Police said Sharp left her home in the Museum District about 10:35 a.m. to walk her dog and didn't return. Her mother filed a missing-persons report later in the day.
The dog showed up Monday. But by yesterday, the 5-foot-2-inch, 210-pound Sharp had yet to return.
Police spokeswoman Kirsten Nelson said a preliminary investigation indicates Sharp may have gone to meet someone with whom she had previously corresponded on the Internet.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 646-0400 or 355-3059.

What is with these missing people, Dan?
It's disturbing to think that so many go missing, no follow up.
As I said before, you and Steve should unite with a "missing person site".
You could work wonders.
Thanks Dan

As a Richmond journalist, I want people to know that Ms. Sharp's family has declined requests for interviews. They don't want the publicity that Taylor Behl's family has courted, for whatever reason. And she's the adopted daughter of a well-educated Caucasian couple, so it's not a race or class thing.

I am the Administrator of a site that deals with Missing/Amber Alerts/Jane, John Doe's/Sex Offender Information and Laws. And I am so shocked at the lack of updates on these missing people!! Whether the family declines interviews or not there is other parts of the story that can be followed up. We do endless research to update the stories and with Monica there is just the initial report. No sightings, flyers nada. Race has never been an issue for me or the site but I have to admit I have noticed who ever yells the loudest does get the attention. Shouldn’t every case be just as important?
Thank you for the opportunity to air this on your blog.

Another example: Cynthia Razon -Missing in Texas since September 13th. A suspect is listed in her disappearance and yet not one story since September 27th or an Adult Amber Alert. There isn’t even a flyer and if you check the Texas or California missing sites she is nowhere to be found. Original story available at http://www.10news.com/news/5025508/detail.html . If you do open a site contact me maybe we can help each other since it is obvious we care for these people when the media and police don’t.

Some people wanted to make this a race issue in the beginning. I had never heard of Monica until I seen a black women on the news saying that she thought Taylor was getting more attentuion because she was white. I had never seen Monica's parents or any other family members on TV. I watch the news EVERY night. I just caught her mother on the TV last night with a friend. Yes, her mother is white. The police are not going to put every case on the news, it is up to us the parents of these children or any other family member missing to SPEAK up and never shut up. Laci's mother never let Laci out of the public's mind. I suggest everyone in this situation do the same.
