Very preliminary information coming out of Aruba suggests there will be a Government Task Force Press Conference today and both Kalpoe brothers are said to be being released - now, or in the near future.
Early report unconfirmed at present.
Update: Second report suggests above report is correct and confirmed at least as far as Satish Kalpoe - a second judge is said to have over-ruled an earlier ruling allowing for an extension of Satish Kalpoe's detention.
Update 2: AP Confirms:
ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A judge Friday ordered the release of two brothers held on suspicion of involvement in the disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway, their lawyers said.
The judge ruled that Deepak Kalpoe, 18, and Satish Kalpoe, 21, could go free on condition that they not leave Aruba and remain available to police, said lawyers Ruud Oomen and David Kock. The brothers, Surinamese nationals, will be released Saturday, along with Joran van der Sloot, a Dutch teen who is also a suspect in Holloway's disappearance, the lawyers said

Hydrangea, I have been warned by a lawyer for my colorful typos when describing the suspected, alleged, possibly guilty, reputed 4 thugs. That LT. almost heard me lose my temper in several languages. For him, I would even practice Arabic.

NYMom, I'd probably go as far as to label them, "probably guilty"...I mean, we're being honest here, right?

Guess I just get iritated with those that think others can only concentrate on one thing at a time. I don't have ADD!!

Posted by: Xander | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:49 PM
Its really too bad that they are getting off scott free. I keep hearing rumos that BHT and Jug having a bomb to drop, but I'm still waiting to hear from them. Any news on this front?
Thanks for the excellent blog Dan..

Joran still planning to go to Florida? Hope so!
Posted by: vincent | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:52 PM
I have no doubt they had something to do with her dissappearance. There is such rampant speculation about what is going on down there now. I want BHT drop some names and tell us what she knows. She has hinted many times that she is holding back in respect to the LE investigation. At this point its time to play her hand, if she indeed has one to play....

"Its really too bad that they are getting off scott free. I keep hearing rumos that BHT and Jug having a bomb to drop, but I'm still waiting to hear from them. Any news on this front?"
At this point, I'll believe it when I see it.

Most people won't know or care who he is in Florida, Vincent...but...he won't be going there anytime soon. He's still limited to where he can go...
Posted by: ChinbeardXIV | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:53 PM
At this point, if he ends up in the states, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he somehow dissappears. his mug has been in the MSM too mcuh lately and he is definitely recognizable at 6'5".

Cybermike, this case lost most of its audience here in the US weeks ago...if not sooner. Most people aren't like us who are still posting away about it...they really don't care.
If the media stays out of it, we'll all forget it about it by 2006...

Hey i know this is an old school question... but how does Maarten Van Stratten fit into this mess? I keep seeing his name mentioned. BTW he looks shady as hell. I'll take links if you have them... Thanks!

Chinabeard~
Oh, I think they'll recognize your boy, don't worry;)
Posted by: vincent | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:58 PM
My boy??? C'mon, Vincent...the world knows my heart lies with Arlene Ellis-Schipper!!! :)
Posted by: ChinbeardXIV | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:59 PM
I know ChinBeard, no one is concerned about it at this point. Not with the anarchy in NO. I became interested it about a month ago, when I had a dream about Natalee (weird I know, but whatever). Now I feel like i have a personal stake in it. I just hope some kind of resolution can be found... whether or not it has anything to do with JVDS and/or the K2 brothers.
Posted by: cybermike | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 05:01 PM
Chinabeard~
Your "heart" may be with Ms Schipper, but I somehow get the idea you'd have to borrow The Kalpoe's and Joran to get her's to be with your's. lol
Posted by: vincent | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 05:02 PM
I totally agree with you Cybermike...I got hooked into this stuff in early June and haven't been able to get away.
I also hope they find the truth--whether it involves JvdS and the Kalpoes or not...
I'm out!

"Just hoping for the best... I hope BHT comes forward with some news..."
Yah me too. I am really starting to think that because of the lack of evidence, maybe they've been looking in the wrong places to begin with. And maybe the family's involvement and forcing the LE's hand really helped botch a probably already botched case. Flame away!

