Late word from Aruba suggests a judge has ruled that Satish Kalpoe can remain in detention through the next eight day period, prior to a next scheduled hearing - as is the custom under Dutch Law. No word as of now regarding older brother Deepak Kalpoe.
It's also being reported that the family of Joran Van der Sloot is receiving multiple threats over the phone. In earlier discussions with Chicago Private Detective Ernie Rizzo, he stated that he was planning on going to Aruba on or around Sept. 4, but the family denied he had been retained.
It's unclear if that report has any merit, if the Van der Sloot family has taken steps to insure their security, or if some sort of protection will be provided by the Government of Aruba, possibly through the Dutch Marines.
It's believed that while Joran Van der Sloot must remain accountable to authorities in the continued investigation of the Natalee Holloway disappearance, reports suggest he would be able to travel within the Dutch Antilles, or to Holland, should the family choose to leave the island.
Update: I've been informed that the Van der Sloot attorney appeared on Fox News to confirm the release. He also stated that Joran Van der Sloot cannot leave the island of Aruba, as he is still considered a suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
A judge on Thursday ordered the release of a Dutch teenager who has been jailed for nearly three months in the disappearance of an Alabama honors student and said he would be freed this weekend, the youth's father said.
Paul van der Sloot said the judge ruled there was no reason to hold his son, Joran, any longer on suspicion of murder but the youth remained a suspect in the sexual assault of Natalee Holloway.
"The judge ruled that he must remain at the disposal of police for interrogation and follow certain rules," Paul van der Sloot, who was told of the decision by the family's attorney.
Update: Someone purports to be very happy about developments. I haven't seen an actual email.

Can anybody tell me why there were 'Kidnapped' posters all over Aruba, just THREE days after Natalee's dissapearance?
Thats pretty quick eh??

Dee, they do know what happened to Natalee. It's just that they have to protect their son from facing the music. I agree that the harassment is not necessary, but they don't have to look far for answers because Joran knows them and so does his Daddy.

i would be shocked if they did not keep Deepak - he is much more the player in this than Satish - I truly fear for Joran - I wish he could go to Holland - there are so many nuts out there - killing him will do no good - I hope his family keeps him safe!!

Joran first said he called Satish to come and pick him up from beach, then later changed to Deepak because Deepak and Satish said it was Deepak he called. I have wondered if Joran really did leave the beach and return home, and his canceled call about not needing a ride occurred after Deepak or Satish already was close to beach to pick him up. There was the one rumor that Joran said that maybe Deepak returned to beach and raped Natalee and killed her. Maybe one of the brothers did see her after Joran went home and then something did happen. Well, another guess.

Why, they arrested two "black" security guards pretty quickly. The Dutch are the whitest people, well almost. They will deny it but JVDS is out, will he apologize to the security guards? I doubt it. The Kalpoe's have the right skin color

That logic doesn't make sense. Joran has been the one locked up all this time and the Kalpoe brothers were set free. If your logic were true, then Joran would have been let go much earlier and not the Kalpoe brothers. There must be some new evidence since Kalpoe's were released.

Ahh yes...... Joran will soon be free. Poor thing-been awhile since he's been able to drug and rape an innocent young girl-he's just itching to get some action! Sound terrible? Now you know how Beth feels about the loss of her daughter. ckd

This isn't a US vs Aruba issue and it is ridiculous and extremely immature for people to try to make it so.
There either is, or is not, evidence of a crime and any evidence of wrong doing by Joran or the other suspects. Just because some people have tried to convict Joran and/or the Kalpoe brothers from day one, and saying they are guilty, does not make it so.
If some Yahoo tries to harras or harm one of the suspects, I think they will find about about Aruba;s justice. This would be true in the US also.

Joren to be released? That's a twist. Hmmm . . .

Ashleigh: Refering you to OJ Simpson. He is black and was affluent. What gives? It's no fun to exploit the poor, whether black or white. Affluence and influence is what makes this so interesting. There seems to be a very high rate of diabetes amongst the people dislocated in New Orleans. All those big fat mamas!

I'm confused, they have something in order to hold Satish longer but are releasing Joran. What is everyones thinking on that? That Joran is innocent after all this time in detention and the brother/s now guilty? Why was Joran held all this time? Do you feel he's still responsible in some way?
G-morning :)

And this is interesting from hyscience :)
Dan at Riehl World View writes that the National Inquirer is reporting that Joran van der Sloot has admitted watching the violent death of Natalee Holloway, and adds that he (Dan) isn't quite sure what to make of the report. Dan is also covering the release of Joran van Der Sloot.

Even if Joran did and admits it, the Kalpoe lawyers will claim he's lying, a proven liar. They all walk. Very sad
Posted by: frank | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 09:18 AM
Ashleigh,
You are the one who is politically correct - and wrong. When a black perosn is victimized the audience is heavily black, just as Natalee's is heavily white. That is human nature. I don't feel guilty about it, nor should I. There is no racial quota on news subjects, only a free market in which people can choose to follow what they wish.

If the report if true of Joran confessing that he raped poor Natalee, then watched Deepak kill her, then the Aruban justice system does not feel that rape is a serious crime. As a juvenile, Joran only faced about 8 more years for the murder. Probably less for the rape.
Would a black 17-year-old Aruban receive the same treatment as Joran? Obviously not.
The racism in Aruba is mind-boggling.

We can only guess on what happen to Natalee but I know those boys know something. In early statements it was said that Joran told police that "Deepak rape and killed her and we buried her near the fishermen huts". The confussion was not signed so it can not hold up in court. Searches have been done in this area and nothing has been found. So why did Joran originally push the blame on Deepak?? In most television appearance Satish looks Like a scared Little boy and Deepak And Joran Look like they don't have a care in the world. ( That is Just my thoughts) I don't know which of these guys are guilty or who holds my blame but maybe with Joran out it may put some much needed pleasure on the brothers. I can understand the disappointment in the holloway/ Twitty family on his release but every thing happens for a reason and maybe Joran's release may help the case who knows?????

His release will most likely make the Kalpoes talk.

Shonane: Aruba's justice???? You are kidding, right? BWAAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Whatcha been smokin'?
LOL, I agree...What HAS she been smoking? There is no justice in Aruba. She says how do I know Joran is involved? WELL...You do not lie to anyone if you are innocent. You don't make stories up if you are truthful. You don't make up stories about how a person may have "hit their head" or been hurt for no reason. Just face it, he's lying and he got away with it. I wonder if someone has a physical run-in with him if THEY will do their 116 days and go free, too? If so, THEN I'll believe there is justice in Aruba!
Posted by: mexiwife | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 01:48 PM
I don't care that Joran gets out and away with a murder. I seriously doubt he'll ever get another chance to do it again to some poor unsuspecting American girl. The entire world knows who this bastard is, and now he's only got the Aruban/Dutch girls to rape and murder.
Oh well, such is life. Bet Melody et al will be waiting at the prison gate for their roofies and closeups;)
