex with kids, I think he could walk the river. He posted in his journal about having sex with his girls in the woods, and at the river, he can handle a stroll.
Posted by: w | Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 11:12 PM
Jason, one charge is about an arugment that Ben had with an ex at a fetish shop, that burned down the same night as the agrument, and the shop was mentioned in Ben's journal that day. The other may be about Ben throwing things at a girl.

Oh, your god! Did anyone read the items that were listed to seek n seize? There are 2 very important items that the police seized, y'all didn't mention those.
Posted by: w | Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 11:28 PM
Taylor's Mom was on Greta Van Susteran last night and she was interested in the bike-link chain necklace that they found. She said that someone in her family had the 2 links made into necklaces and that Taylor had one and she had one.
As for the bones, I know that artists use them for anatomical purposes when they are drawing, etc. I remember the one's in the art building as being fake. I guess the real question is are they real or fake and what kind of bones are they? If they are human bones...let's just face it, that's weird. At least I think so.
As for Mr. Fawley, does he have kids? Two, to be exact? I have no idea where he's from.

W,
You missed my drift. I meant walk with 135 lbs of dead weight.
Posted by: jason | Friday, September 30, 2005 at 01:18 PM
After reading some of Taylor's old postings from her MySpace (I think that's what it was?).... she definitely had the likings for a "bad boy" type guy, plus, she was curious for awhile about her own sexuality, and experminted (nothing wrong w/ any of this at all...) but it did seem to put her in with a "different" type of crowd... Alternative. For awhile I too thought that she had just upped and left, getting sick of her life, which she stated a few different times in her blogging, but the whole Ben Fawley thing is just too weird, too coincedental for me to think that anymore........
