Very preliminary information coming out of Aruba suggests there will be a Government Task Force Press Conference today and both Kalpoe brothers are said to be being released - now, or in the near future.
Early report unconfirmed at present.
Update: Second report suggests above report is correct and confirmed at least as far as Satish Kalpoe - a second judge is said to have over-ruled an earlier ruling allowing for an extension of Satish Kalpoe's detention.
Update 2: AP Confirms:
ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A judge Friday ordered the release of two brothers held on suspicion of involvement in the disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway, their lawyers said.
The judge ruled that Deepak Kalpoe, 18, and Satish Kalpoe, 21, could go free on condition that they not leave Aruba and remain available to police, said lawyers Ruud Oomen and David Kock. The brothers, Surinamese nationals, will be released Saturday, along with Joran van der Sloot, a Dutch teen who is also a suspect in Holloway's disappearance, the lawyers said

That is a big mistake, guilt all over those faces. It is easy for them to
stick to their story to protect each other. Guilty scum.

So much for hoping that Joran "gave them up".
Posted by: Hydrangea | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 03:38 PM
OMG!!!
I can't believe it?
They are letting all of them free?!?!?!?

this is so bummed....I thought they were deatining them still?? What happened since yesterday... what about that girls drug/rape story in 8/25 how bout Freddy??? what in the heck is going on down there????
Posted by: S | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 03:44 PM
Dinesh, just because someone is freed from jail does NOT mean they are innocent. Just means there's not enough evidence to hold them. Lots of guilty parties walk free because police can't find enough evidence.

I guess Joran and the brothers are glad that something happened here in the Usa that would take the attention of the news media away from this case. !!! I will continue to offer my prayers and thoughts for Natalee and her family and friends.
I hope they live the rest of their lives in misery !! God will see to that !!!

The hurricane had nothing to do with this case, for sure. September 4th has been looming in the distance for about 6 weeks or so.

Well, the Dutch really screwed this one up and most likely these bums will go free. I have already written to Gov Bush to keep Joran out of Florida - I don't want him in my state - we have enough predators here already.
The Holloways along with all of us must keep this going. I still feel there is some hope down the road that something will break. Do you really think these bums will live a normal life -NOT!
Shame on them, their parents and most of all the Dutch. BOYCOTT ARUBA!

The hurricane in the USA has nothing to do with the NH case. Nothing.

Correction - the hurricane has nothing to do with the NH case. Absolutely nothing.

Scuba,
Do you know if they are following other leads, or are the releasing the boys in hopes that they will 'screw up' and give away some evidence?
Posted by: donnaanna | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 03:57 PM
I don't know where the reports came from but I read somewhere that Joran's family has had death threats made against them to the point they've hired a PI to see who is making the threats. I hope that everyone associates these boys and their families with rape and murder, if they are indeed guilty. It's a price you must pay. This case sickens me beyond belief. For all of those who are guilty, I hope your death is as pleasant as rotting in a landfill.
Posted by: Ellen | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:01 PM
I couldn't resist...maybe I should just stay around for 3 posts per day...
Anyway, Katrina's in a different thread, Perspective...and, Gloria, contrary to your own personal belief, JvdS has never been convicted of being any sort of predator and why would anyone want to boycott a place like Aruba?
I understand why people would be edgy (for lack of a better term) about things like Katrina (different thread) and Miss Holloway, but let's not let that get in the way of rational thought.
Whew! I'm spent...
Ciao!

Aruba! Aruba! I love this town! Now it can not only be known as an avenue for drug-trafficing, partying naked, a prostitution palace, an underage gambling mecca and a corrupt front for money landering drug lords, but a place where the definition of "crime" is all relative to who you are and what you say or don't say. Be proud of your little island. Sodom and Gomorrah
got nothin' on you!
Come to Aruba, meet our friendly locals; drink, laugh, wake the next day with foggy memories of dark and unpleasant activites; or maybe even disappear without a trace! Viva Aruba!!
Our motto..."Aruba....the place not to be seen."

persective
It is also about how American's are disrespected, the abuse of human rights, the injustices against women, world justice and and political corruption. WE, as Americans, are almost completely on our own with the hurrican tragity. I am giving my time and money to those that can act. Don't you lecture me on freedom of speech or thought. We American's invented it. I will think and act and do and speak and resist and shout because I AM AN AMERICAN!!!!! These little scumbags don't get to escape during a crisis. Not on my watch. I can multi-task.

People are saying that Nancy Grace has gone too far, and is playing
"God". With the pressure off the Holloway case, I bet something turns up, just watch something slip out, or someone slip up. Evidence is evidence, as said before look at the US, OJ Simpson case, Jon Benet Ramsey,. I am an American and proud of it, but try to look at all sides. Kalpoes sure show the guilt though.

Wow...Satish Kalpoe could be a free man soon? What's your take, Dan? Do they just not have sufficient evidence or what??? If BHT has something up her sleeve, I'm thinking she should use it...

dan,
thanks for the update.

you are the best!

ChinbeardXIV,
O. J. Simpson wasn't convicted either, but most people think he is guilty of murder.
perspective,
Being concerned about the situation in the Gulf states - and giving money to help - is not mutually exclusive with criticizing a botched investigation in Aruba and lamenting the loss of a beautiful young American woman there.
Posted by: DennisAOK | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:32 PM
BUT many countries were told their help WASN"T NEEDED; the VANCOUVER team was told NOT to come by the feds; and instead the Louisina GOVERNOR'S office arranged the go-ahead to allow them IN!!!!
Perspective could you post a link to this?
you know what I was told by FEMA on the phone?! "that here is NO PROVISION yet to coordinate private donations" then I asked if I could arrange to have some of those people come stay with me; and I was told "if the need should arise we will be in contact". ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!!
If you had the same "attitude" with them that you have with us ...well....
Posted by: Hydrangea | Friday, September 02, 2005 at 04:32 PM
DennisAOK, my gut tells me Joran van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe are all guilty of causing the disappearance of Miss Holloway--but, I'm afraid there not enough evidence to support such a theory.
Speculation has run rampant, DennisAOK...I've found myself caught up in it as much as anyone else...
If I were judging the case and the evidence didn't give me faith beyond a REASONABLE doubt that a person was guilty of a crime, regardless of my gut feeling, I'd render them innocent...

Hmmm...if Natalee Holloway, herself, walked though the front door of many a poster on this thread, those posters would still swear Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers drugged, raped, and killed her...and elisted the help of Paulus van der Sloot to bury/incinerate/dump/float away her body...

It's nice to see that Aruba is now taking advantage of the tragedy that Katrina brought to the US!
Now they are going to try to sweep this family under the rug..like they planned to do had Beth Twitty not taken charge.
There new motto is: "No Media.. No Case!!"
I will NEVER travel to Aruba!!