Although I don't agree with the release of "the boys" I will say that I knew it would only be a matter of time before we started seeing posts like this.
vincent be careful you never know who might be reading these blogs.
I imagine that if they are eventually allowed to leave the island you will see the VDS family disappear for awhile. I'm sure Papa has had that planned for a good long time now.

Hydrangea~ what difference does it make who reads here? Do you think Paulus is going to find me and off me too?

Regarding releases of all:
Don't know what happened to Natalee, and I really, really hope and feel she will be found alive. I'm still sad when I remember the pain on the face of Deepak and Satish's mother, as she was being escorted by police to her car. That was the look of pure helplessness. Let's have a heart...everyone hurts. I know the Van der Sloots have also had much needed support from their friends also. Just wanted to get my two cents in. Some of us are crying inside about the whole thing, a sad tragedy for all.
Posted by: Suz-in-Florida | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 05:06 PM
Vincent no and I do understand your stance.
Posted by: Hydrangea | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 05:08 PM
Of course they are guilty!!! At the very least they are guilty of lying. Joran is guilty of raping Natalee. It's impossible for sex to be consential when, according to Joran, Natalee was very drunk. And if you are foolish enough to believe that he just left her on the beach!? Under the circumstances, that's pretty morally repugnant. There are some acts that occur that although they aren't legally considered a crime, does NOT mean that they are right.

I've always meant to ask--is Surinamese the same as Indian, or is it Pakistani?
Posted by: vincent | Sep 2, 2005 4:45:35 PM
Vincent,
I am not sure if I am allowed to post a url, but I would recommend you do a google search and type in "suriname cia" and click on the first url(hopeufllY) you receive after the search. and you will get your answer. -- (look for ethnic groups)

The K Mother and the VDS Mother need a lot of support. They need a course in Parenting Skills. In NY, their kids would have been taken away long ago by Child Protective Services. Aiding and abetting juvenile delinquency is not tolerated here.

So no girl has ever had consensual sex while drunk? I think I know what you're getting at, but this is a pretty broad statement..... Also, there is a HUGE difference between being morally wrong and being guilty in a court of law, just ask Michael Jackson and OJ.

nymom,
what if the country allows u to gamble and drink all the other stuff, legally by the time you turn 16. How do you control that
Posted by: justch | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 05:14 PM
I'd be curious to know how Anita and Paulus' parenting compare to other Dutch parents. I have an issue with someone who is a jugde (of some sort) that allows their child such a lifestyle breaking several laws etc.
I don't mean it in a saracastic way. I'm just curious as to the permissiveness of parents in Holland.

Well that's just it. It isn't legal.
Posted by: Hydrangea | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 05:17 PM
Well, if the judges aren't going to enforce their own laws, then in essence, there are no laws to break and anything goes. It's quite clear why the crime rate is so low in Aruba.
Posted by: Shari | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 05:18 PM
yes Shari and Paulus is a judge (or one in training or whatever)

Agreed. unfortunately, Crime rate = # of reported crimes, not # of actual crimes. In a corrupt small community like Aruba this seems to be very true...

Im actually going to tell my mother about this site.. cuz she would really love it... She is very hurt and disturbed about the case... She said from the moment she first saw their faces.. She said " they looked guilty"... she has been praying everyday for Natalee and her mom... as she went through a similar experience with her oldest daughter... who happens to be me... I wasnt in an island like Aruba, and the police werent trying to cover these boys or give them a slap on the wrist for what they did...
And what is even scarier.. one of sex offenders who lives in the area ( I didnt learn they existed so close in my neighborhood until I had to go to police office) last night was chasing me as I was on my fitness walk! It was evening late it was early evening.. they belive he was the same guy they got a call about 20 minutes earlier.. who was spotted peaking in a woman's window.... What the heck is this, man? Its like some demon on the rampage... for girls and young children... and wives being murdered by husbands... I dont know if " I do" is even a word I want to ever be heard saying...Last night I was sppoked becauz I was awake... before I was drugged too.. its amazing how fast some1 can slip something in a drink... Yeah I think they are guilty too..
Maybe Nat's case can hopefull bust the whole thing wide open... find out all those who were victimized... Love the site, guys!

This question is NOT for the Joran supporters:
Who here believes that this case is one giant cover-up, sheer ineptness on the part of law enforcement, or a combination of both?
